I used to bowl leagues at Chaparral Lanes many blue moons ago. Fun times! I recently returned to check out what has changed at this bowling alley and visit Apex Bowling Pro Shop for bowling expertise. Plenty of free parking. This place still looks the same as before from the outside to the inside. A bit dated, but still has lots of good space. Bowling game prices are pretty reasonable ranging from $5 - $6 per game depending on the day. Shoe rental prices aren't bad either. I have my own bowling shoes so I don't have to worry about renting them. Staff is friendly and pleasant. They have a house drink and snack bar plus an arcade section. Restrooms are conveniently located near the entrance on the left upon entry. It brought back so many great memories. I would love to return and bowl league here once again. After bowling here several times, it's become apparent that the service is terrible and the lanes keep breaking down. There's usually only one person at the register to handle shoes, lanes, and issues and she not friendly at all. During our 2 game session, the lane had to be reset 3 times and they even shut down our lane. The woman at the front stated that my husband was bowling in sandals which was absolutely ridiculous because he was clearly wearing bowling shoes. I usually love supporting independent businesses, but I'm done with this place. read more

Came here for a work event. I will say the pizza was very good and the bowling alley is very retro 80's. Our group had a fun-time and it was a great space to have an after work team building event. Service was good, everyone from the person working the rental counter to the bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and accommodating. There's also plenty of parking out front and they are located right off the 57 freeway, north of the 10 fwy and south of the 210 fwy. read more

This would be one of several times visiting this place and it never disappoints! This time we came for a soccer party. The venue wasn't super crowded which made for a smooth process of checking in and settling in for some bowling fun. The kids had pizza, punch, and a dessert which was allowed in by the owners. While this venue is a bit on the older side - it was clean, well attended, organized, and easy to navigate. We had a great time while the kids bowled. read more

Love this place! We go bowling every week. Their Friday & Saturday night deal is amazing. They also have specials during the week, but mostly during the day time. The vibes are always great and the employees are awesome! Shoutout to Mendy and Adriana for always having my 6lb ball before I even ask. We used to come here when I was a kid and the nostalgia I felt coming back for the first time in probably about 20 years was sky high. Between the employees and the general feeling of "being a kid again" I will continue to come down every week to support this mom and pop alley. When renting bowling shoes you have to leave one of your own shoes at the counter as a reminder to return the rental shoes. The lady behind the counter ( who I'm sure I related to owner ship) is completely rude and weaponizes her incompetence. She charged us for double what was requested but the kicker is she even confirmed the correct time with me before charging the card. Then when we went to ask for a refund she said she wouldn't refund but give us a IOU for the extra hour. She wrote in the card with a standard bic pen then wouldn't give it to me because the "ink had to dry" and immediately helped another customer while it dried. Came in with a party of two hoping for some fun bowling on the $14.99 special advertised on their website. At no point on the website is there any mention of a minimum party size requirement. We only found out in person when the attendant turned us away. What made it more frustrating was that there were easily 20+ open lanes with about an hour left before closing. There was no reason they couldn't accommodate two people, yet they still wouldn't budge. If you have a minimum party policy, put it on your website. Don't let people drive out only to find out at the counter. We left without bowling and won't be back. read more

This place sucks. Like straight up. The lanes are unkempt. The bumpers don't work and are broken. The pins reset randomly or the pins freeze up or don't reset at all. And then when you go to get the lane fixed at the desk (we went 7 times across 2 hours) the worker says it's "not a mechanical error" but just "happens". 7 times????? This place is a heap of junk. Oh you want a drink? Too bad, the bar opens whenever apparently (got there at 3pm, the worker says "it opens at 4 or 5"). There is no customer service. They only care that they got your money not about your experience. My family will never return and we will tell our friends and family to go literally anywhere else. read more

Glad we gave this place a try. Personally I love this retro bowling alley. She's got soul. We came in on Saturday mid-day with a group of kids and started playing away. Now, because it's an older place the timer starts right away, not when you actually begin bowling... so get your shoes and hustle to your lane because it goes by fast. I mention this because we've been to Bowlero and the timer starts once we start the game. The place was clean and had all the usual amenities. The kids hit up the vending machines many times and we got about 4 game in within 2 hours. All in all it was a great time and I would recommend. Look forward to our next visit. read more

So my family and I went bowling to Chaparral Lanes last night 6/13/2026. Horrible, horrible, horrible!!!!!!!!!! First off the shoelaces on my shoes were broke and not a full length. All the bowling ball were pitted so bad, they looked like someone use them to bowl outside in the street. Then went down to our lanes and we stated to bowl. The lanes we were on kept breaking down and not resetting this went on for four times on the same lane. Mind you each time I had to go to the dest and ask them to reset the lane. Then on both our lanes the balls were not returning. We started with about 8 balls and ended up with 3 at one time. So again I had to go to the desk and ask them to retune our balls. Keep in mind we rented the lanes for ONE HOUR!!! The manager Manda Patel said she would give me 5 extra minutes. I said what !!!! I have had to come up to the desk at least five times to complain about the lane problems. So she said, I can give you ten minutes. WOW!!!! be friggin deal. I did not say that to Manda but I wanted too. After all said and done I expressed that after all that inconvenience that we should have had at least 20 extra minutes. She would not budge!!!! We went there for a relaxing fun time and it was not so fun when you had to keep waiting for all these problems to be taken care of. Remember, we only had an HOUR, but it was more like 35 minutes. REALLY SUCKED!! And I can't believe that some people are giving this place 5 stars. WORST BOWLING ALLEY EVER!!!!!!!!!! It is so run down! I hadn't been bowling in a while. Just because all these other newer bowling joints are too flashy, they cater more to the younger crowds that like the flashing lights. I'm all about the game, so I like a more vintagey feel to the venue. And this was the place, brought my family and we had a great time. They do have a snack bar, I didn't get to see what they had to offer but I know they do have food and they have a bar. read more

Being that this was my first time here I was a bit surprised that they still rented bowling shoes with holes in them. I did not buy any food but my sister ordered onion rings which were pretty good. The service was ok, our lane kept being interrupted with error messages and the front desk attendant appeared bothered by the 5th time we told her about our lane problem. Don't waste your time and money !!! lanes constantly don't work, bumpers don't work ,bowling balls have huge gashes on them . If you come here you might as well have someone stand at the front desk and because you need help because the lane sucks . I came with my daughter to play one game . It was probably the biggest waste of time bad experience overall . Bathrooms are gross , the bar area is pretty bad especially near the pool tables . The windows do not look to be have cleaned in years . Pool tables suck the juke box only has one speaker in the back of the bar area . Food is just deep fried trash and expensive. To anyone that is having a good day go somewhere else this will kill your mood / vibe . I would recommend and personally drive to a better option because at least you'll get your moneys worth . This used to be a great bowling alley about 20 years ago. It has deteriorated so badly, the leagues are almost non-existent.

These are solid lines, they appear to be well taken care of. They do have a leak, so they tend to oil their lanes at least a couple times a week. The beer is a reasonable price and the staff is very friendly. Would definitely recommend this place if you wanted to do a couple of games. If I'm in the area and have a desirable, I will definitely visit this place again. read more

I appreciate the fact that this place really hasn't changed since I last went many years ago. The bowling was pretty reasonable and we were able to easily get a lane on a Thursday night. The bartender definitely didn't like us. She charged a different price everytime which I didn't like. We were ordering the same drinks each time so idk how that was possible. They closed at 10 I believe but didn't pressure us to leave or anything as we sat and finished our drinks until about 10:30. Overall cool spot, would def return. read more

We had a joint birthday party for my husband and son here last night and I'm SO grateful to them for making it the most wonderful experience ever! We had a large group and they took care of us really well. Food was set up when we arrived, all the lanes are charged per lane rather than per person, and I was impressed by how helpful and kind all the staff were! The music is controlled by an electronic jukebox so we got to pick songs we enjoyed and it was the perfect volume level so we could actually hear each other and the music enjoyably. They included bowling pin and sharpie to take home a memento of the occasion. Thank you Chaparral for an AMAZING TIME!!!! I went to Chaparral when Bowlero was trying to nickel and dime me to book the party. Bowlero charges extra per person for adults at a party and we're not willing to customize the package. I don't doubt this place is fun, but be careful when you come on Saturday. If you come at 10pm they do cosmic bowling, which means they play loud music from the DJ and the lights (lasers) are going nonstop. They are shinning in your eyes while you are trying to bowl and you can't see anything. I also asked, several times from the staff and the DJ to turn down the music, but they don't. In fact, I think that they're turning it up. If you do decide to come, don't get lane 40 as it's right in front of the speaker. read more

This is by far the best bowling alley for avid bowlers that I know of. Non-string pins, the lanes were well oiled, and the price per game was cheaper than Bowlero. Last weekend my Mustang club (San Gabriel Valley Mustang Club) had there annual Bowling Night at Chaparral Lanes in San Dimas. We have been coming here for about 15+ years now. The parking lot is big and about four or five handicap parking spaces. Parking lot could use more lighting but it's always clean. As you walk into the bowling alley the sounds of bowling is medium nose level. People are always having a great time there. Just inside the door is a place to shoot some pool and bar area. Large screen tv captures all the sports you can handle. That night was the Dodgers game so it was not to bad on the crowds. At the counter there is always a little lady collecting your one shoe for the bowling shoes rental and she takes your lane fees too. The counter is always busy so your best bet is to make reservations to guarantee your lanes. Birthday, Graduation, Retirement party are always going on. The choice of bowling balls are numerous for your selection. Kids have a bowl helper to help them roll the ball, so make sure to ask on of the friendly attendant. Two places to order food there. The Bar has access to food and the snack bad is at the far East of the alley. Sandwich, Pizza, Fries, Nachos and more all cooked to order. Something for everyone and the cooks are very friendly. I had picked up a large fries and a medium root beer all under $10.00. Very reasonable !! Vendor machine for soft drinks are available as well. A gaming section for the kids is available so they can busy while you bowl. The lanes were just waxed, they don't do that all the time. Tv in the lanes are always on sports of any kind and if there is something you really want to see ask the attendant. Lanes are very active and great action.. They have league play and twilight bowling so make sure you ask before you make the trip. Over all changes I would suggest. 1. More lighting in the parking lot. 2. Bathrooms are ok but could be a bit cleaner. 3. Spectator chairs could be upgraded for more support. So here's how Chaparral Lanes in San Dimas, in my humble opinion, stacks up.
