Excellent choice for Sunday brunch. Honestly, we had stayed away because we thought the restaurant prices would be very expensive, but the brunch menu is very reasonable, and the food is excellent! Our server was very attentive and helpful with regard to my wife's dietary restrictions. Our group of four had the gumbo, breakfast platter, classic Benedict, and shrimp and grits, plus a very nice Cabernet Sangiovese. Everything was prepared perfectly, well-seasoned, delicious. The room itself is very attractive and comfortable. And the tab for 4 was not much over $100 before tip, very comparable to what we are accustomed to paying at McEwens, City Grocery, and Ravine, our other brunch favorites. Nice patio to sit on a nice evening. Staff is very friendly. The crab cakes for an appetizer were very good. They had a lot of crab in them and weren't overloaded with bread crumbs like some can tend to be. The Chancellor's salad was really good and the house made honey basil vinaigrette was really good and not too sweet. Lots of flavor and definitely big enough to share. My wife had the trout and said it was good. The ribeye I had was seasoned well. I ordered it medium rare and it came out cooked a little above medium. My only complaint is when the waiter asked about my steak and mentioned he thought it looked a little over cooked, nothing was really done about it. For dessert, my wife had the creme brûlée and said it was fantastic. If we were ever back in Oxford, we'd definitely eat here again. read more

Review for the lounge bar/patio area. They have a nice breakfast menu and healthy options too. Bar is open for mimosas and Bloody Mary. No specials just the menu options. Breakfast is served on Saturday till 11. We sat down at 1045 and was still able to order off the breakfast menu. I had steak Benedict and friend had an omelet. It was a big omelet. I am loving this place. It is a very pleasant place with cozy formal atmosphere. Every one is so nice and easy to talk to with. read more

Absolutely terrible management. The food and beverage manager, Marty Hermetz, was extremely rude. I made a reservation over the phone for a group of 9. When we arrived he couldn't find our reservation and yelled at me that it was my fault. The Grill is not open currently, and they didn't tell me this when I booked the reservation... Service was very very slow. My stake was only mildly mildly warm and over seasoned. The price was extremely high for the tease and being cool almost cold. I wouuld not visit here again. Even though the restaurant was almost empty, they had one server who was very slow coming to the table to get started and even slower coming back after zi finished the meal. I told the waitress that the steak was barely warm and all she said was "I'm sorry, I will tell the chief ". I can not recommend this restaurant!!!! read more

We were so happy to find this spot after a long day on our feet in The Grove! Great atmosphere, and very comprehensive wine/cocktail & food menus. The best part of our visit was our server, Emily. She gave us excellent recommendations for appetizers, entree options and dessert, and really knew the menu. I've been here more than a few times and each time it's been fantastic. Such a luxurious but warm and welcoming atmosphere with incredible staff. The food is outstanding and the drinks are to die for, especially if you're out on the patio! Full on traditional Thanksgiving Dinner with a salad bar, multiple items at the carving station and plenty of yummy (really yummy) hot side dishes here was extremely tasty and the bread pudding desert was incredible! $40 per person, buffet style, included iced tea and hot coffee. Only 4 stars due to the inattentive service and $10 mimosas. They were wonderful but 10 bucks? They should have been free or 1/2 price. The staff seemed like they were working really hard, but somehow my party was mostly invisible to them *sigh. I had an amazing experience here. First, the atmosphere is perfect if you are looking for a romantic or relaxing dinner. Secondly, they did a fantastic job handling food my allergies. I am allergic to both gluten and soy and the Chef prepared my food so that it would be safe. Their food was very sooo good. The BBQ shrimp was rave-worthy and the scallops were divine. We had an amazing experience at the Chancellor's house. We pulled up and they immediately had a valet service there for us. We then walked inside and saw the beautiful dining area. The food was amazing, but pretty pricy. I had the Colorado lamb and it was amazing. Our waitress Suzanne, was very kind and though of everything. We will definitely be back. read more

This is without a doubt the finest dining in Oxford, MS. I went with a large group of friends on Double Decker weekend for lunch and the service was great along with incredible food. I still haven't eaten dinner there but I definitely will soon since I have heard how great the steaks are. read more

Went with a party of 11 during graduation weekend Saturday night. I would have much rather preferred going to Oxford Grillehouse, City Grocery, or McEwens. The entire place was empty and we had a private room in the lounge area apart from the restaurant. Our server was nice but extremely slow and did not inform us about 3 items that they were out of on the menu. All of us ordered drinks that were half filled and outrageously priced. My mothers martinis was expensive the way it was and they gave an upcharge of $5 for belvedere without warning. The whiskey beats the men were ordering were half a shot for $12 per drink. We then proceeded onto the appetizers. I had split the crab cakes with a family member and they were fishy and an extremely small portion size for the amount you're paying. We moved on to soups and salads, my wedge was amazing and the French onion soup lacked flavor with very large onions that weren't cut and hard to eat. I had the filet mignon with Bernaise which was great. One persons meat was far too rare for medium rare and when asked to recook it came out chewy and over well done. We are definitely not a hard crowd to please and everyone seemed disappointed in the service and portion sizes. The entire hotel was dead empty on a busy weekend, was disappointed for an experience that I was very excited to have. read more

Quiet and exclusive. Staff welcoming and happy to be of service. Southern hospitality at it's finest! Chancellor's Grill has it's own menu. Price point rivals all other nicer restaurants on the square and up. But, it is unique. Nothing is churned out here! Careful thought given to every detail. Daughter and I had BBQ shrimp appetizer and chose filet as our entree. Special ordered our favorite drink, not on any menu, and all was perfect. Just lovely. My new favorite place on the square!
