Last weekend my Mustang club (San Gabriel Valley Mustang Club) had there annual Bowling Night at Chaparral Lanes in San Dimas. We have been coming here for about 15+ years now. The parking lot is big and about four or five handicap parking spaces. Parking lot could use more lighting but it's always clean. As you walk into the bowling alley the sounds of bowling is medium nose level. People are always having a great time there. Just inside the door is a place to shoot some pool and bar area. Large screen tv captures all the sports you can handle. That night was the Dodgers game so it was not to bad on the crowds. At the counter there is always a little lady collecting your one shoe for the bowling shoes rental and she takes your lane fees too. The counter is always busy so your best bet is to make reservations to guarantee your lanes. Birthday, Graduation, Retirement party are always going on. The choice of bowling balls are numerous for your selection. Kids have a bowl helper to help them roll the ball, so make sure to ask on of the friendly attendant. Two places to order food there. The Bar has access to food and the snack bad is at the far East of the alley. Sandwich, Pizza, Fries, Nachos and more all cooked to order. Something for everyone and the cooks are very friendly. I had picked up a large fries and a medium root beer all under $10.00. Very reasonable !! Vendor machine for soft drinks are available as well. A gaming section for the kids is available so they can busy while you bowl. The lanes were just waxed, they don't do that all the time. Tv in the lanes are always on sports of any kind and if there is something you really want to see ask the attendant. Lanes are very active and great action.. They have league play and twilight bowling so make sure you ask before you make the trip. Over all changes I would suggest. 1. More lighting in the parking lot. 2. Bathrooms are ok but could be a bit cleaner. 3. Spectator chairs could be upgraded for more support. So here's how Chaparral Lanes in San Dimas, in my humble opinion, stacks up. Lanes were good once I got to play. Waited nearly 15 minutes while person at front talked to what seemed like a regular. Even though I stood there waiting and made eye contact several times. But once I got bowling it was a decent experience. A little out dated. read more

Had so much fun celebrating my son"s 14th birthday and 8th grade promotion with family and friends! Mandi is the manager at the desk, she was so gracious and kind. She took care of all my guests and made sure we were having a great time. We ordered the birthday package which was perfect. 2 hours of bowling per lane, a large delicious pizza, pitcher of soda, and shoes for your guests. We had 2 tables set up for us to put our desserts and pizza on which was so convenient to have everything right behind us. It was honestly the best place to celebrate! No one wanted to leave! Perfect spot to spend a Tuesday afternoon with my teenage son during summer break. If you don't want tons of noise, bright lights or big crowds, this is a great spot! If you want a place for flashy bowling, this is not for you. We got a lane quickly and had two free lanes on either side of us. No issues with any of our equipment. The bathrooms need some TLC. Friendly staff. Unsure if food service was open because we didn't make an attempt to eat while there. I did notice the bar area was closed but that might've been due to the time of our visit (noon-2). Plenty of parking. Family friendly. read more

This review is for the bar only. I went into the bar on a Saturday night to have a drink alone and the bartender was such an absolute doll. So friendly, so kind, and extremely helpful. They have a full bar within the bowling alley that sometimes has karaoke and DJs as well. There is a large drink menu and lots of beer and craft beer on tap. Only giving four stars due to the draft beers being a little pricey: $8 or $9. The wonderful bartender made me a Baybreeze that was decently strong and delicious. It cost $9, which is fair for a mixed drink. Just wish the draft beers were a little cheaper. That being said, the customer service was amazing. It was very roomy, and she turned up the music for some girls that were hanging out and just having a good time. Good vibes.. The bar closed at 1 PM on a Saturday, which is pretty generously late for a bowling alley! Will definitely be coming back to bowl read more

I've been coming to this place my entire life. The prices have been consistently good and I'm happy to say the two ladies who work there have been there for a long time provide consistent and good service! More recently, I've been going to the pool bar, which is the best place I know to play pool. It's 2 dollars a game, just bring a ton of quarters. The lady at the bar is very kind always. Went for my birthday after dinner at red robbin. Got there a little before 9 with my daughter son-in-law and 6 year old granddaughter. Paid 51.00 for 1 hour. The place is run down dirty no air conditioning and overhead fans not working. Sporadically placed fans on counter tops. Electrical wiring coming out in some areas on walls. They close at 10pm but all other services apparently closed at 9pm. So here we are making the best of it and began bowling. At 950pm an announcement was made although it was illegible. Immediately after the lights at the lanes went out and the lanes turned off. Paid for an hour but received less than 45 minutes of bowling. While changing our shoes we were being stared at in a rather unfriending and disturbing manner. The lights were then all turned off and the entire staff were outside in their cars and gone by 1003pm. I have never seen anything like this. If they are going to close everything down before 10pm they should not have sold us 1 hour of bowling. My granddaughter was actually at the lane ready to bowl when lanes were shut off. Very sad experience. Everyone was rude and when we asked why this was happening an employee actually said not my problem ask the boss. Wow... Happy birthday to me. read more

Our lane didn't work, got another and still didn't work and owner/manager refused to give a refund. Also noticed they had charged a 1.00 fee to use debit card for service/ food. The outside may not have been updated in a while, but the place is still so fun! Everything is clean, the shoes even seemed new! Easy access to many ranges of ball weights. And you can beat the customer service!!! We had a party there and it was a great deal for pizza & bowling & shoe rental per bowler. And kids were going for extra slices, which there were plenty. The food was good! And the bar specials were awesome on a Sunday! Now, dont get me wrong this isn't one of those bougey bowling allies. In my opinion, that is not worth paying the premium with a big group of kids anyway. They have a great set up for tables for a party. There was even another party near us and it was not in our way or feel crowded at all. The arcade is cool and the girls walked out with hundreds and hundreds of tickets. The toy option is the toy options are pretty basic and standard for arcade prizes but the kids didn't care. They didn't soend too much time in the arcade anyway because the bowling and pizza was more fun. Highly recommend for a large group. Great for team parties. read more

Don't go by the yelp hours... they are open till 1:00. Saturdays they have cosmic bowling from 10:00-1:00 am. Lots of the locals, all ages. Also Bar is open, and music is good, gets you in the mood. Brought the family here for a family bowling tournament. However ... even though bowling is always fun, but our lane got stuck about 12 times making it very difficult and frustrating, they gave us extra time but it ruined the game and scores, you figured they would have comp another game... we'll not here ... don't get lame 40 this place needs better maintenance. Bowling is fine here but the bartender lady was incredibly hostile for no reason. I grabbed the first round of beer pitcher for my party and wanted to get 5 EMPTY glasses/cups instead of default 4 cups and the lady absolutely refused saying I need to buy more beer to get 5 to get 5 EMPTY glasses. I explained my colleague was gonna buy the next round, but she absolutely refused. It's not like I'm underage; I'm 32 years old as a reference. Later my colleague got a second pitcher but he only had 2 glasses and we had more ppl come, so I went to get more. She gave me a death glare for asking for a 3rd glass and had to verify another bartender that we weren't give 4 with the second pitcher. Felt like I was treated worse than dirt for asking for a 5th EMPTY glass. I think it gave me such bad taste in my mouth. Was I that wrong to ask for 5 glasses? I'm not sure what her problem is. My friends drank at the bar after bowling ended but I was so disgusted that I didn't want to stay any minute longer. read more

So sad to see this place in its current state. This was the bowling alley of my childhood and sadly it hasn't changed much in the 25+ years since I frequented . It's old and dilapidated. Came here for a fun afternoon for two games of bowling. Had to switch lanes four times; started on lane 14 but moved because the tv wasn't working to show the scores so we moved a lane over to 13 but they had to turn that the tv off because it was connected to the 1st tv. Then on our 3rd different lane (12) the bumpers weren't working. The 4th lane (11) also had half the bumpers broken. By the 5th attempt we were over the "adventure" and asked for a refund, which they moved us to lane 7 &8 and promised no more issues. Everything seems to be working on these two lanes. Just old and rickety the ball return machines are old and the belts aren't working properly so your ball gets stuck half out the hole. Their customer service is a 10/10. They really are the sweetest people but that facility itself is 2/10 read more

I've always loved to come here for bowling. It's easy to just check in and pay for either a couple hours or a couple games depending on the group I'm with. This place definitely needs some updating with the machines since they get stuck or the bumpers don't work (even when we don't use them they pop up sometimes). It's cool here everyone just bowls and is in their own section. They now have glasses between lanes so it's more private which is nice unless you make friends with the lane next to you The food is surprisingly decent for a bowling alley. However I added a picture of the Hawaiian pizza we ordered and I'm not sure if they got the order wrong or this is their version of Hawaiian pizza, but it was not what we expected and we all definitely had to pick out a lot of it. Either way this place is cool and fun. Needs updating like I said but it's nothing that would ruin your night necessarily. They also have the arcade and vending machines too. read more

Really like this bowling alley. They are open pretty late compared to other lanes. The place is big has over 40 lanes. Its a little bit of an old school feel, but its well kept and the scoring computer is still pretty updated. The bar is huge and has a lot of options. Pricing here is on the cheaper end. My family and I go here often because it's the closest bowling alley to us but the convenience of it being so close isn't worth it anymore. Every time we go the lanes we pay for either freeze and take 10+ minutes for the pins to be reorganized or our game just resets completely on its own which ruins our scores. When we go to the lady at the counter to fix it she seems annoyed every time, but if you don't want your customers to keep bothering you, maybe take the time to fix your equipment. Not to mention the arcade is way overpriced, half the games are broken , and after spending all that money to get tickets to win a prize you're stuck picking from a selection of 99 cent store toys from over a decade ago, that I could tell nobody wants because they've been up there for years. I'm not sure if this lady is the owner, but she is very rude as well. The most recent time we went it was for Father's Day and my father had called ahead and nicely asked if he could reserve a very light bowling ball for my mom because she has arthritis and she can't lift too much weight without being in pain, and the lady who was usually at the register answered by screaming "NO THANK YOU!" And hung up abruptly when asked a simple question. My father was so upset after getting rudely yelled at on Father's Day That he almost canceled the whole trip there, but he decided not to because he didn't want ruin the plans for the whole family. If you're looking for a bowling alley to enjoy with your family, just know that you could do better than this place. Will not be coming here ever again! read more

I've been here with our family a total of 4 times but I will never be back. The woman in the front whom I believe is the owner is extremely rude and confrontational like I've never experienced before, she made a statement which I questioned because I didn't understand her and she scolded me like a child when I asked for clarification. Today we came to celebrate our nephews bday and one of the servers came to take away a beverage we had bought at the bar, alleging that we brought the drink from the outside. We had to get the bartender to verify that we had in fact bought the drink there.
