Had an appointment with Juliet. She is a sweetheart. I called to book a last minute appointment due to visiting for work. I was really amazed at how they were able to get me booked & scheduled the same day. I wanted a massage but an added emphasis on foot massage, with scrub, hot towels, massaged & moisturized & I was scheduled for a foot massage in addition. Juliet did really good, she was friendly, explained everything what she was doing & the purpose & relief it gives to your body. She was attentive to what my body was telling her as she was giving me a massage & foot massage. I only put 4 stars because I wish the foot massage provided more of a deep relaxing experience but because it was an add on, that tells me you're not gonna get the whole 9 for your feet. However, Juliet gave me the best foot massage in a short timeframe, I've had. I just wish it was longer & a service by itself. They said that would be fine so me and the wife got a couples massage from 330 to 4 got out and not only where we charged For the hour but we were charged for some other upgrade and end up being $80 over the original price for some wine that we didn't drink. I was given a gift certificate and decided to go for a facial and massage. The facial was so great! I felt welcomed and relaxed the whole service. My skin feels so clean, moisturized and rejuvenated. My esthetician also gave me samples to take home. My massage therapist was so knowledgeable and happy to help my troubled areas. He listened well to what I needed and kept me relaxed. Received a phone call 2 days prior to appointment, stating that it had been cancelled due to "unknown reasons," possibly "overbooking." Was told I would receive a call back with a different time and date for an appointment. When that didn't happen, I called the next day, and was placed on hold for more than 10 minutes! I finally hung up. Called again later and was asked if I could hold for "just a minute." After more than 5 minutes on hold, I hung up again and decided not to call this salon back. Approximately 10 minutes later, I then received a call back from Angela, the owner of the salon. Angela stated that my appointment had been canceled because I had requested that my hair stylist wear a mask! I knew that wasn't true because I've been coming to this salon for years, and my stylist has never had a problem with wearing a mask. I explained to Angela that this was not accurate and noted that I had already been offered an alternate time with my stylist which I had not been able to make, so this wasn't about wearing a mask. Angela then stated that the reason my appointment had been canceled was that I "always no-showed." I replied, "I do not miss my hair appointments! Where is this coming from, and why are you continuing to lie to me?" Angela replied that there had been "a no-show in 2018." "2018!" I exclaimed. "This is 2024!" You're castigating me and making lies up because of something that happened more than 5 years ago...a one-time occurrence?" I had an emergency in 2018, the day this woman is referring to, and I later called the salon and my stylist and apologized profusely, explaining what had happened. But this new owner, Angela, wants to leap from 1 missed appointment 6 years ago to "ALWAYS NO-SHOWS!" Angela then stated that my stylist "didn't want to see me" again because of some unknown factor. "It just didn't work out." I've had my hair done by this same individual for at least the past 4 years, and we've always had a good relationship. So, this explanation didn't make sense either. Angela then alleged that the reason my appointment had been canceled was because I had been "unhappy with spa services." "What spa services?!" I asked incredulously. I've never received "spa services" at this salon...only a haircut! At that point, I requested that Angela to just stop inventing stories. I'm disappointed to even be writing a negative review for this spa. I was so excited to go to the day spa my aunt has been going to for 10+ years. I had the great escapade package booked. When purchasing, we asked for the best package with everything possible and the receptionist suggested the great escape. Told my boyfriend to make reservations somewhere nice for after because my makeup and hair would be done. I came in sweats, brought a dress to change into, spent the morning getting different services in a robe. It was so nice. The insperian spa was turned on for me but shut off within 2 minutes. The receptionist repeated for me not to touch the timer and not to come out, that she would be back to check after 15 minutes. The entire hour passed and she never returned before my massage lady came to get me. So didn't get to experience that at all, as the spa shut off in the tub before I even got in. All day, every service, each employee asked if I was enjoying myself and I'd beam about how it's so amazing and I'm so excited to leave all dolled up and how I had amazing dinner plans lined up. I talked about being excited to leave all dolled up with makeup with EVERY employee. Nails and hair were last & obviously more conversation than mommy massage and facial. Nail tech was there 12 years and assured me the great escape included the makeup. I had my hair shampooed and styled and she took me to the front to wait for the makeup girl to be ready. Receptionist comes out and tells me I'm done, makeups not included. The hair stylist literally told the receptionist, in front of me, how every great escape package she has worked was finished with makeup. Receptionist proceeds to look up who booked my appointment (because I referenced how I was URGED to book reservations "somewhere really nice" because I'd have full hair and makeup done) and said "oh I'm not surprised she told you that she's new here" but then was somehow confused why the nail tech who's been there 12+ years also assured me that makeup was included? Why did several employees not only hype me up, but urged for reservations "somewhere special" just to have me walking out with hair curled and a greasy face with no makeup? I HATE that this ruined the entire wonderful day of services. But to encourage someone to book reservations (SALONS IDEA, NOT OURS) somewhere nice (aka expensive) and then send them out the door with no makeup? Writing this I even feel awful that I even let this ruin the experience, but it totally did. I went to an expensive nice dinner thinking I'd feel so beautiful and just felt disappointed and incomplete. $500 and the salon couldn't say "hey this was our mistake that so many employees told you differently - were sorry, we'll do it today but for future reference, makeup must be added on". Better yet- a suggestion for the salon: at the end of the description for the great escape package, include that makeup must be added on separately. Since other packages include makeup, it's easy to understand why not only guest, but clearly employees are confused about why makeup wouldn't be included in the salons biggest/most expensive package. I have been to Changes Salon many times and have always been happy with their services. However I had an appt for a gel mani and regular pedi at a the end of March with Darlene. My fingers and toes had sores on them from too aggressive treatment. My one foot had a scab on the heel after a couple days. My other foot had a scab on the outside and a huge blister on the bottom. As we headed to Cancun days later my feet were in pain the entire week. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

I went to the Allenberry location for a massage. We were staying at the resort. You have to call the main Mechanicsburg location to make the appointment. The spa annex at Allenberry is opened for appointments but it's not the type with a jacuzzi and sauna and showers and attendants. Sean, the masseuse, met me at the annex. I understand he's usually at the Mechanicsburg location. I usually prefer female massage therapists but I wholeheartedly recommend Sean. He was warm and mellow and very professional. He was fantastic about asking about the pressure that I wanted at the beginning twice and midway. I started on my back and ended on my stomach which was different than all the other massages I've had but it worked out quite nicely. Out of all the massages that I've had, only two would I rate as a ten. This was definitely a ten. (Ironically they were both at a small resort annex versus the luxury spas that I've been to in Los Angeles, Honolulu and Vegas.) I strongly recommend Sean at Changes. read more

Simply amazing!!!! My husband surprised me with the full package!!!!! I arrived at 9am and started with a facial (this was the most relaxing cleansing facials ever!). Next was the exfoliating salt rub then a full body shower laying down for 40 minutes! This was just the warm up....Then it was the most refreshing, relaxing, and rejuvenating massage! Save your time and go somewhere else! I hesitate to give this "spa" one star. But the owner was very attentive and pleasant this morning. Other than that, I would have given it zero stars. Myself and 4 others (one being someone celebrating her 30th birthday) visited this spa this morning (8/20). Her husband had planned a surprise for her. We (the other 4) arrived at 10:40 waiting to surprise her. The owner (I think his name was mark) was very accommodating and pleasant. He asked us multiple times how everything was and if there was anything he could get us. The birthday girl was getting mani/pedi and the 4 of us manicures only. The spa describes your manicure as coming with a "relaxing arm and hand massage prior to selecting your color". None of the 5 of us received a massage at all. Plus, the woman who did my manicure (and one other in our group) did not say one word to either one of us. Holy awkward. Then, upon leaving, the other 2 women said the same thing about their nail technicians. Rude rude rude. Plus, to top it off, I have never in my life received a more horrible manicure. It looks like my 6 year old cousin did it. Lumpy, uneven coverage, and the tips of my nails aren't even covered with polish. Worse thing is, the other 3 women said the same thing about their manicures. Another thing - since when during a manicure are your cuticles not cut back? Apparently at this spa. Never ever again, I should've known better but I guess this is an expensive lesson to be learned! I just moved from New York ( one of the most expensive states to live in yet this place charges almost double if not triple for a lot of the services ) and clearly the people in Pennsylvania do not know what a blow out is. Highly highly disappointed, not only are the prices basically rape, the service is not up to par with the prices they are charging. I've been to high end salons in NY and paid expensive rates for properly done hair, this place is just overpriced and honestly terrible. Never again.... My boyfriend treated me to numerous services and I could've done better on myself. When you get a blowout your hair shouldn't look like you just woke up. I spent over 300 in services and was completely unhappy with everything. I had an appointment to get my hair done again on Monday, this time a more expensive service, a Brazilian blowout .... I'm so glad I canceled it, the owner had the audacity to ask why I was canceling it, like she didn't just notice the terrible blowout the girl that just graduated high school gave me. The wax I received was just as bad, had my legs, Brazilian and underarms done. I ended up with a rash from whatever it is they put on me, I've been waxing for over 4 years and have never had this happen before. clearly had no idea what they were doing, honestly it's an insult to be charged an arm and a leg for the services I received and to end up with the crappy results. I took my daughter and 3 friends to the spa at Allenberry Resort. We each received a massage and 3 of us a facial. The facials were a complete joke. At no time did my service provider tell me what she was doing even when I asked her to tell me what she was putting on my face. There was no steam, no extractions (some people don't like extractions, I understand. I do, however, and expect them since I don't do that type of thing to myself. I want that stuff out!) When I asked at the end of the facial if she was going to do any extractions she said, well I can look but your skin looks good. Humh, really? You never put a light on it, how do you know how it looks? When I looked in the mirror after this 'facial' I still had makeup on! She didn't even get my face makeup off! After all the crap she put on there?? What?? I told my daughter's friend to make sure she asked for extractions. She did and the response was oh I didn't bring my tools with me. What?? Again, no discussion of what she was using, just goop after goop, with the most annoying super light touch massage that was the most annoying thing! My daughter's experience was slightly better but no extractions either. Hand & Stone is better than this place for a facial, don't waste your money here. One friend asked to use the Vitamin D light room. I asked the employee what it actually was and what does it do? She didn't know. I asked her how long do you stay in this weird little room with a weird little light and she didn't know, the timer will go off. Oh, cool, thanks. What???? The massages were better than the facials but still not worth the money. Someone actually walked in on me during my massage. An employee. This is a rinky dink spa, do not go there expecting much. I received a free manicure/pedicure certificate from Mountz Jewlers after getting engaged. I decided before going on vacation that I would use it for a $42 spa pedicure. I saw Kimberly who was very sweet and kind to talk to. The only downfall was that the actual pedicure/massage itself lasted not even 15 minutes and she was onto the polish. I had a partial highlight,trim and ended up being charged 237$!! I was expecting 125$ but she charged 37$ for toner and 27$ for conditioner And What was weird is no one could explain an additional 47$ editorial charge. Until finally I got a call later that evening saying it was a charge for long hair. Be warned long is anything past the shoulder. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My wife called the Allenberry location to book an appointment for spa pedicures. We were given gift cards for Christmas by my in laws. My wife told the receptionist that we wanted the Allenberry location and not the Trindle location. By the way, the Trindle location, is not a spa atmosphere. We've been there before for a couple's massage and it was awful. Anyway, when we arrived for our appointment, the owner asked us if we had an appointment. We stated that we did and he immediately called the Trindle location. Apparently the incompetent receptionist booked us at the Trindle location. The owner asks if we were staying at Allenberry and we said, no. He then says that he would drive us to the other location. I mean, this guy is a moron and doesn't listen. Two stars only because my brow shaping/ spa experience was very good. The salon not at all. Do not come here if you have anything other than naturally straight, texture less hair. I needed to polish up for an interview after a cross country move. When I called them, my first warning should have been the receptionists comment..."what's ethnic hair?" I explained my hair as being very very curly bordering African American hair. She assigned me to a stylist she claimed as specialist of curls for the next day. The Good: The salon was clean, nicely decorated and portrayed a facade of professionalisim. I was oferred a beverage shortly after being seated in their wait room. The spa experience was great. I was seen on time and finished on time. My brows looked amazing! No swelling, or strays and a cleaned hair/browline. I had a wonderful first impression. The bad: My stylist was very late for her appointment with me. The salon was not busy on a Thursday at 10:45 am. Someone came and got my hair washed at 11:00am. That person was very thorough with washing, conditioning and massaging my hair and scalp. They had me wait for the stylist. The stylist came out 10 mins later. No real consultation or analysis of my hair. She grabbed a few strands and stated my hair would be difficult and that it needed a flat iron after blow drying. Then I waited 8 more mins until she sat me at her station . After blow drying some sections, she said "Oh, well your hair is very manageable and responding well to heat!" This led me to belive she knew what she was doing. I was feeling hopeful once more... The ugly (me primarily): Not only did she NOT know how to blow dry ethnic hair, which caused me to look like a lion by the time I paid, (hair was puffy, roots where not properly straightened) her tardiness caused me to be 20 mins late to my interview! Needless to say, I Didnt get the job. I also had to re do my hair because it was already unprofessionally frizzy by the afternoon. THANKS CHANGES. read more

This place is awful. Do not get waxing done at Changes unless you would like to be disfigured. I just had the worst brazilian wax of my life. I am swollen, have raw skin, and severe bruising...oh and lots of hair left. The so-called esthetician took an hour to do my wax (they normally take 15-20 minutes). She also didn't even attempt to do the back. I guess I should be grateful she doesn't know what a brazilian wax is or else I would have raw, bruised skin in other places. Can I also mention again that I still have a lot of hair left? She also repeatedly kept telling me it was my fault for waiting so long to get a wax and that's why it wasn't working. I call absolute BS! She clearly had no idea what she was doing or the salon had poor equipment. Probably both. have been getting brazilian waxes on and off for about 8 years now and have gone 6+ months between waxes with no issues whatsoever. I have even had waxes while traveling/living in third world countries that were 1000X better than this wax. I have never in my life had bruising, swelling, or skin ripped off until coming to Changes. I love Tara and Changes Salon. I've been coming here for over a year. I appreciate Tara's attention to what I need. She is willing both to make suggestions and to work with my ideas. I get lots of compliments on my cuts from her even th my own daily styling skills are limited. The cuts also grow out well. From the front desk greetings to the massaging shampoo experience to the beverage offerings, Changes is a very welcoming place! Massage was good but you could hear everything going on in salon. Had my nails done for my wedding, french tips, simple, classic. Lines are uneven and very thick making my long nail beds look stubby, plus I have polish left on my finger tips. My tech was not exactly friendly. The young woman who did my daughter's nails worked very well with her, though 35 for a mani pedi for a 5 yo seemed rather expensive. And 75 for the quality, or lack there of, was way too much. My pedicure didn't last a week, I've never had a full thing of polish fall off my toe before or since. The best part was a few weeks later I had a FUNGAL INFECTION in my big toe. By far the best pedicure I have ever had! My grandmother took me here as a post-job transfer and move treat and it was awesome! We were able to just soak for about 10 minutes and were not rushed at all. Not to mention the two girls that did our pedis were so friendly. They involved us in their conversations and were just very nice and considerate as to not have personal conversations in front of clients. The only downside was that the girls doing our pedicures were yelled at by the manager while working on us. Apparently they ordered lunch and it was delivered but they didn't have their money at the front because they were with us (the clients). So the manager interrupted our wonderful pedis to ream these nice, professional ladies a new one. The manager was very unprofessional. Not to mention the manager didn't even bother apologizing to us. I chose this salon after hearing numerous good reviews, and was excited to dye my hair for the first time. Customer service was amazing, and everyone was warm and welcoming. However, even after thoroughly explaining what i wanted and showing numerous pictures, my hair came out the exact opposite of how I wanted it to. I left the salon with a very bright, platinum blonde, despite the fact that i asked for a warm, natural blonde. There was also a very harsh line between the highlight and the root of my hair. I was unhappy with my highlights, so I called them and asked to come back in and get it a little more warm toned. I was told that the issue would be fixed, but I ended up coming out with my hair darker, and still cool toned, even though I explicitly said I didn't want it darker, just warmer. Throughout my experience I felt as though my suggestions were being ignored, and my needs were not met. The best pedicure I have ever had by far!! My appointment was from 9-10. I arrived at 845 and she took me early, and kept going til after 10. It was absolutely fabulous! A lot of mall-type nail places will rush you in and out - I love to just soak for 10 minutes and release the stress. The pedicurist gave me an amazing little foot massage and everything. They're a bit pricier than say Glamor Nails or the equivalents - but it's so worth it! read more

I don't think I've ever written a review for a business, but I feel this is necessary: First of all, a backstory. I recently moved here from Chicago. I am a professional actress and singer and have been very blessed in receiving amazing education, fantastic training, wonderful opportunities and luckily, full-service treatment in ALL spas and salons in Chicago and surrounding areas. Walking into Changes, I dumbed down my expectations a bit since this was Mechanicsburg, PA...but not enough to ENJOY what was supposed to be a relaxing experience. Upon entering, the owner's husband was at the desk and didn't say "Welcome" or any salutation. Instead he stared at my friend to speak, so I gave him our names. He didn't reply to me, no. He spoke to my friend instead. As a matter of fact, he spoke to my friend the entire visit. He offered HER a drink (she had to ask me if I wanted water), and handed everything to her while I was left to pick up things myself. My friend was having a hot stone Swedish massage and was taken back first. I don't know what happened back there, but she loved her experience and felt taken care of the entire time. I waited an additional ten minutes before Lawrence, my masseuse, came to get me. He took my form (where I shaded my problem areas-I've studied anatomy, movement and physiology for my Master's, so I take these charts very seriously), and led me to the room. I was surprised. This was the same room the aestheticians use. It was cold, claustrophobic, and I could hear the salon noises and sounds more than the "soothing" music. Oh yea...where was my robe?! Slippers?! Lawrence asked me no questions about my pain. My actual massage was...mediocre. I didn't want a deep tissue, because I'm well aware of my body and after working with the best of the best in Chicago, I knew I needed a medium, Therapeutic approach. It was a painful experience where I felt my problems became even bigger problems and the rest of my body was neglected and rushed. My neck was stiff-now a nerve is being pinched on the same side, my left hand loses feeling when my arm is raised,and I can't turn my head without pain. After the massage Lawrence says,"I usually push my clients, but this was definitely therapeutic. You didn't need pushed." Uhhhh, what the heck does that even mean?! It's not a lingo I'm familiar with, and coming from a dude wearing navy blue, hospital scrubs while all other employees are dressed professionally in black, I'm not sure he even knew what he was doing. I feel worse now than I did before walking into that place. The owner's husband, or whomever that older man (who doesn't give a darn about me) was, paid no attention to me when I came out. While I sat there with my friend, he calls my friend to go look at something, leaving me alone in the lobby. Alone. My friend said he showed her a new room with a hot tub, fluffy robes, wine, etc. He said for an additional $30 she could add this onto her next massage. Well guess what, Mister. I've paid less in Chicago for FULL service. I've been given a robe. I had the option of a steam shower and all toiletries afterwards AND I was treated like a QUEEN, a CELEBRITY, every single time I would go to a place, whether it was my first or fiftieth visit. Some businesses had no idea who I was, but they treated me the same regardless. You could take a lesson from UPSCALE, Chicago spas and salons, Changes. It was my first and last visit to Changes. I spent wayyyy too much money for little respect and zero stress-relieving "pampering" and instead I'm left spending more on co-pays and adjustments to fix what Changes' staff did wrong. I was not thrilled with my experience at the Changes satellite spa at the Allenberry Resort location. The spa charged somewhat hidden fees of a $10 up-charge per service and mandatory gratuity for weekend services. I went with a party of three other girls and no one was satisfied. The staff was not particularly welcoming or accommodating when it came to using the resort/spa credits that came with our rooms. The relaxation room was sparse and only had two places to sit. I've had better treatments at hand and stone. Although I will be returning to the Allenberry resort soon, I will not be booking another service at the spa and will not recommend it to friends or family. read more

First visit today. Had a massage where Terri walked on my back. It was very relaxing for me and clearly something that she is well trained to do. The first part of the massage was with hands while I laid face up and the masseuse was very purposeful with her touch.i would definitely recommend to a friend or return for another service. read more

Called to schedule an appointment today. Told the check in I had been a client before and wanted to schedule a cut and dye. She basically called me a liar saying that they never delete clients from the system and I wasn't found. She was rude, snappy, and full of attitude. She ended up setting up an appointment for a date and time that works for her, without checking if that date was what I wanted, she she originally told me two dayside times. I would have rather the earlier date but I guess a later date worked for her! She then set me up for an appointment saying that it would be several hours to do, when I told her I have a hair cut like Miley Cyrus. How does that take HOURS to cut and dye? I was then informed that going from blonde to black would take even longer. In the end, everything she tried to schedule for me would end up being almost 300$. I called another salon who told me they could do the same look with less steps and for about 100$. From other reviews, I made the right choice with leaving Changes and going to the other salon. Don't treat your clients so poorly on a phone call. To act so rude and snotty and stuck up on the phone...unbelievable. read more

I've had a lot of pedicures and I try to go to different places each time. I will not returning to Changes. It was honestly one of the laziest pedicures I have ever had. I felt like I was in the chair for 5 minutes. From the grooming of the nails to the massage..terrible! My friend and I came for a first Mother's Day outing and I am so disappointed. read more

I have had such great experiences since I have started going here! Everyone is very friendly always greeted with a smile! Bill Hursch is my stylist and he is awesome at color I do 2 shades of blue and some blond, they never fade! I told him I wanted something new but was unsure of what I wanted he decided purple and it looks absolutely amazing! Thanks so much for always making me beautiful! read more
