After reading Laura's review, our wedding was pretty much the exact same!! We didn't have a wedding party so we didn't have issues with flowers. We paid for 3 hrs for a photograph and he showed up super late, bc he said he didn't know what time he was supposed to be there. At our wedding dinner the photographer made up the time and took us away from our guests to make up the missed time. That didn't really matter because we never got our pics. Everyone in attendance was supposed to get a non-copyrighted cd with all the pics. That didn't happen. I emailed him about the pics after a month and a half and he said I should have gotten them and he'd have someone re-email me. Never happened. My mom paid for the services and actually contacted her credit card company I dispute the charges, which they then rewarded her all of her money back. My husband and I went down there this past week and were asking about the photographer. We were willing to pay him for the photographs bc we were pretty sure that he was never paid for his services. When asking around and telling locals what happened, they all had stories for us. I guess now he hasn't been seen for awhile around the area. I can't believe the website is still up since he isn't around and doesn't pay the people he contracts with. We got his name from friends of my mom who went through him (they live in Key West) and they feel horrible for what he's done. read more

Got scammed! Do NOT use this guy, Rev. Ronney Scott or his company! I booked our wedding ceremony, photos & video through him & haven't heard from him since I paid. I tried for over a month diligently to reach him by every means possible and never got a response. I still haven't ever heard from him. I ended up working w/ my credit card company to get my money back, thankfully, but it was time consuming and we're still not sure what his deal is..... He should not be in business w/ such poor business practices! Especially when it comes to WEDDINGS! The fact that the company is also known as "Stress Free Weddings" is completely ridiculous! I now see that I'm not the only person he has done this to. I hope he doesn't do it to anymore people because I hope no one EVER books with him again. If I could give him ZERO stars, I would. Totally bummed out by this guy & his company but ended up finding great people to work with in Key West. read more

Our wedding was a destination wedding planned via the internet. The Chapel by the Sea website was very appealing, and after emailing with Ron, we booked our package and date. Fast forward to the months and weeks before the wedding and communication was extremely lacking with Ron. We had one phone call about 2 months before the wedding where we confirmed all the details, and I paid the balance. After that, despite my attempts, I did not speak to Ron again until 8pm the night BEFORE my wedding. I was freaking out (to say the least) that things were not confirmed. All I wanted was him to call and tell me that everything was ready and would be as I expected. What I found out was that even though that harpist said she would learn songs, she didn't learn our songs. I'm glad I paid $350 to have to pick wedding songs from her list less than 24 hours before my wedding. The day of the wedding, the trolley came on time and we were off to the ceremony. We arrived to find that there were no flowers. I had paid for flowers for the wedding party and moms/dads/grandfathers, but Ron said his flower lady didn't make them so he had someone go buy some on the fly. Our ceremony started 15 minutes late, and my bridal party carried roses, on the stem, down the aisle. My bouquet was beautiful, but we had to hurry the ceremony in order to keep with the rest of the timeline. There was also no Skype service provided, which Ron said would be included. We have family waiting for this, and it never happened and by the time the flowers were ready there was no time to ask and risk another delay. There was no water, as the contract stated either. Luckily my grandfather married us, so the ceremony went as planned. The videographer stood 2 feet away from us at the ceremony, which ruins all of our beach pictures even though he was told not to stand so close. Ron seems to stand by the "don't worry about" motto, and it just wasn't what I expected. It's also been several days since I asked about our flower refund, and we still have no response. If you want piece of mind, find another vendor to plan your wedding. Edit 5/31/12: Ron said that we would be refuned for the portions of our ceremony that we paid for but did not happen. We waited over a month for this refund, then when we got it, the check bounced. We were charged the fee, and we have still not received our refund 2 1/2 months later. Final edit 11/2012: Even after filing with the BBB, we never received our refund. Thought about suing, but it would have cost more than he owed us. Moral of the story, use this man if you don't mind not getting what you paid for and never seeing the money again. read more

Our wedding was also a destination wedding planned over the internet. We picked a simple package on 'The Chapel by the Sea' website, booked the date and had a few emails back and forth with Ron. He was very lacked when it came to working out our details; he placated a lot. Our package was to include: my bouquet, a boutonniere for my husband, a champagne toast after the ceremony with complimentary glasses, our wedding photos on a CD, as well as an online wedding album. On the day of our wedding, we did receive my bouquet which turned out very pretty, and his boutonniere. The ceremony was on time and went fine; as far as the champagne toast, Ron pulled out a can of 7-up, popping the top and saying 'no alcohol is allowed on this beach' and poured it into plastic champagne-style glasses saying 'we ran out of the complimentary glass ones, but we will mail them to you.' Okay, a little cheesy but we just went with the flow and tried to enjoy the rest of our time. Our photographer was decent, although I did give him most of the ideas for our pictures. We picked up our CD a few days later and expected our glasses soon after our return home. 3 months later, we still hadn't received our glasses. I emailed Ron and it went unanswered. After another 3 months went by, I emailed Ron again. This time he responded with: 'For some unknown reason, they are sitting in my 'waiting to be picked up box' I'm going to the post off this afternoon. Sorry for the delay.' Irritated, I thanked him and expected them to show up relatively quick. ANOTHER month goes by! I emailed AGAIN... We finally received our keepsake glasses 7 months after our wedding! And never received access to an online wedding album to share with family and friends! There are sooo many other vendors to choose from in Key West. Don't pick this one. read more

When you first see this website, it promises Stress Free Weddings. That is the first lie you encounter. I wanted a destination wedding and Chapel of the Sea offered everything I wanted: all inclusive. Paying up front seemed fishy, but I understood that they had to pay their people first. It's how catering is done. After my credit card is charged, we lose contact. Finally after stressing that I've been duped and go to cancel my credit card payment, the esteemed Ronney Scott, owner and the one to marry us, let's me know that since the wedding date is far off, he'll contact me closer to the day. Ok, I'm pacified. Fast forward to 2 weeks before the day: still no contact from Scott. Then when I'm at my wits end, crying and stressed out, he emails me a schedule and wants me to meet with him when we get into town to discuss details. We meet. He's VERY laid back. But it's Key West, right? The day is here! Photographer and videographer are taking pictures and video. No flowers? The photographer runs (literally), back to the office to pick up the half-dead flowers. My maid of honor gets a frantic call from a guest that no one is at the beach and nothing is set up! We are on our way on the trolley, which is NOT air conditioned and have to wait 15 minutes while my guests have to set up their own chairs and have to view our "reverend" Scott ADJUST his PRIVATES in front of them! We get married and are at our reception, where we have to do cake cutting pictures first so the photographer and videographer can keep "their" schedule. Scott is given the license and a tip(big mistake). He says it takes 30 days for the marriage license to be processed and we should get our pictures in two weeks and the video later. He confirms all this again, when we get home 3 days later. From then on, he and his company stop all contact with us and after threats we are able to receive our pictures and license. The video is still MIA. We plan on suing Scott and his company. If anyone has dealt with this man before and was lucky enough to get their video, please contact me and let me know who to talk to to get mine. I'm heartbroken that my son, who was deployed before my wedding, and wasn't able to give me away, will never be able to view his mom getting married, because of this heartless scammer! read more

My Husband and I used there services to get married on Sept 7th, 2012. We were paid in full months before our arrival. The package included the photographer and the pics. We have yet to receive anything. I have tried to contact him everyday. I have sent him certified letters to both of there addresses just to have them returned. I really do not have any pictures of my wedding. They ripped us off of our pictures that we were paid in full for. So watch out , reverend Ron is a rip off!!!! read more

Reverend Ronney was great. I would and will recommend his services to any friends/family who are looking to have a destination wedding. He worked around our schedule, as we were only in Key West for a short time while stopping in on a cruise ship. Ron answered all our questions a couple months in advance, and then contacted us again to confirm meeting place and time about a month before the wedding. The ceremony we received was exactly as described on the website and exactly what we had expected. It was obvious that Ron knew what he was doing and has a lot of experience. I can't wait to get our dvd with the photos he took on it because I'm sure he got some great ones! read more

We used Chapel By The Sea and Rev Ron for our wedding on May 10, 2012 and were completely happy with his services. All we had to do was have our Marriage License and show up on the dock to board the boat and Rev Ron took care of everything else. Our wedding was held on a public sunset sail aboard The Jolly II Rover, a beautiful 80' Schooner. We requested this boat because we had sailed on it before. Rev Ron provided everything he promised! Our wedding was like a fairytale. If you are looking to be involved in every way, then Chapel By The Sea isn't for you. If you want a stress free wedding and let someone else take care of the details and show up and enjoy your ceremony, then Chapel By The Sea is FABULOUS! My bouquet was absolutely exquisite! I didn't see it until we got on the boat and I was NOT disappointed. Our pictures were posted the following day on a site that friends and family could view or purchase them and a CD with our pictures arrived in the mail a week later. Our refreshments and champagne was chilled and waiting on the boat when we got there. Jamie and I were very pleased with the whole experience. I would recommend Chapel By The Sea to any of my friends or family. read more
