It's close to home and offers a lot of activities to do. It has children's playground equipment, 2 basketball courts, 4 BIG, tennis courts, a dirt track, clean bathrooms, picnic area, nice spacious landscape and the most important, it's kept nice and clean. This park is one of my favorite parks in Studio City. They have recreation areas and can let you sign up for sports/classes that interests you. Recently, I had taken few classes with couple of their teachers/coaches and they are WONDERFUL! Earlier this morning I went to play tennis with one of my friends. Tennis is one of my favorite sports to watch and to play. We don't keep score. We just like to play and have fun. You can walk, jug, people walk their dogs, kids, they have picnic areas and do a lot of kids birthday parties.. or you can just simply sit in silence and enjoy nature, the sunlight and have a good, peaceful time. Private lot parking, or street nearby parking. They are closed on Sundays. Kind of weird, but it's their rules, not mine. That's when people usually spend time with their families. I'm…read morean extremely tough critic, and I literally have nothing bad to say about this outstanding organization. If you're looking for a league for your son, please take the time to read on. My son has been playing youth basketball since he was 7 years old. After becoming tired of city funded "leagues" and their revolving door of coaches, we found L.A.Kingz and the incredible Coach Alex and Coach Chris. Incredible doesn't even do them justice. My son was ok, pretty good, but needed direction and work. Coaches Alex and Chris are able to connect with every player on an individual level to determine how to bring out the best in them, and that is exactly what they did with my son. My son was also a bit shy at first, and within a few months, he was connected with his teammates, outspoken and happy all of the time. It was so beautiful to see. Words just can't explain the joy I have as a mother watching him shine. If my son was ill or slightly injured, he would tell me, "Mom, I have to get better soon, I can't let my team down." My son is an only child, and in this league, he found a brotherhood of wonderful and supportive young men. There is so much to this league. So much. My son is now 14, AND HE IS a BEAST ON THE COURT, a defensive instrument that completes the titanic machine that is his L.A.Kingz team and league. It's unbelievable how these coaches are able to bring out the best in these kids. That said, it does mean that these players must commit and work hard. One must show this dedication, and in return, he will become the best he can be. I attribute my son's physical and emotional well-being to this phenomenal league. I could go on gushing about all of the amazing times and moments my son experienced, but this review is getting a tad long. If you're looking for a league, please give L.A. Believe it or not, this park is not only for kids. I also love having fun in the sun or during twilight. It has so many different activities to do. I love to get on the swing, even slide on the slides and be a kid and be young at heart. It has a nice grass area with some workout equipment closer to the street. I have worked out in the past on those machines. You can jog, walk, walk your dogs and just chill and relax. I have also done yoga 2 or 3 times in the past. It is pretty big and beautiful. Nature is always beautiful to me. Nice trees, benches to sit and relax and eat a light meal or have a birthday party. I have seen families held birthday parties there so many times. It is a good getaway from home when you want to be alone or take your kids there to play. Plenty of parking on the streets to park your cars and just walk right into the park. Recently they have done a major and nice renovation to the playground and made it more durable and safe for the kids to play in the playground. Upgraded the place, structure and the ground surface. Which is a major PLUS FOR SAFETY!! Love this park and is so close to my house. I can even walk there. Also very CLEAN!! The reason I am giving 4 stars is that it has no bathrooms. I mean most parks have at least 1 or 2 bathrooms. Why doesn't this park have a restroom?? It is so IMPERATIVE to build a bathroom somewhere in the park!!! Where are we supposed to go when mother nature is calling us?? Doesn't matter whether you are a kid or an adult. When you got to go, you got to go. I could have given 3 stars, but since this park brings back a lot of good times and memories, I don't want to duck a star for that. Briarwood Park is a Los Angeles city park that reminds me of my childhood. However, it is certainly not in a lovey-dovey way and definitely not a compliment. Let me explain why... If you are attempting to locate Briarwood Park; you might be surprised at where you end up. Although Briarwood is located essentially in the Bel-Air neighborhood - it's entrance is at the end of a quiet, sleepy cul-de-sac of Almaden Court. The black metal fences surrounding the entrance make it seem like this is actually a private property and you will certainly think, "This is the park? Am I allowed here?!". Definitely not a welcoming spot. Parking is reserved for the street and is a little tough with the residents' extra cars and trash bins at the curb. The reason Briarwood reminds me of my childhood is because I grew up in one of the most crime-ridden, poverty-stricken, ghettos in the US (on the list of the most dangerous places to live, yearly). Our playgrounds/parks looked like something out of a scary movie with unsafe equipment (if any, at all) and basically a dirt lot. I can compare Briarwood to such a description. Once you enter through the off-putting fencing, Briarwood is basically an empty lot-space that they decided to dump a playground on and call it a park. The playground is clean and modern enough but it fits the horror movie vibe because there were no kids (or anyone else in the park for three whole hours). Not to mention, the grass is mostly dead, there was a huge pile of manure-fertilizer hanging out stinking up the place and trash everywhere (Koolaid Jammers pouches, candy wrappers and other disposables) with NO trash cans anywhere in sight. Are there picnic tables? No. Water fountains? No. Nothing. This is the type of place you would expect to find a used condom. It is seriously an insult to other parks to even categorize Briarwood as such. There are some bordering large trees which gives Briarwood a slight boost and some cute wildlife abound: I saw a large Scrub Jay, a friendly ground squirrel and the cutest gopher ever who kept popping in and out of holes like the wack-a-mole arcade game. That gopher was seriously the only plus I got out of Briarwood. Supposedly, if you take the downhill ramp-like slope on the right side by the entrance; you will find some basketballs courts. I didn't venture down there so I can't remark on their quality but if that area is anything like the main acreage - then it sucks. Honestly, there is absolutely no reason you should ever catch yourself at Briarwood unless you're hoping to meet Mr/Mrs Gopher. Save yourself from reminders of my childhood.

A lot of homeless, and weird people are around and staring at you and your children. Be cautious and careful. They usually have some events going on and recently attended a Mother's day type of an event where they sell all types of things. Mostly jewelry, artwork/sculptures and paintings. Some clothes too. The playground is safe for little children and the spongy floor is fun to play on. It is also safe if a child falls and will not hurt themselves. The park is full of squirrels and they can be dangerous at times. Watch out for them and your kids. The park is not well MAINTAINED!! A lot of trash is all around. Last but not least, they have NO BATHROOM! It's a bit of an issue for us and our children. Please, take the time and get some sort of a portable bathroom there. It shouldn't cost that much; and, consider the fact when people need to go, THEY NEED TO GO!!! No parking, and plenty of parking on the side streets. Take yourself and your kids to a better park. The closest park is Woodbridge park. It's a lot nicer, cleaner and more activities to do. Newly renovated too...

For the festival there were a few food trucks on the street, but you really didn't need to buy anything as long as you were willing to wait in a long line for a free pretzel, ice cream, and bottle of water. Just make sure to check in at one of the tables first where they'll ask you for your name and email and then give you tickets for the pretzel and ice cream and then you can get in line. One person is allowed to ask for multiple tickets for their family. The festival is kid centric, like the entertainment on stage were kids dancing and the live music was also aimed at kids. One song had lyrics that sounded like "Simon Says". There were also several tents that had a bunch of freebies like stickers and potato bag clips and even a booklet of the U.S. Constitution, which makes sense since a lot of the booths were promoting various local politicians. There's an onsite bathroom by the basketball courts, but beware that it's not the cleanest, but it's a public bathroom, so of course it isn't. If you have kids, this festival was made for you. If you don't, you can still enjoy the freebies, but it's not really something you'd want to stay around long for.

Apparently my son isn't the first special needs child to attend this school and then get booted out when he or she didn't rise to their standards. Never mind all the money I had to pay to buy the uniform, the basketball and the initiation fee. This is awful what the owner is doing. She's getting $500 upfront and letting these special needs kids play for several months and collecting the monthly dues on top of the initiation dues and then kicking them out of the program. What a lucrative side hustle. Again, if your child has any kind of disability, do not attend Royal Basketball School.
