Loved the food. The margarita was great too. We were traveling and it was a great food experience.

First the pros: ambiance and service are great. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive and personable. Cons: the food. I ordered the Cauliflower wings and the scallops "atop wilted spinach and beurre blanc". The cauliflower was extremely heavily breaded. Extremely. Wasn't expecting that and it was disappointing. I had to peel off the breading and the discards almost filled the bowl it was served in. The scallops were a good size, but unfortunately very very sandy. I had to send them back. Also I had to ask what happened to the spinach and they told me it was under the scallops. There was about one leaf of spinach under each scallop. Not exaggerating. I sent it back, which is something I RARELY do. I couldn't find anything else on the menu that wasn't fried or pasta. I like to eat low-gluten (not allergic just know I feel better without it) and there were no options on this menu besides the scallops and maybe the salmon, which I didn't try. They quickly agreed to take the scallops off the bill (didn't seem surprised at all that I didn't like them) but I don't think I would ever go back, except for to get some drinks from the bar area.

We chose this restaurant on a whim and so happy we did! It's a tapas style restaurant and everything we got was amazing! Our waiter was kind and very helpful in explaining how to order and what to get! They had both small and large plates. We would definitely come again!

OMG!!! You have to go to this place!! We were trying to find a place in Oxford that want your typical bar food, and thankfully found The Sip!! We came in right before last call and ordered cauliflower "wings", Brussels sprouts and bruschetta.... 5 stars for each item! I know it's a wine place but I ordered a lemon drop martini and it was excellent Atmosphere was perfect and they have outside dining as well.

If I could give more stars I totally would! It was the best time! My friend and I were coming from out of town to go to a concert at the Lyric so we had to find some yummy food beforehand. First off, I love tapas-style restaurants so this peaked my interest right when I saw the menu. There is not a parking lot, but there were some street parking and a lot that you have to pay for. We didn't have any trouble finding a spot close by but a weekend might be a different story. Our waiter was the absolute nicest and he answered any and all questions we had about the menu! For our meal, we ordered crispy Brussels sprouts, Goat cheese and Fig Bruschetta, General Homie's Cauliflower wings, and Beef Empanadas. It was very hard to choose! Everything was full of flavor and really tasty, but if I had to pick one it might have been the Goat cheese and fig Bruschetta and the brussels sprouts are a close second. But all were really good! I order the lady love as my first drink, and I'm not much of a tequila girl, but it was mixed really well and you could taste the strawberry. For my second drink, I asked if the bartender could surprise me with a rum-based drink. When I received it the waiter said you should feel like you were at the beach, and it totally did feel like that! Quite delicious. Wishing this restaurant could move to Memphis because I would go back all the time. If you're in town, definitely check it out, you won't regret it!

If I could give this restaurant more than 5 stars I would. I visited from out of town on a Tuesday night and was seated very quickly. Our waiter was great. Very sociable and well informed when we had questions about the dishes. Everything on the menu looked great but in the end we decided to get the crispy Brussel sprouts, Goat cheese and Fig Bruschetta, and the Beef Empanadas. Each plate was great. It's hard to pick a favorite and you can't go wrong with either. We had only planned on getting three plates but the food was so good we ended up ordering the Cauliflower wings as well which did not disappoint. The drinks were also great! I cannot recommend the key lime pie cocktail enough. It was one of my favorite that I've ever had and tasted exactly like a slice of pie. Everything we had was great I was only sad that I was full and couldn't taste more. Great sultry nighttime atmosphere and they have a spacious outdoor patio. We were able to find parking in a lot but I could see it being more of an issue on the weekend since it seems to be a big college hangout area. Wish we lived closer so I could come back but next time I'm in Oxford I'll be stopping by.

Good food, and Great drinks! Love the appetizer menu here, but the main menu items are just fine. Very dimly lit but still a cool vibe inside!! Cauliflower Wings and Goat Cheese and Fig Bruschetta are a MUST TRY!

I stopped by this lovely tapa & wine restaurant on the Square because I was hearing from friends to check it out. Upon entering it has beautiful decor with TVs at the bar for sports. I sat at the bar to indulge in the drinks & light bites. They have an extensive wine list with even multiple options of port wine, which I love! And they offer flights. I ordered the goat cheese & fig bruschetta and was able to add some pieces of prosciutto to it because I didn't need an entire board. I was grateful for that & it was delicious! I had two of their signature cocktails which were good but not anything exciting. The chicken fettuccine pasta was ok. I could've tried something else. Overall, it's a beautiful spot to catch up with friends and share some food items and enjoy some wine!

We attended a surprise birthday party here on a Monday night The girl that served us was very nice and quick to bring whatever we requested. The charcuterie board was delicious! The meats, cheese, and cream cheese bread was perfect for the large crowd. The atmosphere inside is dark and quiet. I would love this for a date night. This might sound weird, but I loved the bathroom decor! Bright red / hot pink lips wallpaper ascended the black/white flooring and cabinets.

She carried this review up to the 3 I'm giving Non-Vintage. First of all, there was a severe deficiency of seating and staff for this event. No one greeted us when we entered, we moved chairs ourselves to make an accommodating space out of the way of the performers, and at no point did a member of staff take our order outside of waiting at the bar. The line for the bar was right in the way of the performers, and many people were forced to wait 10+ minutes for a drink order because there was only one bartender working. Another staff member had offered to help, and the bartender DECLINED, forcing us to continue to wait. I did try the wings and the charcuterie, they were good. I tried the nonalcoholic hibiscus drink and the nonalcoholic summer cooler drink. The summer cooler was much better in my opinion, but both were good nonalcoholic options. I think I would like to try this place when they are not hosting an event, I'm sure it's lovely when they are staffed appropriately for the shift. However, I was sorely disappointed tonight being forced to wait nearly an hour at the bar, missing parts of the show and on my feet for just a drink.

The bartender was by herself and she was working her tail off! There was not a lot of servers, and it was later in the evening, but our bartender was fabulous! She was also our waitress. Started off with the martini mini board. A variety of cheese, nuts, and meats. It was very good for a starter. Not too much and a fun choice to share. We were not a fan of the dried apricots, but ate everything else. We then shared the pesto chicken flatbread. Crisp and warm. Would definitely get again. It was towards the end of the night and some of the staff gathered around the bar and started chatting with us. We told them we were from Baton Rouge. And got on the topic of football. Fun times and getting to know the staff. Our bartender ended up being in the same sorority as our daughter. It was a great evening. We will definitely be back! And highly recommend! Hail State!

I had a fantastic espresso martini and the best brussel sprouts I've ever tasted! So I was excited to come try something else. On the plus side, the bathroom was so nicely decorated. It was also very clean. I sat at the end of the bar, beside the little section of books. The bartender was nice. I ordered the Ember&Passion cocktail. Although it was pretty good, it was quite mild. Unexpected with the ingredients in it. I was surprised that the level of expected heat was not very detectable. I give it 7/10. When I came here before in the winter, the temperature was perfect and I don't remember being too bothered that they don't have cocktail napkins. But yesterday it was quite warm in the restaurant and not having these napkins wasn't good. Nobody in the restaurant had any type of napkin under any drink! I noticed that just like mine, every glass of water from every patron had a puddle of condensation under the glass. Each time I picked up my glass of water, it would drip onto my food and clothes. My two menus got so wet. I suppose they made this decision to save themselves a lot of money. As for the food: My parmesan truffle fries were excellent!! Hot, crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked in the middle. Best I've had in a long time. The Alabama white sauce on the side was just your typical sauce. It tasted just like every other Alabama white sauce that I've had so was not disappointing. But I actually ended up not using it because it was too thin and it didn't add anything to the fries. The fries were excellent enough on their own. I ordered my burger "pink" but there wasn't any pink to it, but I wasn't that bothered about it. Burger and the toppings were tasty, except for the fried green tomato. Looking closely at the picture, you can see that it was SO SMALL compared to the size of the burger. When a restaurant does that, don't they realize that it makes for a glaring disappointment?! It apparently came from near the end of the tomato, and not the middle. If you are going to offer a fried green tomato on a burger, then I feel as if you should only use the larger slices of the tomato, and save the smaller ends for maybe putting in salads. I've always been obsessed with fried green tomatoes. After having my first two bites of burger and still not reaching the tomato, I took it off to eat by itself. Sadly, it tasted terrible! I was surprised. Obviously, they didn't season the tomato or the batter. (Salt and pepper go a long way.) The burger toppings apparently made the tomato batter not only soggy, but also this strange thick texture. Like mushy and chewy at the same time. 1/10 Worst problem: FLIES!!! So many flies! When I just had my drink but no food yet, I noticed them but was not bombarded by them at that point. It wasn't until my food came. All of a sudden I was literally surrounded by them. They were everywhere! No exaggeration. I actually had to use only one hand to eat and the other hand to constantly move back and forth over my food. I eventually gave up and set the plate of some of my fries about 4 inches in front of my burger in order to hopefully draw the flies to the fries so that I could eat my burger. Unfortunately, after only four bites of my burger, when I set it down to take a drink of water, a fly landed on it within one second. Obviously, that was my last bite, and even when I was moving the plate closer to the end of the counter, two more flies landed on it. The glass of straws was inches from me. That, and the book closest to me seemed to be where they gathered to wait for their opportunity to dive bomb me. So many of them! It turned my stomach when I realized that I had been drinking from a straw with my water and I'm sure there had been flies on it before I got there. Every person that gets a straw in their drink at this restaurant has had a fly sitting on top of it. When the bartender told me about the desserts, it turned my stomach to think of just how many flies were in the kitchen. Had I known the fly situation was that bad when I first got my drink, I would have never stayed there, and I certainly would have never ordered food. I do think it is a real shame because the winter months are a totally different experience in that restaurant. But because of how horrible it was this time, I just can't ever come back.

When it came to service however, it was severely lacking. Slow, understaffed and rude. I like to look at how a restaurant or bar's higher staff treat their employees. Bar Fontaine's managing staff should be VERY ashamed. According to them, the management is super nice to the customers but not to the employees constantly starting drama and making it difficult for an employee to keep their job. The head chef is also apparently a real a-hole and says inappropriate suggestive comments to their female staff as well, the server was telling me.
