We reserved pretty far in advance (early February) and we mentioned that it was our anniversary. I didn't expect anything big, but I was surprised that there was no mention at all during our stay, even on our hand-written welcome note (found in all the rooms when you check in, personalized with your names). 2. We stayed in Sandy Dune on the third floor. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was large, but the shower was TINY. I'm pretty petite (5'3) and I thought the shower was tight. My husband, who is 6'1, definitely had a bit of trouble. The bathroom shower towels are also rather small. 3. Breakfast is served every day at 9:15am. I was a little surprised that it was so late and that there wasn't a wider range of times. For anyone looking to go on a 10am boat tour, Ben will tell you that you can make it, but you will definitely have to rush, because they won't serve you earlier than 9:15 and since everyone is seated and served at the same time, it's done as a very leisurely affair. 4. I woke up one morning with an allergic reaction to something - complete with a seriously swollen lip, hives, and difficulty breathing, and when I went downstairs and asked Ben if the inn had Benadryl or anything, he didn't seem very concerned (my face looked seriously deformed; I startled another guest). He checked the medical kit but it had nothing, and Ben's only suggestion was that I go to a pharmacy. I think he would have left it at that had I not pressed him for more information, such where I could go and if they would be open (it was 7am). I think it would have been more appropriate for him to offer to help a bit more, but in the end, I was fine. 5. Wifi is slow. This may be because the house was packed (22 people) and everyone seemed to be trying to use it at night. During the day it was better/faster. PROS 1. We arrived at around 11:30am, which is much earlier than 2pm check in, but Ben still showed us around the inn and let us drop off our stuff in our room. 2. FREE BIKES!! We used them every single day. They had many (at least 10) to pick from. We biked around town, to the beach, to dinner, along the trails on Assateague. Also, FREE BEACH TOWELS, SUNSCREEN, and DEET. I loved that nothing was locked up so we could get things whenever we wanted (no need to ask for permission or sign anything out). 3. The snack room, which was stocked with trail mix, homemade cookies and brownies, Keurig coffee, various teas, and a large pitcher of sweet iced tea and lemonade in the fridge. There were also plenty of clean plates, utensils, mugs, and glasses. 4. Breakfast was good. Every day you get a glass of OJ (no refills offered), hot coffee (with refills, if so desired) and a little fruit bowl to start. On the first day there was nut bread with butter and jam and an apple clafoutis (baked custard tart) with whipped cream and cooked apples. It was like dessert for breakfast; a little too sweet, but tasty. There was also one sausage and one strip of bacon per person. The second day, breakfast included a tiny little fruit jam tartlet and a crispy baked croissant, halved and topped with sauteed mushrooms, onions, and eggs and served with hollandiase sauce and cheese. The third day, breakfast was a savory herb scone with butter and a thick wedge of veggie omelette. 5. There is a beautiful garden/back courtyard area with tables and a fountain where you can eat/relax. There is also a chess/checkers table inside and multiple decks of cards.

We were excited to see the Rainbow and Trans flags when we pulled up and knew we were in a friendly place. The room was lovely and large. The bed was incredibly comfortable and we slept well. Although not on Chincoteague it is a short drive to the island which was beautiful every morning. The grounds of the inn are well maintained and beautifully cared for with paths between each building. The owner showed us where breakfast would be and even brought breakfast to our room one day. Breakfast was also wonderful every morning with juice, fruit, a sweet, and a main dish which was either sweet or savory depending on the day. Our breakfasts including a peach croissant casserole, and a hatch chili egg bake just to name a few. We regularly saw the owners around the grounds and they were always very friendly. We did not get to enjoy the pool but it looked lovely and well maintained. I have only two minor complaints which are more personal preference that actually complain. The room had four windows the were high on the wall which were not covered which woke my partner every morning. These should probably be either covered or the bed placement changed. The button for the big tub in the bathroom was very hard to push on and off. These are really minor things and do not distract from the overall wonderful experience we had. Of note there a ton on Mosquito's on the eastern shore and the islands. Make sure if you are traveling this way you bring bug spray. One last quick note, we got the soaps and lotion add one. The soaps and lotions were wonderful both made and to use. I would recommend this B and B to anyone who wants to enjoy Chincoteague and the eastern shore.

They have a few bicycles, but some are in rough shape. The breakfast was light but delicious. There is plenty of free public parking behind the inn. I did not try dinner, but it was packed; I don't know if that indicates quality. But all the tables were full. For the price compared to the other hotels, it's a good choice for a couple. I'm sure you could have kids, but there is nothing on the grounds to keep them entertained. And because of that, if you stay there, you don't get the noise from screaming kids or the frat boys getting wasted next door. It's an excellent option for an overnight stay.

We were treated to tea, beans, toast with jam, and fried egg, mini sausages, and impeccably cooked bacon. I'd never had English beans, so I sort of expected them to taste like what you'd get at a cookout. That is not the case! I can't say what they're similar to but I definitely recommend them. We were also able to try chocolate and biscuits from England. The owner, Heidi, is such a pleasant, warm, and inviting person. She's very knowledgeable about things to do in the area, where to grab a good meal, and things like that. What I really enjoyed was her desire to share about her English culture. Having never been myself, I really appreciated listening to her talk about where she comes from and all the touches of "home" she incorporates into the inn. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was waiting for us in the morning. After breakfast we took up the hostess on her suggestion and visited Berlin, MD. Small town, but had antique shops, friendly people and free parking. We arrived back that evening, watched TV for a bit and retired to our room. Check in was easy and quick and our room was beautiful. We stayed in the Chadwick room which is on the 2nd floor. It has an in-room bathroom, which is something I prefer in a B&B. The bed was a beautiful 4 poster with soft comfortable sheets. Everything was incredibly clean and decorated so well. The common rooms were beautiful and comfortable and had books on historic architecture in the area. I loved how they had photos of some of the previous owners of the home and their families. You have to look for the signature scratched into the glass window! The patio was really adorable, I wish we had had more time to sit outside and have a drink. Doug made us a reservation at the Blue Dog Cafe which was really fun. They had live music and singing which we enjoyed. We spent most of our time at Chincoteague and Assateague, which are both about a 30 minute drive away from the house. Doug and Fran gave excellent directions and had maps available to give to us. The breakfast IS AMAZING. The best breakfast I have had at a B&B by FAR. Easily one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Saturday morning was a simple breakfast as we had to leave really early for a kayaking reservation. Doug and Fran woke up early with us and were so accommodating! Even though breakfast is normally served later, they had some coffee and tea ready for us with wonderful goat cheese scrambled eggs and bacon. Sunday's breakfast was the breakfast of kings. We had a fruit cup, followed by Doug's father's Popovers recipe, which were these light and fluffy puffs in beautiful cups. That was then followed by a hashbrown crusted quiche, and ending with croissant french toast. We were stuffed and it was all delicious. HIGHLY recommend!!!
