Then we checked our receipt and saw all six of us were charged $37.95! We hadn't paid attention at the time - one guy paid for his and his 3 guests and he assumed it covered all six of us, but then my husband showed him our receipt - $37.95 each. We asked for the Prime Buffet manager and some woman came over and said they didn't know where the manager was but they couldn't issue a refund, that there was some kind of 'internal marketing issue.' We insisted on speaking to her supervisor, and she sent over the casino shift manager, who also said he didn't know where the manager was. Told us we should have said something when we paid and that since we had already eaten some CRAB (2 out of the six of us) there was nothing he could do. Of course, showing him the website photo and a picture of the sign outside did nothing. He was incredibly rude, told us we should just stop eating and leave and he would issue a $35 credit on one person's club card, nobody else's. Of course, we had come in just for the shrimp special, had driven all that way and were not about to leave without eating, especially since it wasn't even a full refund of the $13.00 price difference. And the worst part? The card holder went to cash out when we left, and she was told there was ZERO on her card - so he lied to us. I sent an email to the Casino via their website on the following Monday morning, and here it is two days later and they haven't even bothered to reply. The roast pork and the chicken were dry, and the only decent thing there were the desserts. NEVER GOING BACK.

So here we are at the Silver Reef Casino. An open area outside of the crowds. We called the local number to make our reservations and to avoid these online reservations agencies that just inflate the prices. We ended up with a nice hotel with clean rooms. Our room has queen size beds with a medium firmness. This room is clean and spacious. It has a large flat screen TV, a decent sized mini fridge, a dresser for those of us who like to unpack. The A/C unit heats nicely. There is a large vanity for the bathroom and the tub shower offers shampoo and body wash. The bonus to staying at a casino hotel is the addition of security. Less worries about your car. Then there's the restaurants that are available, here there are 5. So there it is, well kept rooms, plenty of free, secure parking, and on site restaurants as well as some adult entertainment before getting some shut eye. Much more relaxing here instead of being in the crowded big cities with minimal parking.

The only real downside is the overall price. I think just given the location I wish it were slightly cheaper. Adults are $45 and seniors are $37. There aren't a lot of good quality buffets around so I do understand it sets them apart it just may attract more guests at a bit of a cheaper price. We used to visit this place once in a while before COVID. Today June 5, 2026, we attended a…read morebusiness event there as registered guests. Upon arrival, we were surprised to find security guards at the entrance requiring government photo identification. It struck us as a sign of how much the situation has changed in Metro Vancouver that a venue we once entered freely now has security screening. One person in our group, a 93-year-old woman, did not have photo identification with her. She does not drive, and both her BC ID card and health card are currently being renewed, leaving her without government-issued photo ID at the moment. Who would have thought she would need to bring her Canadian passport to attend a private event? The security guards strictly enforced the policy and denied her entry. Despite the obvious circumstances and the fact that she was a registered guest attending a private event, no discretion or flexibility was shown. The event organizers themselves requested an exception on her behalf, but their request was also denied. I have since learned that the casino has changed ownership and is own by Snuneymuxw First Nation, which may explain the heightened security measures and a more rigid approach to guest screening. Unfortunately, the experience left the impression that management and security were exercising poor judgment and showing little flexibility, even in the case of a clearly elderly guest attending a registered event. What should have been an enjoyable occasion became a disappointing and frustrating experience. In addition, the atmosphere in the surrounding area seems very different from what it used to be. Personally, I no longer feel as comfortable or secure in the area, particularly after dark. Overall, this was not the welcoming experience we had come to expect from this venue. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!
