There are porches on both the first and second floor, and we took advantage of the opportunity to just sit and relax each evening after dinner out. Our hostess, Carol, was very friendly and knowledgeable about the home and the area. Breakfasts were an absolute treat, both delicious and filling. Carol kindly made a fantastic gluten-free cinnamon apple coffee cake, which I really appreciated, and even my husband (who usually doesn't do gluten-free willingly) said it was top-notch. They have a few bicycles, but some are in rough shape. The breakfast was light but delicious. There is plenty of free public parking behind the inn. So park behind them and walk through the back to the front door. The staff is friendly and did a good job cleaning the room and serving. I did not try dinner, but it was packed; I don't know if that indicates quality. But all the tables were full. For the price compared to the other hotels, it's a good choice for a couple. I'm sure you could have kids, but there is nothing on the grounds to keep them entertained. And because of that, if you stay there, you don't get the noise from screaming kids or the frat boys getting wasted next door. It's an excellent option for an overnight stay.

We're definitely creatures of habit. Our latest visit was second to none. We were lucky enough to score seats at the bar for our party of seven. Taylor, our bartender, was fabulous. She was incredibly personable. She made so many great suggestions and recommendations, both for food/drink at the Atlantic Hotel in addition to other potential activities for us in the area once she learned we were here on vacation. The drinks she made were also on point. My Bloody Mary was one of the best I've had. The Orange Crushes were a hit between my mom and aunts who are always on the hunt for great Crushes. Oranges were juiced fresh for Crushes for each individual order which is great to see (not every place we've been does this). My wife loved her Mojito, and my cousins' drinks (Prickly Pear Margarita & Pear Martini) tasted every bit as good as they looked. I also thought it was very considerate of the bartender to serve the extra Pear Martini in a carafe that was resting in an ice filled glass to keep it chilled without watering it down. We also ordered food: Salmon BLT, Crabby Chicken Pretzel Club, Crab Cake Sandwich, Sriracha Dusted Wings, Crab Dip, Eggplant Tower. There were no complaints about the food, in fact, everyone pretty much loved what they ordered. The menu is unique and original containing some items you won't find on your typical menu. Each vacation isn't complete without a trip to Berlin which includes drinks and, at the very least, appetizers at the Atlantic Hotel. This visit did not disappoint and reinforced all of the reasons why it's part of our vacation plans; good food, expertly crafted cocktails, fantastic service, and historic charm. BEWARE racism, bigotry, homophobia, awkward, traumatic moments ahead if you book with Jan and Jim…read more My partner and I stayed here last Summer and made the mistake to think this would be a friendly b&b (we had known very few were we actually ever feel truly welcome) but thought to give it a chance during my sister's birthday weekend. Upon checking in, Jan eyed us up and down and did not know what to make of two feminine women who didn't seem to just be friends, let alone an inter-racial couple (she would later tell us how open she was and even wanted to someday buy a purple Polka dotted bus and park it outside her church just to show how "accepting" she was...yes, like you, we do not know what that means either). Please keep in mind, that the entire time we spent on this porch with her she refused to make eye contact with my partner, who is a woman of color (she would continue to lean on her racist, gross belief that the white woman in the relationship must be the one paying for everything). Fast forward to the morning, where we would get knocks on our door for breakfast, jolted out of bed by her telling us we must get up. We were worried what would occur if we didn't join the other guests for her breakfast. We joined everyone in the dining room, where Jan stood over each guest and would ask if you didn't finish your plate "if you did not like it? No appetite?" Awkward to say the least especially when this was not a relative who you had to politely deal with. During the breakfast, we would hear off conversations from Jan's sermon (yes you read that right) of wanting to be like the English, her pride of Daughters of the Revolution and how she wished her family had come over on the Mayflower to even talks of how amazing the 13 colonies were and how pure New England blood lines are and her love of being a devote White Anglo Saxon Christian. Meanwhile her husband, Jim stood behind her looking rather afraid and traumatized (victim we presume and he isn't allowed to leave the kitchen). She even gave the group a question and answer of how each couple met but with no surprise, stopped at us, smiled weirdly and then went to the next couple. At the end of the weekend, we checked out as early as we could and never looked back again. Do yourself a favor, and check out other spots in Berlin; this one is just not worth it.

We were excited to see the Rainbow and Trans flags when we pulled up and knew we were in a friendly place. The room was lovely and large. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we slept well. Although not on Chincoteague it is a short drive to the island which was beautiful every morning. The grounds of the inn are well maintained and beautifully cared for with paths between each building. The owner showed us where breakfast would be and even brought breakfast to our room one day. Breakfast was also wonderful every morning with juice, fruit, a sweet, and a main dish which was either sweet or savory depending on the day. Our breakfasts including a peach croissant casserole, and a hatch chili egg bake just to name a few. We regularly saw the owners around the grounds and they were always very friendly. We did not get to enjoy the pool but it looked lovely and well maintained. I have only two minor complaints which are more personal preference that actually complain. The room had four windows the were high on the wall which were not covered which woke my partner every morning. These should probably be either covered or the bed placement changed. The button for the big tub in the bathroom was very hard to push on and off. These are really minor things and do not distract from the overall wonderful experience we had. Of note there a ton on Mosquito's on the eastern shore and the islands. Make sure if you are traveling this way you bring bug spray. One last quick note, we got the soaps and lotion add one. The soaps and lotions were wonderful both made and to use. I would recommend this B and B to anyone who wants to enjoy Chincoteague and the eastern shore.
