Well I did not follow my own advice and decided to try them out again because they are the only restaurant that has Peking Duck. So I called first and asked if they had Peking Duck available that night and she said yes. So I ordered it. Then I get a phone call from them saying it's not available. I said but I called and asked you and you said it was. Then after stammering she said oh it will only be available after 8:00 p.m.! I told her fine, then cancel the entire order. Which she didn't do. And I called back 90 minutes later and asked why she didn't cancel the order and she lied and promised she would. I had to call GrubHub and when they called her to tell her to cancel the order she hung up on them! You can't make this stuff up. read more

BEST CHINESE/JAPANESE w/ Delivery available-- in/near Brick, NJ. Japanese sushi rolls are the freshest, gently assembled I've had in years. And I've been to Japan several times. Very subtle, delicate flavors, truly characteristic of the freshness of their avocado & beautifully fresh fish. Refined as can be. Seafood Udon is great. The Chinese menu is flavorful--even the pork fried egg rolls are special. Spring rolls weren't as good. Steamed garlic string beans are terrific. Wonton soup is all I've tried of their good offering of soups so far; I don't want to leave it out. Good on-the-bone bbq spare ribs, plenty meaty and not overcooked. Everything I've ordered is good here; wish I found them when I first moved to the area--all other Chinese locally has frankly been almost a waste of money. Chang Wang is super! My family and I were on a getaway and stopped by this place. The place was really big inside. Also when we went, there was an event there. The food was really good. My family ordered a lot of sushi's and all of them were good, I am not sure wat they ordered though. Although, I do remember their dumpling, which was one of my favorite appetizers. I can only speak for the sushi, by which I'm not an expert on by any means. We had friends over one evening and we ordered some Halloween rolls,California rolls, avocado and avocado cucumber,and Philadelphia rolls and the spicy tuna rolls. All were very tasty and average size. Our friends were much more verse in sushi and said they were delicious as well. My only complaint was the price, from which reading other reviews on this place is average, but I've gotten the same items at a place in Brick for 1/2 what I paid here. read more

This place is good! I esp loved it when they were located in lakewood. Now that they're in the stop and shop Plaza in Toms river, it seems perhaps they have a different cool. The food isn't bad, it's just not as good as they used to be. It's also increased in price quite a bit. This was my first time ordering from this place, fancy but empty inside. The prices r comparable to most Chinese food places and it was clean inside, staff was friendly. BUT , will probably never order from there again because although the food isn't bad, it's not great either! I had sesame chicken and it was made from all white meat, um, all white meat is awesome if you were ordering chicken fingers, but for sesame chicken it's lousy ! White meat is very dry and so it was hard to eat without some extra sauce for dipping. The egg rolls were really good though. read more

This is the 3rd time ordering that they forgot something or sent something cold, I always order sushi and for some reason they never send chop sticks, my steamed dumplings where so mushy and our rice and lo mein was cold. There's something about the name Chang Wang that brings out my juvenile side. It sounds made up, or like the punch line to a ten year-old's bad joke. It dares you to have fun at its expense, as you might have in the time before you were aware of other cultures, perceptions of racism, or were truly cognisant of other people's feelings. It reminds one of sing-song rhymes involving urination in soft cola beverages. Even knowing better, I can still barely resist. I admit it. I'm silly. When people ask, "Hey, where'd you go for Chinese?", I want to jump up and shout "Chang to the muthafuckin' Wang! Wuuuuuuahhh!", as I execute two karate chops and a high kick, or perhaps to sing "Chang chicka Wang wang..." in the style of 70's porno music. That's not cool, but accepting and understanding your failures as a person are the keys to overcoming them, and I'm getting better every day. Nevertheless, the name is good branding - I can't get it out of my head once it's in there. But enough about how much of an immature idiot I am. The last time I ordered here, I didn't get sauce for my dumplings, crunchy noodles, a menu, or a fortune cookie. Today, I got sauce for my dumplings; it is very understated, slightly sweet, and it trails a tiny bit of heat that comes on after you've swallowed your bite of food, giving it a pleasant finish. I also got crunchy noodles. They came in a pre-packaged plastic bag like oyster crackers. I'd rather I hadn't. I ordered the Hunan Chicken as the main dish. When I opened the lid, all I could smell was green bell pepper, and I thought, "Oh no, this is going to taste like those crappy Pepper Steak Benihana frozen dinners from back in the day," but it did not, at all. It wasn't quite as spicy as I would have preferred, but like with the dumpling sauce, there was some heat; it was just a little late in arriving to the party. This is not a restaurant whose dishes hit you over the head with strong flavor profiles. I have never before experienced such delicately flavored Americanized Chinese food; the chicken actually tasted like chicken. I can't say either that I have ever actually tasted chicken in a take-out Chinese dish; it's more typically just a neutral protein matrix upon which to suspend sauce, while offering a contrasting texture to the vegetables. I was taken by surprise. Usually, I stuff myself like a pig on Chinese food, feel slightly ill for a while thereafter from all the grease and salt, and am overcome by the urge to sleep it off. I really packed it in today, and I felt great afterward. I still didn't get a menu, nor did I get a fortune cookie, but I suspect those things mostly go in the garbage, so kudos to them for curbing waste. I am giving Chang Wang a two star bump for today's offerings; I really think they're on to something here. read more

Since Bamboo Garden was closed on Monday's, I decided to try out Chang Wang (next to Stop&Shop) on Route 9/Lakewood Road in Toms River. The egg roles were tiny almost yellow highlighter thin in size and did not taste well as they were not cooked properly. The white rice did not taste right (not the usual Chinese rice). Beef broccoli was too dry. Will never order from Chang Wang ever again. read more

We have Fun Friday Lunches during the summer and our office ordered from Chang Wang earlier this afternoon. Their delivery was prompt, the delivery driver was really courteous and helpful and the food was still hot and delicious. We have been fans of Chang Wang since they improved their food in 2014 and moved to their present location. Unfortunately the last couple of times that we have eaten there, the quality of the food left much to be desired. The Mo Shu Vegetable was watery and the Pork Fried Rice had hardly any vegetables in it and tasted a little off. The Spring Roll was exceptionally greasy. We've ordered delivery and take-out. Delivery was always quick and food hot. Since they are close, we also stop by for take-out. Our favorite is the combo egg foo yung. Portions are large and enough for the two of us....hot and delicious accompanied by a fresh tasting delicious egg roll. I have been wanting to come here ever since we moved to the area. To put a long story short , they were above and beyond rude to us. I don't know if it was because we had our toddlers with us or the woman is just naturally an asshole. But she asked us rudely if we wanted a beverage and when I said I didn't get a chance to look yet she rolled her eyes ... I ignored it and we still decided to stay. Then she brings our high chair we've been waiting for I said thank you , she ignored us .. Now, we brushed that off too as maybe she didn't hear us. (Which I'm sure she did ) so now we are ready to order, we kindly raise a hand so she knows we are ready , she screams out while rolling her eyes... "oh now your ready?!" I honestly couldn't believe she was being so rude to us. We came in politely and did nothing to be treated like complete assholes. She was a horrible waitress and rude. The is my go-to Chinese restaurant in the Manchester - Toms River area here in NJ. The food here is much much better than Tang Dynasty in Toms River and the nearby Good Taste. Last time I came here was the summer of 2016. The food had improved quite a lot since then. I like the veggie fried rice and sauteed green beans here. I'm still very traumatized by the bad Chinese food I had tried in this area and I have yet to venture into saucy and soupy Chinese dishes. Now that I found 2 dishes I like from this better Chinese restaurant, I will stick with them for a while... read more

Well, I went there frequently since several year ago and for my concern, it was pretty good. I mean, I got the nice service, the cashier is friendly enough. I enjoyed chatting with her. She sometimes introduces chinese culture to me which could give me some basic ideas of China. Of course, I loved the food I ordered from this chinese restaurant.
