Okay this was so yummy! I loved this place front the clean/cool restaurant front with picnic tables and televisions. The menu seemed simple enough but it's actually pretty creative. We settled on the hot open faced turkey and the guy themed sandwich. The hot turkey was excellent; moist and tasty! The sandwich was ok loved the corned beef. I was in town for business about 2 weeks while in town I made it here 3 times! Food is great all the staff were friendly, and I really looked forward to returning each time. I never had the same thing twice and enjoyed everything I tried except the Cheese Fries. The fries weren't bad just not great. Pit beef sandwich, open face beef and open face turkey all reallt good. I think the open face turkey was my favorite. So its just a short drive down from the Aberdeen Proving Grounds where I was working, and honestly there didn't seem to be a lot of options in the area. I would really enjoy the opportunity to return again. Maybe I will make it to one of the other locations. If you have the chance this is the place to eat while in Aberdeen! read more

Waited four years to get pit beef. Finally drove through Baltimore and got Chaps. First impression of the pit beef was average. I ate it and said, "this was not worth the wait." 10 minutes later, I wanted another sandwich. The after taste of the bark and horseradish makes the sandwich great. 5/7 would eat it again. read more

This was one of the worst meals I've had in a long time. I purchased a lb of ribs. They were the fattest big ribs I've eaten. There were only three of them. I could not eat them all. They were horrible. I also purchased green beans. Basically they opened the can, threw them in the pot and poured something over them. They were horrible. I was craving a pit beef sandwich and Chaps never disappoints. I got it medium rare and it was perfect. Topped with thinly sliced onions and horsey sauce, you can't ask for a better sandwich. Be warned, the burgers are HUGE. Like at least 8 Oz. My daughter couldn't even eat half of it. It was delicious though and they cooked it medium rare just like she asked them. They used potato buns, the gravy fries were good, and they had Pepsi products but there's not much more nice things I could say. Overall the pit beef was bland and came slices like it was pulled pork. The ribs were also greasy and lacking in flavor. The food here is delicious, especially the pit beef. I always buy two orders of the pit beef rare, covered in gravy. Honestly, the meat here is better than some fancy steakhouses I've eaten at! Eh..was excited but wasn't very good, asked for medium rare but looks like its all pretty well done..the rachel is more money than other sammies but has less meat? Why? Stopped for takeout for an overnight stop on our trip. My first taste of Pit Beef. Excellent.

Just wasn't crazy about this place. Had ribs that weren't fall off the bone. Fries were cooked too long and a bit soggy. The sauce wasn't exceptional. A Rubin sandwich that had no Swiss cheese and corned beef that was sliced too thin and seemed like processed lunch meat. We are in Baltimore occasionally and won't stop again. What's not to like about this place The help stays long term the cooks I have seen the same over the year I've been going. The meat is always wonderfully fresh finished any way you like it. Listen, this comment isn't about the food it's about the staff -- Husband and I decided on Chaps last night for dinner. I was ready and wasn't going to settle for anything else ! Lol While Walking in at first we were slightly confused and you can tell something happened - on a mid rush hour Friday night during dinner hours. You can tell staff was literally figuring it out on a fly ! While patiently waiting in line we have come to realized that their systems unexpectedly crashed no electronic system no monitors no registers no credit cards none of it ! and as inconvenient it obviously was on behalf of the staff- I tell you what- I have never been so impressed and at ease with the unity that the staff had !! not only did they keep up with the wait with customers being hungry and confused - hand writing orders and verbally communicating all our preferences and how we want our food to be- they worked together! You saw partnership you come thinking outside the box you saw customer service ! You saw a staff literally figuring it out while still trying to be patient with inpatient customers. Husband and I waited about 15-20mins for our food- and we ate outside- while things were slightly chaotic you saw staff still cleaning up the dining area and made an effort to take care of it all. Obviously FOOD was delicious! And now serving beer has literally sealed the deal for me. Lol I want people to know that working with customers in a service providing industry we have all dealt with a few Karen's and Karl's -- and it can be overwhelming but frustrating at times - I admired that the staff decided to worked together and chose to not let the overwhelming moment break partnership and team work ! Chaps Pit Beef is absolutely delicious. The meat is cooked to perfection, tender, juicy, and so flavorful! This location is about 15 minutes from Aberdeen Proving Ground and is situated in a little shopping center near some other small food chains, but if you are in the area you should definitely visit Chaps. I ordered the classic pit beef sandwich with sides of coleslaw and Mac & cheese. I ordered small sides, but you can also order them in the large size (which I would recommend if you have an appetite, the small portion lives up to its name). I also tried their Chaps sauce on my sandwich, which has a great Smokey barbecue flavor to it. They have plenty of sauces to choose from though, so your options are not limited. As far as ambiance, this place is equatable to a Five Guys. Nicer than your typical fast food joint, but not as nice as a sit down restaurant. There are picnic tables inside and outside. read more
