Food was really good but portions were very small. I decided to get 2 small plates, the croquettes and the shrimp as a full entree but they were very small, wish it came with bread or some type of cracker to make it more whole if your making it an entree. Also asked for a plate to serve apps on and was given a tea cup saucer, saucer could hold a knife on the edge. Our table also order the chicken, waitress didn't know how to describe the Mississippi mole. Rarely do I ever leave a bad review and just let things go, but I was very disappointed in my experience at Miscellanea Spirit House. Went here with a friend at sat at the bar. Next to us were two women (one of which must have been the owner or manager). I received a FaceTime phone call and answered it. The lady asked me hang up my phone call as there were "other customers" around and she didn't want them to be "distracted" by my phone call. I was on the phone for a whopping 6 minutes, last call had already happened, and there was only 1 table occupied at that time. Am I not a customer too? I can understand if I were screaming on the phone for 20 minute and just sitting at the bar. But my friend and I ordered food and drinks throughout the evening. She also later proceeded to complain about the college kids coming to her establishment and them only wanting to post "Instagram pics" and not buying drinks/food. This is a college town and the college kids bring in 90% of Oxford's revenue. I am sure some of them just want the pictures of the speakeasy, but I am sure most of them are actually ordering. Overall, very offended by the way I was treated. Food and drinks are not worth the price- there were also out of chicken, potatoes, fish, and desserts. Atmosphere is nice, but will not be returning... there are plenty other nice places in Oxford where people can take pictures too. read more

The shrimp was amazing! Idk what's in the sauce but it is yummy. The flat iron steak was tasty as well topped with chimichurri sauce and arugula. We also had the potato's which I didn't get a photo of they were nice crunch and were hot the way fries should be. Food comes out very fast so be ready to eat when you place your food order. We sat in the vault it was not as loud as the other areas in Miscellanea which was nice for conversations. Our waiter was as very attentive we had excellent service! read more

As we were leaving, I watched him go to every table and say, "You have five minutes, then you need to leave," and walk away without giving anyone a chance to respond. Vibe, atmosphere are 5 stars. Service was lackluster for the prices, but they have only been open for a few weeks so it is understood. Seating in the conservatory definitely needs to be adjusted. Needs an air purifier. Super dusty. Fish dinner and shrimp appetizer were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Absolutely delicious. Chicken pot pie croquettes were on the side of dry and bland. Some sort of gravy could have really elevated it. Chicken burger flavor was delicious, but was a little dry. Kale slaw was on the spot! Drinks were pretty good. Definitely need more than one bartender in each room, though. All in all we will definitely come back. Can't wait to see if the kinks were worked out in a few months.
