My finished board after the class!
    Jamie S.

So I haven't been in the shop yet, but I attended a private event board building workshop for a bestie's birthday hosted by Charcuteray! There was a beautiful board already made for 8 of us to snack on that featured the ingredients we would be using to build our own boards! It was all delicious. Then we followed along with a sweet lady showing us how to cut cheeses, arrange the board, and telling us all about each ingredient. Once we were finished, we each had this beautiful board loaded with goodies to take home. It's definitely enough for like 4 people. And I would normally scoff at spending $50 on what I would consider something I could have done myself for much less. But the quality of ingredients made it very worth it! Plus I learned some good tips and tricks. Our friend group loves to do charcuterie, so this was really a fabulous experience worth doing for a special event! It's a unique concept, and a fabulous way to celebrate a friend's birthday.

I'm almost a year late to reviewing Charcuteray, but I realized I never did and felt horrible, because they are FABULOUS. I had Charcuteray cater for my wedding, snack size portions for about 180 people, and their spread was absolutely incredible. An enormous variety of meats, cheeses, spreads, vegetables, fruits, and crackers. The layout was beautiful and they decorated it lightly with greenery that matched my color scheme. They were one of my only vendors, and on the day of my wedding I barely even registered that they were there setting up. So professional, quick, and prompt. My guests were thrilled, everyone had plenty to eat, and EVERYTHING ended up being taken home by our guests and wedding party (we bought little takeout boxes for this purpose). I was weary of having to throw excess away, so I think this speaks to the delicious selection they brought! Thank you, Charcuteray for being a part of my wedding day and providing such beautiful, delicious goods!

We were having a beer across the street at Renaissance when we noticed some new shops. We decided to wander across the street to see what was up. So glad we did. Charcuteray is a small shop and was a bit busy when we walked in. That did not keep one employee from seeking us out. The case was a little bare but she said they could make anything we wanted in about 10 minutes. We ordered a small plate and then said we would be back. (We wanted to check out Gadget, too). As soon as we returned, we were greeted again and told it would just be a few more minutes for them to perfect the plate. We chatted and learned a bit more about the shop. There is more than just charcuterie here. There's also fresh flowers, cheese boards, and accessories. I didn't think that the price was too high (for the heft of the box). I will be back!!!!! (The tiny little offerings look perfect for lunch!)

My wife had a salad and egg salad sandwich, her sister had a Caesar salad and both said that they enjoyed their choice.I had a French dip sandwich, as recommended by our server who was friendly and made good recommendations, also keeping the refills on coffee coming regularly, which is appreciated. The French dip was very good, but the bread/baguette, was incredibly good! Really special! I really liked the coffee as well, apparently a local supplier,, although I forgot the name. Place was not overly crowded on arrival but had a wait of 20 people or so by the time we finished. Highly recommend! Wonderful throwback to yesterday year atmosphere.

Turns out that the night before we ate at McNellie's, which is a part of the restaurant chain that owns the diner. Our server at McNellie's was terrific and they knew her. We were seated promptly with a nice view of the door. We started our breakfast with coffee, which was strong and very good. I decided to pack on the carbos with a short stack of pancakes topped with caramel sauce, bananas, and walnuts. Wow, they call this a short stack! I am quite certain I could never eat a tall stack! My wife ordered the breakfast tacos, which looked quite small compared to my pancakes, but she loved the flavor--a nice mix of scrambled eggs, avocado, and cajito cheese! More coffee! We rolled out of the place very satisfied and pleased with the service, ambience, and food! We highly recommend the Dilly diner!
