Always a pleasure here and after the name change and switchover it's still same people for 20+ yrs ago and the taste is same as Hon's but different name. Prices are decent and service is always crazy but good. Will be back for more. We drive from white rock now to get our wonton and beef chow fun fix!

I feel like this is the same management as Hon's but the name just changed to Han Lin. I came here for lunch with a friend and we both got the same lunch special. We got shrimp wonton noodles in soup with potstickers (6). The price came to $14.25 before tax and tip. This is considered a very good price given the price of food these days. The food was super delicious. The gyoza tasted just like Hons. The decor was same as the old Hons. Parking is available in the area for free. I will definitely come back for sure.

We finally tried Han Lin Noodle House (formerly Hon's Wun-Tun House) after hearing so much buzz, and let me tell you - it did not disappoint! This is the spot if you're looking for cheap eats and comforting Chinese food. The vibe? Simple, casual, and welcoming - perfect for locals. Whether dining in through the front door or grabbing takeout from the side, the servers here treat you like family. ‍‍‍ Han Lin brings back all our nostalgic feelings -- it's like stepping back to when we first arrived in Canada. Han Lin's got you covered if you love supporting local gems and want authentic, no-frills food. Food: 4/5 Should Try! Service: 3/5 Kids: 4/5 Yay! Like most Chinese-American restaurants, they give out fortune cookies. Price: $10-$20 per person Presentation: 1/5 Parking: 1/5 parking at the back of the building is limited, but there is free street parking in the neighbourhood. The parking entrance is on 6th Street. * Prepare to wait - always line up for tables. * Can feel claustrophobia with limited spacing between tables. Would I Return: Yes

Hon to Han... This used to be Hon's wonton now changed to Han Lin noodle House. Besides the name changed I don't noticed any other differences; same staffs, same menu, same people in charge. I remember going to their first location in Chinatown when I was a kid and they eventually popped up in every major city and their frozen potstickers are being sold in a lot of supermarkets. Fast forward to nowadays, quite a lot of the locations are closed down and this iconic location just merely changed its name. Ordered a classic quick bite while passing by; 1. Wonton soup. Very traditional and classic wonton soup, straight to the point nothing fancy just the way a good traditional wonton soup should be. 2. Singapore vermicelli. One of my favourite noodle dish. Nicely done, the vermicelli were nicely wok'ed and fused together with all the ingredients nicely. And it wasn't soggy like a lot of places make them. Great little place for some classic Chinese restaurant food. There really isn't anything fancy about this place, very casual simple layout but it's classic without all the bs. The staffs are always friendly, attentive and nice. And this is very hard to come by especially when most of them are aunties (most aunties I encountered at Chinese restaurants are like stone cold Medusas. But not here, I am sure most of you know what I am talking about). The menu is pretty extensive and the food is decent with a fair price tag especially their all day specials. Always a repeat for me to enjoy some classic style Chinese food.

Hon's has been an icon in Vancouver for as long as I can remember! When I came to visit Vancouver as a student in 1979, I remember taking a bus from Coquitlam to Chinatown to have wonton noodles and that was Hon's!! This location in New West is also an icon itself as it has been in the same spot for many many years! My recent re-visit has been a trip down memory lane! Food and service is typical Hon's .. honest home style cooking and friendly & fast service! Recently, they have changed their business name to Han Lin Noodle House, but I can tell you, once you go inside and sat down, you will still be at Hon's ... from their hot tea to their fortune cookie everything stays the same ( in a good way! )!

We were in uptown New Westminster yesterday for some morning medical appointments. When the latter completed, it was off to 'Han Lin' for lunch, just a few blocks away. We arrived at the restaurant about 11:20am, and were able to find off-the-street parking out back. We (Mom, daughter, and I) were warmly greeted by staff upon entering, escorted to a cozy corner table (room for four), provided with menus, and then tall glasses of hot tea. Time to check out the menus - there were two - lunch/specialties (which included the dim sum offerings), and the larger regular house menu. The restaurant, which opens at 11am - was already half-full of dining customers when we arrived, and before noon, had potential customers waiting inside the doorway for tables to become available. Though a little surprised to see it this busy, especially so all at once, the activity of the staff, and chatter of the diners, was like "music to our ears", and brought back memories of some especially fond restaurants we enjoyed a few years ago. Service throughout our stay was so friendly and cordial. Servers to our table had never seen us before, and we them, but based on the contacts made, it was if we dined there on a regular basis. For us, this provided such a nice feeling to a first time dining experience. Food ordered: - dim sum -- deep fried squid - steamed chicken feet - pan fried rice roll in soy sauce. - lunch specials -- chow mein with beef in black bean sauce w/dry noodles - fried rice noodle with chicken slices & bean sprout. Food presentations and preparations: - though busy, sequencing of dishes from kitchen to table was perfectly fine - dishes arrived piping hot, and looking good. - dim sum dishes were as well-prepared as hoped - squid lightly battered, tender & flavourful - chicken feet 'melt-in-your-mouth' tasty - rice rolls soft & flavourful. - lunch specials - large bowls, filled with nice selections of what looked, and tasted like quality ingredients in each - flavourful & tasty. We were glad to have pre-picked 'Han Lin' as our lunch venue. Its small size, local/friendly ambiance, service, and well-prepared food sure worked for us.

Generously portioned and tasty (April 2023)

For what it is, I think Han Lin (aka formerly known as Hon's) is the best around for price and taste. This is my favorite place for westernized Cantonese Chinese food. When compared to other places, they definitely have the best prices and the taste has basically remained unchanged. It's no wonder the place is always packed, even right when it opens. The food is quick and tasty - we're not talking gourmet, but your basic, comfort Chinese food. I got their Chow Mein with Beef in Black Bean Sauce and it was generous and tasty. However, I have to say the highlight was getting the large, take home container of their famous Potsticker Vinegar. I saw it in the fridge right next to the takeout counter and was psyched. It's my favorite dipping sauce for potstickers and Han Lin is the only place that has it (as it's their signature sauce). One other thing - if you're doing takeout, you just go to the side door by the parking lot and don't need to enter the main entrance. It makes everything quick and easy.

First night in Vancouver BC for a short spring break and I'm craving for Cantonese food. Hubby searched and recommended this place and I said let's give it a try. My recommendation will be to order the sweet and sour pork! Filipinos out there, you'd recognize the taste! I love it! Veggies go for garlic string beans. You'd never go wrong. Pork siomai was good too. we arrived 30mins before closing so I guess everyone is tired but these 3 orders made our night. I was expecting more from the beef Ho fun. Other than that, place is ok, clean and there is parking at the side/street. I'm full!!!

We were the only customers in the restaurant so it was pretty quiet and empty. My friend got the Seafood Fried Rice. He thought it was OK. I got the beef chow ho fun which which is flat stir fried rice noodles with beef. It was also just OK. Both dishes were served with chili oil. I felt they could have added more seasoning to really make the flavors pop out. It's just not as tasty as I hoped it would be. It's a tad better than your random chinese food stalls at the food court. The food overall was not bad, i wasn't super disappointed with anything. It was cooked well at least. Our server was talkative and we felt taken care of. Shout out to Jeralyn for being a great server. 3 out of 5 stars based on this visit for the alright food.

Shang: Noodle House is known for their Reishi mushroom noodle soup but there were so many other things on the menu that we didn't end up trying that out. To start, we decided to get a Radish cake with scallop to share. Grayson has been trying to get me to go for dimsum with him for a while so ordering this was a happy compromise. If you are a dim sum for dinner kind of person, they also offer crystal dumplings, siu mai, and a bunch of deep fried items. The radish cake was soft and slightly crispy on the outside. I like it crispier for textural contrast but I was happy with it regardless. The radish cake had radish flavor and adding a bit of chili oil on top made it all the more delicious.

On the plus side, the location is kept quite clean, cleaner than many restaurants that I regularly frequent, and the portion sizes are reasonable for the price given the location. On the minus side, the food ranges from mediocre to bad with most dishes leaning towards bad. If your friends have dragged you where and absolutely must eat here, I'd recommend the soup dumplings. To be clear, I wouldn't recommend going here for the soup dumplings, which are thick skinned, barely contain any soup, have a tiny meatball, and are served lukewarm. But if you're here, it's one of the better options.
