Windmill Creek Vineyard & Winery - Cheese fondue

Incredible experience, and I would highly recommend for a special night out. Our server fully…read moreexplained the menu options. There was more than enough food for four people. We started with the cheese board and the crab dip. ( more bread or crackers for the crab and cheese board would have been nice) We moved on to the cheese fondue with one skewer of protein per person. 2 chicken and two scallops. My son found the chicken cooked enough, I found it a tad undercooked. The cheese fondue was very good, but I think it was "split" giving it a slightly lumpy texture. There were plenty of potatoes and veggies for four on the platter. We HAD to have dessert, but as stuffed as we were , we ordered for 2. There was more than enough for 4. The melted chocolate was divine!!! We all loved it and will be back again. It was a wonderful evening.

Have had multiple visits over the years seeing this establishment grow and have enjoyed them…read more However this was fourth and worse igloo visit. It was not clear on the website when making reservations that the menus posted were not for the igloos. Even items we asked about on the menus provided were not available (menu said available until 3 pm in igloo, it was 200 but still told no- yet we also couldn't get the steak or rockfish in the igloo. As well, previous igloo visit options provided fondue for 2 (not 5!) and could be altered for one meat and one seafood eater however this time we would've had to at $240 to get both. At minimum $120+$10-$12 extra to add one skewer. Although the ambiance is an "experience" it was not a satisfying culinary experience. As well, it was not clear we couldn't divide our checks up amongst each couple as most all restaurants can do. (Can only do 2 checks, we had 3 couples) It was more cumbersome on the waitress and us than just charging each couple one bill, we weren't sharing food or said put half this on each etc. it was clearly just 3 couples. As for what we did get... if crab dip hadn't had a shell in it I wouldn't have believed it had any crab in it, just cheese flavor. Steak skewer was well done (no choice given) yet veggies were aldente (to say the least). Wine was good but limited selection. I really don't understand why I can eat one think inside yet can't 20' away we would've had a much better experience if some accommodating had been offered on any of the above issues.

Pro: they reimbursed us after telling us the ranger would not stop harassing us, and suggested we just stop playing. Con: ranger was rude and made fun of beginners swing/attempting to play golf. Note: one of our crew was a more experienced golfer and was not given this same treatment with a group of guys. Based on other posts it sounds like the Cove may have an issue with women?

Better know as The Marina Restaurant at Captains Cove. Had…read moredinner at the "Marina" last night. I arrive around 7pm, the inside dinning room was empty of customers but at least 7 employees were talking near the bar area. I was told the patio area was very nice, so there I went. There were two tables occupied with 4 patrons each. The ambiance is beautiful inside the dinning area and out on the patio. The view from the patio, Chincoteague Bay and Chincoteague in the distance is beautiful also. Service was prompt and the server, Christy ( I believe ) was friendly. I ordered an alcoholic drink ($9) and the 12 oz NY Strip ($35) with the vegetable of the day (California Medley) and garlic mashed potatoes. I asked for a glass of wine to accompany the meal ($6.50). The supposedly garlic mashed potatoes were terrible. I was served what happens to mashed potatoes when you overwork them, sticky starchy mess. The "vegetable of the day" was way over "cooked/steamed/boiled". It was a wilted mess. The steak I will say was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The server eventually came back to the table and asked how everything was. That is when I complained about the potatoes. She asked if I want something else but I was already more than half way done with my steak so I said no. I have been at this restaurant in the past. We would come here after golf and have chicken wings and beer. The menu had 6 "jumbo" chicken wings for $14. I think that's close to what we paid including the beer. Would I come back? Not for dinner, maybe a beer after golf that would be it.

The home is stunning with amazing attention to detail. There's convenient parking on-site, and you walk into the side door of the home. The hosts were amazing. Doug was great with answering all my questions and emails before we went, and once there, they both were incredibly hospitable and offered us some cool beer and lovely wine and cheese when we checked in. They were very friendly and talkative and knew so much about the area. The reservation process was very simple, we called them up and booked our room via the phone. Check in was easy and quick and our room was beautiful. We stayed in the Chadwick room which is on the 2nd floor. It has an in-room bathroom, which is something I prefer in a B&B. The bed was a beautiful 4 poster with soft comfortable sheets. Everything was incredibly clean and decorated so well. The common rooms were beautiful and comfortable and had books on historic architecture in the area. I loved how they had photos of some of the previous owners of the home and their families. You have to look for the signature scratched into the glass window! The patio was really adorable, I wish we had had more time to sit outside and have a drink. Doug made us a reservation at the Blue Dog Cafe which was really fun. They had live music and singing which we enjoyed. We spent most of our time at Chincoteague and Assateague, which are both about a 30 minute drive away from the house. Doug and Fran gave excellent directions and had maps available to give to us. The breakfast IS AMAZING. The best breakfast I have had at a B&B by FAR. Easily one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. Saturday morning was a simple breakfast as we had to leave really early for a kayaking reservation. Doug and Fran woke up early with us and were so accommodating! Even though breakfast is normally served later, they had some coffee and tea ready for us with wonderful goat cheese scrambled eggs and bacon. Sunday's breakfast was the breakfast of kings. We had a fruit cup, followed by Doug's father's Popovers recipe, which were these light and fluffy puffs in beautiful cups. That was then followed by a hashbrown crusted quiche, and ending with croissant french toast. We were stuffed and it was all delicious. HIGHLY recommend!!!
