My first time at Action Lanes within Midway Plaza in El Monte was through a Yelp event. Glad I was given the opportunity to enjoy bowling. Thanks Yelp! I came back on a separate day to offer my patronage and support. Parking is plentiful. Interior has an old school look and feel to it. Quite nostalgic! Very clean and organized, but not super bright. Most house bowling balls were old, dirty, and chipped. I don't use a house ball since I have my own personal bowling ball. They may want to invest in some new balls... just saying. Their bowling games were $9.50 per game that Saturday night. I ended up not bowling. I would love to return to take advantage of their Early Bird Special at $4.75 per game which is a great deal from 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM on the weekend. League rate is $5.00 per game which is a steal, too (please note league must be hosted by Action Lanes to qualify). Bowling shoes are $5.00 per pair which isn't bad, but I have my own shoes so I don't need them. Please check out their other rates and promos online. When I was here, I had a wonderful conversation with Caleb. He was working behind the counter. Super friendly and nice young man. He gave me the scoop on which nights have leagues and when it was best to come here for best deals. Thanks Caleb! I didn't want to leave without supporting them. There's a boba shop inside the bowling alley, but they were closed at the time. I ended up buying one A&W Rootbeer from the vending machine. It wasn't a lot, but it was something. Action Lanes is a great place to bowl with friends and family! The staff is friendly and will answer any questions you have. They have different set prices all days of the week so be sure to cadvantage of those if you're an avid bowler or want to come here with a group. The food here is actually decent. My husband and I ordered the popcorn chicken to share. As you can see from the photos, the attention to detail was there. From the golden brown color and seasoning on every piece. This was a perfect snack after an hour of bowling. I would order this again! Parking is shared with the other businesses in the plaza. It is large so you won't have to worry about not finding a spot. The business wasn't as busy when we came here during the week. There were a few lanes still open when we arrived. Overall, I recommend this spot. We came here for a night of bowling on a Saturday night. This was a 2nd visit for us after attending a Yelp Event here a few weeks ago. It was a chill and fun time for us this particular Saturday. We opted for two games and rentals for shoes only $5. Total for the both of us came out to just under $50. We came in during the cosmic bowling time so it was a nice vibe. The alley was barely 50% occupied at the time so no complaints for us. We were able to bowl comfortably and practice some more on our minimal bowling skills. Lol. First time coming here and let's start out with: what's up with the neg reviews. This bowling place is next to Korean bar and there's an In N Out that's literally across the street. What more you can ask for? Oh wait! There's no outside food nor drinks allowed Inside is simple: there's a bar, lanes and vending machines that offers variety of food and drinks. Bar looks pretty empty during closing time (2 hours before closing). Price is pretty simple. The 2 male cashiers was helpful on explaining first timers and how it works and gave recommendations. Here's how this works: you can pay by game or hour. The per game price is per person btw. The difference is that if you want to take your time and have fun, you choose per game. However, if you choose per hour, you must rush to play at least 3-4 games to break even on per game price. Initially wanted to play 5 games but was recommend to play 3 to be on a safe side. So that's a plus. Doesn't include rental shoes ($5 optional for rental shoes) For shoe rental, you must give up one shoe in order to get your rental shoes. Each lane has upto 4 chairs. Background music is not too loud but it can be loud depending on types of bowlers that came here. Overall, highly recommend on giving this place a chance read more

I visited the Action Lanes Bowling Center in El Monte last month! I had not gone bowling in quite some time. I am definitely going back because the staff are really nice. They ensure that the shoes are sprayed with Lysol after every use. The shoes aren't the prettiest (condition wise) but they get the job done. The group that was right beside us ended up cheering on my bf and I so that made things a bit more fun since we were a small group. I didn't feel intimidated or anything. The prices are reasonable. Came on a Sunday for the early bird special: $4.50 a game/pp. Shoe rental is $5. We loved it and had a great time. Staff are super nice. Been a minute since I've been bowling and dang prices have gone up! Payed for 2 games and shoes for 2 people on a weekday and it was a whopping $38. This action lanes has been here for decades and it still looks the same as it did years ago. It's pretty run down and dirty but it does run on the cheaper side for bowling nowadays. The lanes itself are fine and really no complaints on the experience. There was a surprising amount of people here on a Tuesday at 6 pm but there were lanes available. They are really nice bowling lanes. I like going for the early bird deals on saturday and friday where you can play a game for about 4.75 per game. The only downside to this place is that games are really expensive if its not early bird deal. Lots of bowling alleys in the OC area are only about $6 a game if you have shoes at regular times. This is my favorite bowling alley. I've been coming here for years without a problem. The staff is always polite, and the building is always clean. The food is surprisingly satisfying as well. I purchased my own bowling ball at the store here a couple months ago, but I used to use the balls in the alley for a long time. They were always organized well and felt properly cared for. The experience of getting my own bowling ball was really easy and informative. The man working there had me try out different weights and determined which bowling ball core would be best for my throwing style. After measuring my fingers and hand, he got straight to work on drilling the ball and I was able to take it home within the hour. There's a lot of parking in the front and back of the building. I usually take advantage of their special deal on weekdays where you can get 3 games for $17 not including shoes. There's a big, plastic wall placed every 2 lanes to separate each seating area, which I really haven't seen anywhere else. I know for a fact that the staff wax the lanes every few hours because I've gone at different times in the day and have seen them using their special machine. The food bar makes some pretty good food. Sometimes I forget it's there, but each time that I've gone there has been tasty enough. I wouldn't say they're good enough for their own restaurant or anything, but they're perfect for a quick bite while you're playing your game. The portion sizes are pretty sizable. They call out your name through the intercom in the alley too, so you can place an order and return to your lane without having to stand around the bar to get your snacks. It does get crowded here on weekends and at night, so make sure you come early for the best experience! read more

The bowling alley had lots of free parking, and everyone had a great time. They brought over the metal ramps for the kids and set up bumpers on some of the lanes.
