So very lovely! Excellent food and amazing service. I love to try new places when I'm traveling, and this was worth the trip. There are daily specials which I'm sure are with a trip back for me. I don't even like squash but it came with the steak tips and I ate it all. I had the blackberry tart and it was perfect with one of the best crusts I've had in a dessert.

Everything was delicious! We started with the bread basket (very generous portions and variety for the menu price), then had the African spiced chicken, and the shrimp and peas for entrees. Both were really tasty and interesting dishes with somewhat unexpected combos. We split the crispy rice fritters for dessert, with the bay leaf ice cream providing a nice counterpoint. Drinks were also fun: I had "The Breeze at Dawn," and then had another because it was a refreshing and well balanced cocktail for this gin fan. We appreciated being able to sit outside, and also that the staff checked in on us to make sure we were doing alright with the lively large party next to us on the patio. We thought we might've been lost in the shuffle when it took 15 minutes to get our drinks after ordering the first round, but after that minor hiccup service was top-notch. Would absolutely recommend Grit to others!

I loved this place and I cannot wait to go back the next time I am in town! We went on Sunday after church for Sunday brunch. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and holy cow! That thing was loaded! There was so much ham I almost couldn't fit it in my mouth! My dad ordered the bananas foster French toast and he ate all of it!

Great atmosphere! Indoor and outdoor covered seating . We are outside and had a wonderful brunch. Employee were cheerful and attentive. Food was fantastic. I had the Bananas Foster French Toast and loved it. My wife had the burger without a bun. She said it tasted great. My daughter had the breakfast sandwich and loved it. Large sandwich so she only ate half. Would be great to share with someone if your not a big eater or on a budget.

My mom and I were lucky enough to get in for brunch and it was delicious... quality food, amazing taste and fabulous service. I highly recommend giving it a try!

This place is defiantly a gem! Located in a small beautiful area in taylor,ms..Service was fantastic, everyone smiles and greets you with enthusiasm. The restaurant has a farmhouse feel to it, the floors look original. The food was really good, I had the roast beef special po boy and my wife had the grilled chicken sandwich with a fried egg on top. A small mistake was made on my wife's meal, and with out hesitation they immediately comped us for there incredible banana bread pudding with homemade vanilla ice cream on top. Again, kudos to the service, management, and chef. Definitely will go back! Can't wait to try the brunch.

I was lucky enough to have brunch at Grit this weekend, as I was in town for a friend's wedding. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, from the facade and the art all the way down to the plates and mugs. The food rivals the best I've had in San Francisco, and the service was friendly and attentive. I am posting a bunch of photos because the spot is very new and people should know about it!

Fantastic food, service, and drink menu. Awesome area just 15 minutes outside of Oxford. Worth the drive over either before or after a game.

Heard we had to try Ajax, the diner, not the soap. We stopped in for lunch before heading to Nashville airport to come home. The diner is about what you'd expect inside. Old, kitschy and full of decor. We sat in a booth an were greeted by a waitress promptly for drink orders. Cokes and waters. They deliver the coke in a neat Ajax cup. I ordered the chicken fried steak. Wife ordered the chicken and dumplings and step son ordered catfish. Everything arrived very quickly and everything was hot and southern deliciousness, except the corn bread. The corn bread was dry and not very good at all. Pretty sure it was yesterday's leftover bread or someone needs to pull it 5 minutes sooner from the oven. Unanimous at the table, Everton e had garb corn bread. No big deal. The chicken fried steak was full of flavor and cooked perfectly. Gravy was great and the red beans and rice side was awesome. All great flavors. Wife loved the chicken and dumplings, good flavor and tender chicken. She got a side of sweet potato casserole and loved it. I had a bite and it was delicious for certain. Step son had the fried catfish, he is not a big seafood eater but he absolutely loves the catfish. I had a big piece and it was cooked perfectly and tasted great as well. The staff was outstanding, the service was great and the food was excellent sans the cornbread. Ajax is a neat little diner in the heart of Oxford. It's a little pricey as is everything in this college town, but it was worth the visit.

She said she'd bring me water and got backed up. I ended up refilling my water at the bar. This is a long review but it has a happy ending, I promise. Her name was Julie. I sat at the Duce next to the window right by the bar. Julie told Me she saw me get my own water. She said she was going to take care of my bill. Surprised that my feedback resulted in this level of recover I asked if the restaurant is taking care of my check or if she was. She said the manager offered a small discount on the salad but she was sorry I had this kind of experience and wanted to make sure I Came back and gave them another chance. She said this was her passion and wants to make sure her guests are taken care of. I insisted I pay and explained I was there on business so I wasn't paying for it myself. After several time trying, I just said "thank you and I wished everyone cared as much." That was by far the most sincere service recovery I ever encountered and it was at the cost of the associate. Manager never game to the table. I don't recall seeing anyone that fit that description either. This is a mid to upper tier price point "nice" establishment so expectations should reflect that. Julie owned it and took one for the team. I felt horrible she felt she needed to do that. I hope she doesn't do this often. Experience not so good but I experienced worse. Food was okay to good. Julie was outstanding. I don't carry cash but I gave her everything I had. The only response I need to hear that would make me change my mind is if Julie was refunded for my check. Some places tend to get lazy when serving bar food, but that is not the case for The Growler. There is so much seating available if you are planning to hang out with friends, and they have a few tvs and games available for use.
