Dan-Rich has a lot of inventory packed in the showroom with a nice variety of price points. Doesn't feel all "chainy" and corporate like a lot of furniture places do. Before leaving, I called at 9:00 a.m. to let the store know I was on my way to pick up my order. When I arrived around 10:40 a.m., the experience immediately went downhill. I stood at the customer service desk while three employees were present, yet no one acknowledged me or asked if I needed assistance. Everyone appeared frustrated and completely uninterested in helping customers. After waiting, I finally got someone to assist me. Unfortunately, it only got worse. By the time my order was being loaded around 11:15 a.m., the two employees handling the pickup were rude, short, and abrasive. There was no greeting, no communication, and no appreciation for the fact that I was picking up a significant order. I work in Greenville and rarely shop the Columbia location, and this experience reminded me why. The difference in customer service between the two stores is night and day. Greenville has consistently been professional, friendly, and helpful. Columbia, on the other hand, made what should have been a simple pickup stressful and frustrating. When customers spend thousands of dollars and plan their day around picking up materials, they deserve to be treated with courtesy and respect. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend the Columbia location. If you have the option, I would strongly suggest driving to the Greenville store instead.

I was the only customer today, no other cars in the lot ... the salesperson was rude and dismissive. He took no interest in what I needed. I can tell you that in my 42 years in Columbia, I don't remember ever being treated so poorly. Again, very rude and dismissive. In response to your response, Peter. Not surprising that your staff found me to be the problem, given that they rely on you for their livelihoods. Yes, I was having a bit of difficulty explaining to you what I needed for our home, and you chose not to help me sort it out.  You had a choice to be kind and helpful ... or rude and demeaning.  My sarcastic remark reflected my frustration with your lack of helpfulness.  That is the only reason we are having this conversation.  I came to Bistany's because I had been treated nicely eight years ago ... and loved the stair runners and foyer rugs that we bought. Going forward, let me recommend that you treat your customers kindly, even if they are old(er).  Or especially if they are older and not as clear and articulate as they once were.  You might be lucky and get old(er) too.
