My husband asked for the game to be changed to a more relevant game with Tampa bay three times. Never changed. Took forever for drinks though no one was there virtually as lunch rush was over. I love CharBar! It's an easy go-to spot that you can always find something you like on the menu and be happy with it. The food in my opinion is consistently good , which makes me always wanna go back! My daughter recommended CharBar and we went there a few times. Ambience and decor are decidely relaxed and casual even welcoming. The staff seem to be genuinely friendly and helpful. Kudos to whoever hired and trained them. Far too many restaurants hire folks that seem surly, indifferent if not resentful to be there. The foods are not inexpensive BUT certainly worth the price. First meal I enjoyed was fish and chips and it was very tasty. Last night I had a mouthwatering well made, if a bit pink in the middle, medium-well done cheeseburger and fries. Excellent chargrilled meat, if a bit pink inside, and the fries were also excellent. As to the bar, I don't drink, but my daughter mostly enjoyed them. Her vodka martini was seemingly just vodka. Yes there were 2 olives but she felt it was not right. I took a small sip and agreed. I'm not an expert on martinis but it seemed to be just vodka. So if you like just vodka it's a great place to get that. Overall, Charbar gets 5 stars from me. If I were to complain about anything it would be the LOUDNESS of the guitar being played inside. A bit quieter playing or less amplification and it would have been very nice indeed. This place was recommended by my boyfriend? He had been to the location in NC. I don't usually get burgers but decided to try one, which was really good! My favorite part was the drinks. After visiting this location three times I will say.. Just eat somewhere else. The food is not consistent in my opinion. Each time I went everything tasted completely different. The fried pickles are just OK - Nothing to write home about, super greasy and the breading just falls off. On two of the occasions I sat inside and there were quite a few gnats and flies flying around so it makes for a really uncomfortable dining experience. The service is good, but when you think about the cost of the food, the portions you receive and the taste of the food it isn't worth it. :( read more

Delicious food. Maybe the best fried pickles I've ever had. My side salad was delicious and both my husband and myself loved our meals. We came at 5:00 PM and no one came up to serve us for 30 minutes, so we had to go grab someone ourselves. We ordered drinks and food and our drinks sat at the bar for 20 minutes before I had to go up to the bar and get it myself. All the workers were standing around talking and on their phones while multiple tables were waiting to be served. 2 tables around us got up and left after 20 minutes of no one coming up to them. Decided to visit for the first time here on Labor Day after the other place close by we wanted to go to was closed. Started out great with the buffalo chicken dip and thought it was amazing and even could have had 2 orders of it. However after this it started to go downhill. We started to notice that it had been a long time and we hadn't received our food yet. For only being 2 of us and one person getting the wedge salad and me getting a burger it felt like it was taking longer than it should have. Unfortunately for me the burger was mediocre. Ate lunch here today with a buddy. I had a great tasting burger with tots and he had chicken fingers. Great food, atmosphere, and the service was really friendly. The lunch prices are a little cheaper than the dinner prices so I was pleased to be getting a little discount! My buddy said he thinks this place does some of the best chicken fingers in Bham and my burger was really good. He got extra honey mustard for his dipping pleasure and I got some honey mustard for dipping my tots. The server was really nice and on top of things but, more than that, getting a quick visit from the manager was great and the hostess was really nice too. Roaches (plural) ran across bar. Poor service. Long wait for cold wings. Should not of been with so few people. Only three people at the bar. I had to asked several times for a refill on drink. Had what we thought was going to be a bad experience turn into a great one! We were seated soon enough but 15 minutes went by before the manager came by to check on us. Upon telling him we'd not been greeted, he immediately took a drink and app order. We then realized we'd walked in during a shift change. One friend ordered a burger, the other ordered the Alfredo, and my third friend and I got the shrimp tacos. We all enjoyed our choices but I will say I did get a bit of an upset stomach later on that night along with the friend that ordered the same thing as me so something didn't sit quite right for both of us. It started with excited anticipation but it ended with a strong need to "just leave." Our trip to CharBar7 was a meal we had looked forward to based on a recommendation from friends and strong Yelp reviews. The forty minute wait to get in did not diminish our mood, it meant the place was good, right? Later, I decided that delay was the best part of the meal. The place is too damn loud. Fourteen TV's viewable from my seat is just too many. Service was friendly with Taylor, she gave strong recommendations based on our interests. But: 1. The margeritta was too weak, especially for a CharBAR. 2. The celebrated hand breaded pickles were too few in number, strange looking, and not good. 3. The Fish and Chips was very disappointing, greasy, and was small in portion size. Especially for $15.99 4. The salad was appealing to look at but the dressing was overpowering in both taste and amount. "Cloying" was the word that came to mind. The chicken was bland and boring; it may have been boiled. The crowd was varied in age, which was nice and our server, Taylor, was friendly and helpful. Margaritas were decent, but weak, fried pickles had a poor pickle to breading ratio, and the fish and chips were bland and pricey for the two small pieces of cod. My husband and I shared the Brussel sprout salad, which was so heavily dressed that every bite tasted soggily the same. And we waited 45 minutes for a table.
