Absolutely blown away! I was taken here for a work outing and, honestly, as someone who's pretty simple with food and doesn't eat fancy food often, I didn't have high expectations when I looked at the menu beforehand. I was horribly mistaken. Everything I tried was absolutely incredible. For appetizers, I tried the BBQ miso chicken, seeded yeast rolls, and burrata. The BBQ miso chicken was tender thigh meat served on a skewer and topped with peanuts (so definitely something to be aware of if you have an allergy). It also came with a few spicy pickles that were delicious. The seeded yeast rolls were perfectly baked; light, airy, and served with cane syrup whipped butter. That butter was out of this world phenomenal. I could have eaten it by itself! For dinner, I had the sweet corn ravioli. It came in a large bowl with A LOT of rich, creamy sauce. There was so much sauce that I actually asked for a spoon and basically ate it like soup. Not a complaint whatsoever because it was absolutely delicious. The only letdown for me was dessert. I was really looking forward to an authentic Southern banana pudding, but there was an unexpected peanut flavor, not what I was expecting at all. I was hoping for more of that classic banana-and-vanilla flavor. The ambiance was also really cool-dark, moody, and almost gave me an Alice in Wonderland kind of feel. Our server was 10/10, and the manager stopped by several times to check on us. They were also incredibly accommodating to a coworker with food allergies, which I really appreciated. Everything about this visit was top tier. A birthday lunch with my girlfriend was the occasion on a Thursday afternoon. The decor is swanky and it makes you feel like you've feel like you're walking through an art museum. It's definitely instagram worthy backdrop. Especially if you go outside. It was July in Alabama so we opted for indoor window seating in the bar area to enjoy the views. There were only two other parties in the restaurant, so we literally had the place to ourselves. The bartender was our server and he was excellent. We attempted to order the oysters (6) as an appetizer, but they were out. We ordered the Pickled Shrimp and Bbq Miso chicken instead. Both were delicious. The shrimp was fresh and cold. The chicken was unique as it had peanuts with the sauce. I had the crispy flounder sandwich with fries and my friend ordered the Panzanella salad with shrimp. The fish was hot and crispy and well seasoned. The fries were delicious, too...thick but not steak cut. I wasn't supposed tot have them, but hey it was Friday eve...that was close enough to the weekend! Expensive. Great drinks but very expensive. Appetizers were good. Entree was ok and service was slow, not because the waitress wasn't attentive but because they were understaffed. They required reservations so they should have done a better job of planning. One thing that bothered me is that our reservation was at 5 and online it states happy hour is 4 to 6. When we were seated we were not provided a happy hour menu and the waitress didn't even know about it until we told her it was listed online. Drinks were more than double on the regular menu. I will say their house wine, Kessler is good especially for $7 a glass. Spritzers are great! Brussel sprouts, rolls and yellow beets were great apps. I was disappointed in my Low Country Boil especially for $33. The shrimp had heads on and the Conecuh Sausage was only at the bottom so at first I thought it was missing. The only thing great about it was the seasoning on the corn. My friends said the trout was good as well as the banana pudding. The rooftop is amazing so I will say you must be paying for atmosphere. Kara was awesome, there was an issue with the egg on the burger not being fried, and she took care of it with no issues. She explained the "full brunch experience" option in great detail. I was there yesterday for birthday celebration with friends, I ordered Reuben with French fries, the sandwich looks good but the taste is not so, this is my opinion, kimchi is not really good on that sandwich, it would probably good with just mayonnaise and tomato on it. Server is okay, we are the only people there just don't understand with this beautiful place but no customer in sight. I loved how upon arrival we didn't have to hunt for parking, valet is complimentary when dining at the restaurant. You take the elevator up to the third floor where the restaurant is located. The decor is exceptional the art work is so different and whimsical it makes me think of Alice and Wonderland. You're able to see the cooking school when walking to the dining area something I think I will look into for the future. The host was great and he was very attentive even after we had been seated for a while he came back to add lights to our table since we were seated outside and the sun had gone down, something I greatly appreciated because we were struggling to read the menus in the dark. Our server KeeKee (might be misspelled) was very nice she did seem a bit overwhelmed as she mentioned she had a VERY large party that didn't seem mindful that she might have other tables. With that being taken into account she still did a good job overall and was very personable. What we ordered: Drinks Classic Old Fashioned ($20): not overly alcohol forward and had a good overall flavor profile. 8.5/10 I had a diet coke, somewhat flat but it could have just been my taste buds that night. Starters Yeast Rolls ($10): There was a little bit of a wait on them, but the hostess explained that at the time of ordering they were currently out. We didn't mind because the bread was so fresh and melted the whipped can syrup butter so easily. The bread nearly melted in your mouth as well and getting it so fresh was truly a treat. 10/10 Little Gem ($16): The salad was good I had eaten most of it before I noticed the conecuh bacon, my favorite part of it had to be the fresh fried onions that topped it. It was a good salad but nothing about it stood out more than any other salad but it was still very good and large enough to share 8/10 Chicken Fried Bacon ($12): We weren't exactly sure what to expect when ordering, but what we received was bacon that was literally deep fried in batter like chicken would be. We were definitely shocked! It was served with Wickles pickles, hot honey and pimento cheese. I enjoyed it most with the hot honey drizzled on top it really set the flavors off. 9/10 Entrees Blackend Grouper ($42): The grouper had great flavor I would have loved to have more of the grits to go with it. The size of the grouper was perfect and it was blackend perfectly with just the right amount of kick. 8/10 Ribeye ($48): Well seasoned and tender, the broccolini paired so well and the Pumpkin see gremolata just set it over the top. Everything wen together to make it arguably one of the best steaks we've had in Birmingham. So tender you barely even needed a knife to cut. 9/10 I would recommend this restaurant if you are wanting to go somewhere with a nice view away from the city that also has good food. The outside area is perfect for drinks anytime of day, with fire pits helping as the sun goes down to offer warmth. Alright, I haven't visited in a while, and the brunch menu has changed. The staff service is always a 5/5 everyone is very friendly and helpful with the menus or questions. This is a beautiful restaurant they even have a dedicated area for cooking classes, and you can reserve space for private parties. They have a full bar you definitely must stop by for a drink. Now the prime rib was 4/5 the meat was a little overcooked. The steak and eggs are excellent. I highly recommend that dish. The quiche dish was light and creamy texture. It was Thanksgiving and the food wasn't good. It wasn't hot and we spent WAY too much. I wondered why nobody was there.

Firstly let me say, this is one of the most beautiful restaurants I've ever been in. But unfortunately as soon as we walked up to the host stand. The man seemed extremely uninterested in being there. Mumbled so low, we couldn't even understand what he was saying. And acted like he didn't care if we were there or not. This service continued into the waitress. She had no knowledge of the menu, or what was popular. Another server loudly yelled to the bartender (across the restaurant) about a tv show they were interested in, being very disruptive. We ultimately decided to just get drinks and have dinner elsewhere. I've never done that before. We won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend anyone trying this place. Whoever manages this restaurant needs to fully wipe the staff and start over. read more

I went here on a Friday night, it was relatively busy but they practice social distancing very well with a well circulated room. The doors and windows were open which gave me great reassurance that we all weren't concealed in one room. There's also seating outside which is great! The staff always had masks on and were super nice. Also, instead of actual menus we could access the menus on our phones which was pretty cool! I've never really been to a rooftop bar so this was a great first experience. Not too high off of the ground but high enough to enjoy a view. I had the gumbo in a cup (pictured below) I wasn't really hungry so I was glad it came in a great size. The gumbo was amazing and flavorful! I also had the margaritas which was great! The ambiance is beautiful. I get the feel of Alice in Wonderland when I'm sitting inside or outside. The paintings are amazing. They offer cooking classes weekly/monthly. They also have wine tasting. This was my first time here so when I saw the dinning area I just knew the food would be wonderful. Unfortunately I was wrong. I ordered the ribeye medium well with fries. Then menu is very limited and I assume this is due to COVID. My steak was cooked perfectly but lacked flavor. Normally I don't ask for steak sauce, but this time I had to. They had everything you would want to order from a menu and could order omelets etc. The atmosphere was trendy and comfortable and our waitress was really friendly and attentive. I really enjoy going to Habitat Feed and Social. I visited for Birmingham Restaurant Week. I was pleased with the menu options that they had for restaurant week and was so excited to try the menu items. For starter, I had the chilled cucumber tomato gazpacho soup. It was very filling and the taste was different. I think that it would have been even better warmed. But, I get the idea was to have a chilled soup. It was good, but the portion was a lot. I couldn't finish it all because I wanted to save some room for my entree. I chose the steak frites. The steak was so tender!!! It tasted like heaven! It was so good. The fries were well seasoned and they were also good. As you can see from the pics, they also give you a lot of food in your entree. Although I probably didn't have room for dessert, I got some anyway because it was included in the lunch deal that I chose. I picked the strawberry shortcake. I liked the unique way that they did it because it didn't look like strawberry shortcake that I have had in the past. It almost looked like a croissant on top. The top of it was a little crunchy. I don't know if it was intended this way or if it had gotten a bit hard. However, it still had a cake texture. The bottom of it resembled it a pound cake slice. It had strawberries in the middle, along with whipped cream. The strawberries were so fresh. I enjoyed my meal. It wasn't very crowded when we went. So I hope that more people venture out at lunch. It was easy parking and the customer service there is impeccable. I got lost on my way up (as I do every single time), and the young gentleman at the valet station was extremely helpful. My husband and I went and had dinner here we're staying at the Bohemian Hotel. We were super excited because we've stayed at the bohemian hotel in Orlando and their food was out of this world first off. The menu is extremely hard to understand when we asked our waitress about it. She explained it, but when the food came out, it was nothing like what she had explained. We got a salad that had chili peppers all over it. It was too hot. We ended up not eating it. I got the fish and it was overcooked and tasted like bleach. My husband got the lamb and it was like beef jerky. Super disappointed. I wouldn't recommend anyone going here for any kind of a special occasion or a party. It was very poor quality of food. To start our evening me and my guest attended the Kessler wine making class. You get to sit around a large table, with other guests and blend wines from grapes in different regions. The wine specialist that leads the class is knowledgeable and engaging. He walks around interacting with each guest. After trying 4 wines (cabernet sauvignon, merlot, malbec, petite sirah) you get to mix 3 different blends. Your top choice is bottled and labeled with your custom designed label. Oohh and I must mention the is a bubbly (some sort of champagne) used to cleanse the pallet. It was quite tasty as well. They don't serve meals during this course, but they serve a variety of cheeses, meat, bread, and quiche. We didn't have a reservation for dinner, but we were seated quickly. Or server was great. She made sure that all of our needs were met. She was kind and personable. It's good when you have server that's actually happy to make your experience one to remember. A server can make or break an experience for sure. We moved on to dinner at Habitat. I had the duck garganelle pasta. It is served with butternut squash, romanesco, mushroom brodo, manchego cheese and lemon oil. It was seasoned perfectly with a delicate flavor profile. The duck was tender and shredded really when touched with the fork. My guest had the 16oz grilled Alabama ribeye with creamy Alabama grits and green beans. The steak was topped with Asher Blue cheese butter. The steak was cooked perfectly, it was served medium well anes was extremely tender and juicy. I'm not sure what it's seasoned with, but man was it good. We were so stuffed that we didn't try a dessert, but I'll definitely be back. read more

Bourbon Apple Cider: the bourbon was strong. It definitely went down smooth with it warmed up. Stuffed quail with cornbread Stuffing and Bourbon Pecan Agrodolce, it was delicious. The sauce complemented the savory quail and the stuffing perfectly. Braised short rib with wild Mushroom Risotto, Fried Onion, and Gremolata. The braised short rib was cooked perfectly tender and easily pulled apart. The risotto was flavorful, but undercooked. The server helped me to returned the risotto, kept the short rib. When the server returned, she informed me that the chef insisted on giving me a whole new serving of the braised short rib and risotto. I greatly appreciated the gesture. The risotto was better, but there were still some undercooked grains of rice. 8OZ Black angus filet with loaded Potato Gratin, Brussels Leafs, Wild Mushrooms, and an Au Poivre Vert. It was a great quality cut. My friend ordered it medium, but it was cooked rare. I helped eating it since I didn't mind it being rare. Overall, the dish was salty, especially on the Brussels leafs and the wild mushroom. Definitely need to hold back on the salt. Cranberry bread pudding with strawberry ice cream with good. There is room for improvement on the food. The service was wonderful and the decor was great. I will give this place another try. read more

I enjoyed the chicken gumbo soup and the crab cakes they were both well seasoned and warm. I was very disappointed with the charcuterie board, the cheese was very hard and cold, the meet was just not right and presentation wise they could have done better. Overall a great experience because our server and hostess were extremely pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable. When Habitat first opened I went to try it out and it was fine but I thought not sure it was worth the expense. Well I went back with friends (on a Thursday night) who were staying at the Grand Bohemian and we had everything on the menu almost. It was not crowded inside so most of the noise was out on the roof top patio. We had the whole restaurant to ourselves and it was one of the best experiences I have had in awhile. The server was on top of everything before we asked. I had the truffle ravioli in basil cream and it was divine. We also tried the fried oysters and antipasto salad. Everything was well prepared and perfectly cooked. I washed it down with and orange martini which was not to sweet and not to tart. Perfect night with friends! My husband surprised me with dinner tonight for Valentine's Day. We were immediately seated once we arrived (he made a reservation). Tonight's feature included a Valentine's Day Menu which offered a 4 Course Meal for a fixed price which included a glass of champagne. The 1st course included a mini potato pancake topped with caviar. For my 2nd course I chose the chilled oysters, tuna tartare, and jumbo shrimp trio all served chilled. For my 3rd and main course I chose the pan roasted cobia, and for dessert a trio of chocolate fudge, strawberry shortcake, and bananas foster. Our food was amazing ,and our waiter was very nice and attentive he even offered to take a picture of us in celebration of Valentine's Day!! We will definitely return. read more

I have found my new favorite food in BHAM. The atmosphere is amazing first and foremost. The grand bohemian has some of the coolest artwork and most unique interior design across the board. The rooftop remind me of Alice in wonderland with all the unique chairs, floral arrangements and decor. The inside is very nice as well and is a great place to have a few drinks! We came for our anniversary dinner and were absolutely blown away by the food. I got the lobster ravioli with a side of mushroom risotto. I have had my fair share of lobster pasta dishes but this is the best I've ever had! The pasta tasked homemade and the sauce was delectable. I scooped the bowl clean. The mushroom risotto was so unique. The cheese used was so strong and delicious. My husband got the shrimp and grits with a side of potatoes au gratin. The shrimp and grits were good but compared to the lobster ravioli nothing to write home about. The potatoes were so fresh and delicious. They were my favorite side item. I dropped in late on a Sunday night in the hotel in which I was staying, not knowing what to expect and wow! I started with roasted cauliflower - pillowy soft and wonderfully comforting, with a dollop of sweet and peppery sauce. My main course was broiled halibut, and the sweetness of fresh shucked corn and sweet potato underscored the fresh crab atop a moist and delicious halibut steak - sublime. Courteous and engaging service with educated recommendations rounded out this unexpectedly delightful experience. We had a birthday gathering yesterday at this restaurant and left there most disappointed. To be clear, it wasn't in any way a problem with wait staff. Stephanie did a great job. But, the buffet would have been something I would expect to see at most any airport Holiday Inn. No biscuits, no bacon (Stephanie did bring us some after telling her) nothing was even warm (no hyperbole here - the food was not warm!), and the options were very limited. I was very excited to come here for Sunday brunch after reading all the reviews. The restaurant area is really nice with a very nice area for outdoor seating when the weather allows. We had made a reservation and were seated within a few minutes of waiting. You can get the buffet or order off the menu if you prefer. We all chose the buffet. The buffet is in its own room with dishes set up all around the room. I was very excited until I noticed that there was only one side that actually had food and it was only breakfast items. So no brunch, only breakfast. I usually am very happy with Marriott breakfast buffet but frankly, this one fell a little short. There weren't a whole lot of options and the bacon was out when we went up. I got scrambled eggs which were very good and sausage links since there was no bacon. The grits were creamy and tasted really good. The fruit was very fresh and I really enjoyed it. I liked everything I ate but left feeling disappointed. The restaurant is located in the beautiful grand bohemian hotel and gives me Alice and wonderland vibes with their unique furniture and decor. They have a decent sized patio, and is perfect for sitting outside on nice spring days. We ordered the morning marg, and it was very fresh and light. I ordered the smoked salmon benedict with breakfast hash. It was delicious. The staff was very friendly and attentive. 10/10 highly recommend this place.
