When all the other driving ranges or clubs in the area are either private or closed or too expensive, this facility is a true local legend! Always open, even in the rain or snow, year round, with heated overhead bays if you need - and real grass practice area, or even dedicated short game options as well, for serious practitioners during the season. None of the fancy clubs in the area can compare despite their pedigrees. Add to that an actually quality restaurant, pickle ball soon for the more recreational experience, and not even to mention the most friendly and supportive team of maintenance and operating personnel including the owner Jodi who is the very model of small business excellence, and no matter your appetite for activity, you can't go wrong here. I rarely leave reviews, or reviews this long, but I could go on for paragraphs about how truly invaluable a hub of passion and performance this place has been for me and innumerable other local very high level (but budgeted) golfers (all of whom, if you happen to be learning or improving, most likely are so friendly or kind that they'll probably give you free lessons while you're practicing if you ask). It's only a matter of time before the first famous PGA or Korn Ferry or just YouTube professional golfers arise from this place, one of the best kept (though maybe not anymore ha) golf secrets of all Central Connecticut, maybe the whole state. PS. I saw some other folks mentioned a few topics to which I noticed the early lights out seem to have been fixed, and now are on motion detectors, so even if you're the only one there, they go on for the section of driving range you're using, and there seem to be totally new balls put into rotation last year - pretty awesome!

I've been to many golf courses, and I can honestly say I've never had an experience like this…read morebefore. The course itself was in terrible condition it was muddy unkept, and overall felt dirty and neglected. On top of that, the atmosphere was extremely unwelcoming. What frustrated me the most was the clear double standard with the dress code. When I arrived, I was told AS A WOMEN! to put on a sweatshirt over my outfit, even though there were multiple men on the course wearing t-shirts with no collars and JEANS! I've never been singled out like that at any other golf course, and it felt unfair and unnecessary. The people playing the course were not nice either. Between the poor course conditions, rude treatment, and inconsistent enforcement of rules, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. There are plenty of other courses that are cleaner, more professional, and respectful to all their guests.

I've never pregamed for golf, but it looked like fun. In any case, you'll park in the lot near the back 9. What's stopping you from starting you game on whatever hole that is? Nothing really, beyond a sign that says go to the golf shop to pay. So, like the nice, law-abiding citizen you are, you will walk across the street to the golf shop to check in. Beyond that, just...go? We still had 9 minutes before our "tee time" but nobody was on 1, and nobody told us to wait...so we just went. We played the front 9, and I found two of those holes to be fairly challenging - in that my ball went in a direction other than intended on one, and plopped itself in the secret lake that's just over the hill on the...7th? Whichever one plays straight back towards the pro shop. If you see an orange Callaway, that'd be me. For a public course I'd say it was pretty well kept. The general geography of the course makes it prone to moisture retention, so you are bound to hit that random soggy spot in the grass that one would only expect after a hard rain. Cheap. Golf. Relatively open schedule and easy to book a tee time not too far in advance. No real frills beyond that, and definitely no expansive 19th hole. But hey, sometimes - the simpler the better. COVID stuff: It's golf, so just mind your distance. I went here a month ago and we walked the course, but I think there was some sort of restriction on cart sharing. The golf shop was closed (operating through a window) a very limited food menu was being served to-go only. I imagine at this point it's loosened up a bit more.

Clearly catering to Groton residents as evidenced by new annual membership restrictions this year. Won't return on a Friday / Saturday / Sunday / Holiday. Appreciate the $50 military rate available Mon-Tue-Wed-Thu, and may visit once or twice at that price point. Lots of other good options in the region, with better layouts at lower costs.

I had a similar experience to Mark K last Friday…read more We had two foursomes and bought a replay. I have heard a lot about the course and wanted to play for some time now. The first round went fine and the course is beautiful and expansive (long rides between green and tee boxes), I don't think anyone would want to walk the course unless you have 6-7 hours. The second round didn't go so well. We were told that we had a threesome in front of us and that we would be able to finish the second 18 no problem. We got on the 2nd hole and that threesome became a sixsome. We called the pro shop and they sent the starter out, it initially cleared up but by hole #7 there were 6 people on the green all playing their shots. We called again and it became a he said she said thing. We were told that there the 2 extras were only watching, but yet 6 people had bags on their carts. To make things worse, our cart died. We had to get pushed to the turn where we switched out our cart. While we were getting our cart switched, I walked into the pro shop to voice my displeasure and asked if they usually let sixsomes out. The reply was "not usually, but sometimes". If I had known that, I wouldn't have driven 1.5 hours and paid $200! Since the people in charge decided to do nothing about the sixsome and we would never finish the second 9, we decided to play the front 9 AGAIN. After 3 holes, our cart died again. There was no answer from the pro shop and we asked the cart girl to send help...that help never came. To top it all off after having my cart pushed for the remaining 6-7 holes, when we finished, we pushed the cart next to my car where I unloaded everything. I was about to leave and someone who was in charge of the carts came and got the cart, he told me "it was a d!ck move to leave the cart there". So I have 1 cart that doesn't work, switch it out for another cart that doesn't work, have to play behind a sixsome and don't get to play the 2nd back 9, and I am the one who is wrong? It's unfortunate because the course is beautiful, but the customer experience is probably the worst I have ever had. It was not worth the drive or the money for me.
