Really loved the Ginger Beef. Disappointed that they charged extra for fat noodles in their Special dish we ordered. But still enjoyed Chow Mein. Need to up the quality of Sweet and Sour Pork dish. Overall this restaurant is better than most in the 5km radius. read more

I ordered $50.00 worth of food at 4pm online. The website said they left at 415 pm for delivery. As I only live uptown I expected the food shortly. I called them several times and the driver called me several times. He was lost even though I live uptown about 10 blocks from the store. He finally arrived at 610 pm with a bag full of cold food. I asked him to have the manager call me but it's been a year and still no call. No refund. No replacement food, NOTHING!!! As I used to order here about twice a month I figure their terrible service has cost them a minimum of $700.00. Not to mention that once in a while my friends ask me if I will go there for a dinner out, I ask them to pick a different place. It's not like I don't have a Chinese restaurant within 100 feet of my front door. If you don't mind overpaying for cold food that you have to nuke this might be the place for you. read more

Tried it the first time coming from Extreme Airpark my little grandson who eats like a bird and refuses most foods, ate so much I had to check under the table :) We ordered chop suey, sweet and sour and fried rice. Her ate a second time before bed. Everything was really delicious and tasted like home made. There was only two tables occupied while we were there, but the takeout, people coming to pick up food was steady. The ambiance was not too bad, we were there at 4:00pm. Will order ahead next time, so the little guy don't have to wait long. Will be back for sure at least 1x per week. read more

Worst takeout service ever. We ordered dinner for 2 and substituted BBQ Pork Fried Rice with Chicken Chow Mein. When the order came, instead of making the substitution they sent us an order of Beef Chop Suey. So we ended up with 2 orders of Chop Suey (ONE WITH CHICKEN AND ONE WITH BEEF). NO Chow Mein. This same thing happened to us before and when we complained they brought the chow mein 2 and 1/2 hours later. We even pay $3.00 more for the substitution. My partner and I ate here on Saturday and we ordered dinner for 3. This is the best Chinese food in the Vancouver area. Everything was flavourful, portions were large, there were lots of veggies in the dishes, and everything came out really fast. The chicken balls are all white meat and there's actually a huge chunk of meat in the ball instead of just breading. The beef used in the beef chop suey also tasted like a higher quality cut and wasn't super tough or chewy. We had enough leftovers to take home that we ate it again for Sunday's dinner. So sad to write this. This has been our go to for Chinese for over 10 years. I guess it was bought out and man things have changed. We ordered the dinner for 3-chicken balls we're not crispy as they have been and we're mushy. The sauce was so watered down it didn't stay on the balls. The beef and broccoli-all the vegetables were overdone and mushy...so disappointed! The chow mein was flavourless!! I added salt to get something of a flavour. The spring rolls were also mushy and tasteless We have had disappointing food from them before and thought we'd try again. This was the third disappointing order so we will find another place to order from. We will not pay for this poor quality again! read more

UPDATE: Their online menu has been updated and they've included pictures for most of their menu items to aid in your selection! Now that I know which new dishes I'm interested in eating appear in full colour (not some sun-faded window picture that looks unappetizing), I'm guaranteed to try the majority of the things on their menu. We have been here since it opened a few months ago. I have grown to love what to expect. This is not authentic Chinese food. It western style -take out Chinese food. If you are okay with this then you will enjoy the yummy food and do fine. another review stated the staff are friendly. I would disagree...they are stalkers...you can't eat for a few minutes in peace. there is alway a server interrupting you with a mirade of things. - hows your tea/water/etc, can we take this or that away, idle chit chat, and on and on it goes. My spouse and I like dining in quiet..it just doesn't happen here. That is my only criticism. the reasonable priced western fare is a good combination and warm welcome for the white folks who had to gnaw on Chopsticks. (the restaurant before Chan's) I personally really enjoy the lettuce wrap and the wonton soup. The wonton soup comes with broccoli and pork. they also have dinners for one and more. these extra value meals fill you up. I enjoy the place even if the decor is odd and the silly tv's only play sports. i suppose it truly caters to the older white males and there spouses. There just is n't any authentic Chinese food nearby so Chans will do. This is an awesome Chinese restaurant out in Sapperton. It's a large space inside, with some comfortable booths, and nice large tables that make sharing food really easy. You're going to need the space to share since their portions are HUGE. My friends and I ordered a large hot and sour soup (which was enough to feed 6-8 people and we were only 4), shrimps with cashews, ginger beef, mixed vegetable foo young, chicken fried rice and Singapore noodles. Everything here was pretty good. Plenty of flavour, and not much in the way of batter and grease. The only downside was the foo young. there wasn't much in the way of flavour. It just tasted like a bland cheese-less omelet. There weren't a lot of people eating in that night, but they were doing very very well on take-out. There was a near constant stream of people coming in the door to pick up orders. This place is going to be my new go to Chinese restaurant. read more

We went to Chan's Garden for dinner recently -- a first-time visit for us. With it's bright sign, we found it easy to spot at it's Columbia Street location. Once inside, we found a rather bright and stark decor -- bare, mostly-undecorated, white (or off-white) walls, with booths (the table rather 'high' for some of us short types!!), and lines of tables & chairs. My first reaction was memories of the cafeteria-style restaurants of a good many years ago -- no decor or ambience, but a spotlessly-clean, neat, and orderly set-up. Upon entering, we found service to be prompt and friendly. We (a threesome) accepted being seated in a booth -- menus, glasses of water, a pot of tea and cups, and 'tableware' (dinner plates, knives and forks, and napkins), were quickly provided. We asked for bowls, and chopsticks - our request was accommodated promptly. For a starter (while we "researched" the menu), we (two of us) ordered Chinese beer, and an order of deep-fried wonton to share. The beer was good - light, cold, and "hit-the-spot" - the wonton appetizer was 'ok'. For dinner, we ordered to share: crispy ginger beef, szechuan prawns, seafood chop suey, and the house special egg foo young. The food arrived rather quickly (I would say, rather too quickly!!!). The dishes looked colourful, and the servings a good size. The food presentations were the 'good' part of the meal, the food preparations the 'not-so-good' part. --- the crispy ginger beef was gooey, greasy, and lacking in 'real' ginger flavour -- the szechuan prawn dish - consisted of some unshelled prawns, immersed in a thick, and quite terrible-tasting sauce, surrounded by broccoli -- the seafood chop suey - some rather decently-prepared pieces of fish, seafoods, and veggies, but too much gooey and greasy sauce -- the egg foo young - uncooked inside, and a total yuck! Overall: friendly and accommodating service, served up in a stark and cold ambience, with decent presentations of food, that, in our opinion, was certainly not prepared as well, or taste as good as it looked. The food was always great....and then....one night we received our order and while we were eating, all of a sudden...WTF...A SPRING IN MY MOUTH!!!! Yes. a metal spring almost an inch long! WTF.... Ordered take out for dinner. Was pleasently surprised with thr delivery time. They said itd take 45 min to an hour, but the guy came in 20 min tops!:). We ordered rhe singapore noodles, chicken, sweet and sour soup, and the mongolian beef. Everything was really good, the spinach in the chicken was amazing:P. I stopped by here after 2 years and was very pleased that it is still a great place! First off the decor is quite modern, the dining area is clean and inviting and the washroom was decent as well. I ordered the Singapore rice noodle and spicy boneless pork; both were so fresh and very delicious. I was pleased with the amount of meat and veggies in the noodles which were decent bite sized chunks and not piddly little additions. The service was excellent too, very efficient and accommodating. This is an ok Chinese restaurant. We ordered a huge amount of food and my first thought was it was a bit expensive considering that most of the food was veg. The portions are generous and the service was prompt. The food was a bit on the bland side and while it's not greasy ( which is a bonus) the food was a bit on the soggy side. Everything seemed to have been thrown together without consideration for flavour so it seemed that flavours were an after thought. I wasn't expecting some out of the world food but just flavourful Chinese dishes and it seems to lack that flair On the whole will keep looking for more flavourful delish Chinese food. read more

This spot is close to my house and always good. They offer delivery and pick up so it's super convenient. The portions are huge and there is definitely great value for the cost. The reason for the 3 star is mainly because of the decor and atmosphere in the actual restaurant. It isn't very inviting and kind of cold visually. When I go in to pick up there are usually only a couple of tables taken but the location is huge, seems empty. Would recommend this place for take out or delivery. Too Good To Be True.! is what I said after my first 2 visits. Now after 5 visits I can honestly say, Amazing! Absolutely Amazing! The Food here is the best I have ever had. So Fresh Tasting (none of that burnt old oil taste). And the portion sizes you get are huge.! The Staff is exceptional. I still can't get over the size of their sweet n sour boneless pork, and their dry garlic boneless pork.( All Meat! ).
