In the early morning we walked outside and saw a huge owl flying around the roof tops after the pigeons - it was magical watching it fly away, down the snowing road and disappear into the dark of the morning.

However, it has a nice western theme to it. The hospitality is great! Front desk was very helpful and friendly. The room itself, a king sized pet friendly room, had perfect and CLEAN floors and was large! There were TWO arm chairs in the room and a comfy bed. Fridge, microwaves... pretty much what you need. The vanity area was pretty small thats why I took a picture but it worked. Shower and toilet room were kinda small as well but they did the trick. I wasn't expecting a spa and it was not, but it was extremely comfortable. They serve breakfast in the morning but I didn't experience it we needed to head out. Check this out if you are in the area. Reasonably priced as well and we did not have a reservation.

We usually stay right in Lava, but after looking up The Harkness, I knew immediately that we had to stay there instead, and I am so glad we did. This is hands down the swankiest hotel I've ever found in a small town. The décor is incredibly classy, the rooms are spotless, and the beds are the most comfortable I've ever slept in, and I've stayed in some pretty high-end hotels. The bedding and pillows were perfect. I usually bring my own pillow because hotel pillows are usually terrible, but I didn't need it here. Everything felt extremely clean and well cared for, and the rooms smell amazing (I don't know what they use, but it works). The bathroom was my absolute favorite--if I were to design my dream bathroom, this would be it. The tub easily fits two people, and the shower has dual rain shower heads. Pure luxury. They also provide complimentary toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion, and not the tiny bottles you get one use out of. They even include bath salts, which was such a nice touch. As others have mentioned, there's a pretty sweet coffee machine in the lobby. Don't skip it if you're a coffee drinker, you won't be disappointed. If you're planning a trip to Lava Hot Springs, stay here. Lava is only about 15 minutes down the highway, and it is 100% worth it. Can't say enough about the food in Kersama Restaurant, so I'll just say everything we had over the course of the two night stay was excellent. Her husband Jesse worked well with her and served as the bartender and waiter, provided great service. Carol, one of the owners, was the perfect hostess. We had one slight glitch, and it was rectified immediately with no question. She was like a personal tour guide, suggesting where to go and what to do. Bear Lake is beautiful, and this is a wonderful place to stay if you are in the area.

On May 27th, I went to Soda Springs Idaho to attend my last granddaughters graduation, Soda…read moresprings is a small community with a population approximately 3,077. I stayed at the cobblestone inn with my wife and our 14 year old toy poodle. The cobblestone inn is a cross between a motel 6 and a motel 8. It was clean and neat, the staff were courteous and polite. Cindy the front desk clerk was the one who booked my reservation, I asked for a veterans discount which I assumed they gave me, They charged me $25 per night for our poodle. When checking in I showed Cindy my booked reservation with LaQuinta in Pocatello approximately 60 miles away, LaQuinta gave me a veterans discount, a king size bed, and a room twice the size of the one at cobblestone, They both offered breakfast for the guest but LaQuinta had a way larger variety and selection. They also did not charge any extra fees for our toy poodle. The charge for my stay at LaQuinta was $129.27 for one Saturday night on a holiday weekend where as Cobblestone charged me $349.44 for two nights. I recommend travelers beware of the cost at cobblestone they seem to sock it to you; its like comparing apples and oranges to sour grapes. This was the only downside to my trip.

Breakfast is standard, but on the high side of standard. Also, when we needed an extra chair for the room, they did their best to find one (and did so). We've been 2-3 times over the last year, and have always had a great experience.
