I've driven past this place for almost a decade and honestly never gave it much thought. From the road, it doesn't look like much -- and I'm not even a wine guy -- but wow, was I wrong. This was easily the best wine I've ever had in my life. On top of that, the owners are incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely entertaining. You can tell they really love what they do, and it makes the whole experience even better. If you're within driving distance, you owe it to yourself to stop by. We have driven by a few times and decided to stop in. Small and unassuming space, very unique varietals. The owner was very personable and had great stories on each of the wines , names and label art. All stainless fermentaion, very fruit forward. The tastings are either 5 or 10 small pours, that you pick from their wine list. They use small plastic thimble like cups for tasting, which was enough to get the flavor. Don't let this little place fool you. Yes it's next to their house, but come in and stay a minute....or hour or 2. We were visiting from out of town, our usual, hiking and hitting the wineries. This was the most friendly place we have never been. And the wine is so good,especially if you like sweet wine. We did a tasting that was fun and entertaining. Then we grabbed a bottle and sat outside and met some amazing locals. We ended up staying several hours. Can't wait to come back on the next trip. read more

We did some wine tasting and ended up with 2 bottles of wine and some glasses. Very friendly employees/owners and we loved the stories for all of the wines! I couldn't agree more with the reviewer who said not to underestimate this charming winery! Next to the proprietor's house is a tasting room where dogs are free to sniff about and two horses graze in the yard. We ordered the 10-sample taster and Mike (the owner) told us engaging stories about each wine's pedigree, instead of simply putting the flight of samples on the bar and moving on. He's a great storyteller and talked in part about how each wine's name came to be, often influenced by the dogs they own. It was great fun talking with him! The wines were uniformly delicious!! We bought four bottles out of the 10 samples we tasted, and each was only between 17 and 24 dollars. The next time we're on vacation in the Shepherdstown/Harper's Ferry area, we'll definitely go back for a second round of 10. Thanks Mike! Five stars!! read more

My friends and I loved going here for a tasting. $12 to try the entire selection (in December 2020, this was 17 wines) was amazing. And when I say try. What I really should say is shoot. The lovable couple that owns and runs the establishment gives you a full (half-shot) of each wine which is definitely enough since you could be trying up to 20 wines in one sitting. My friends and I made a reservation three months in advance and the couple rolled out the royal carpet for us giving us a private igloo. However, there was one group of ladies leaving as we were coming in this we got the bar area to ourselves. It was fantastic. I would like to say we stayed for 2-3 hours. Definitely closed down the joint. It was such a fun place. My parents love sweet light wines and that is there speciality. Will be taking my parents and one of my other best friends here again. As they told us when we entered. This is not your typical winery. They don't age their wine in oak, or add tannin's or chemicals. They also use some very different grapes. With this stated, their wines are still good. As others have posted, their wines have interesting names, and they tell the stories behind them. We met the owners and the owners and staff were very pleasant to talk to and very down to earth. The cost was 5 wines for $7 or 10 wines for $12 The provide the tastings in little plastic cups, but they fill them up to the top, so you get a good taste. Details of the wines: 7 white wines available of the 9 listed 7 red wines available of the 9 listed 1 of the 2 fruit wines available of the 2 listed I mainly tried the reds. My favorite of the reds was the Devil's Punchbowl which is a blend of Frontenac and Chambourcin. The taste isn't like a normal red wine I've had anywhere else, but it was good. Another wine I liked was the Sheik, which is made from Corot Noir grapes. It had a similar taste to a Port wine, but it isn't fortified. One other I tried was the Red Ruby Slippers. I wasn't a fan of it on it's own, but I agree with the people there that it would make a good sangria or mulled wine. Some of the white wines were Shenanigans, which is a dry wine made from Cayuga grapes, So Naughty, made from Catawaba grapes, and Uva (Bella) which was made from a Traminette grape. I liked all three of these grapes. read more

The wine tends to be sweeter - think picnics, backyard outings, after dinner conversations on the porch, etc. Wines for a good time if you will. But what sets this place apart is the people. Very outgoing, like walking into your favorite bar. Even if it's your first time, you feel welcome. We planned to stop by for 30 minutes and we ended up staying for 2.5 hours! When you do a tasting, they share the story behind every offering. Some are named for people, others are named for favorite pets, and still others are connected to local folklore. It created such a fun environment that is easy to get into! This is very much a mom & pop type winery, and they take great pride in their work. Their location isn't the biggest, or the fanciest, but I'll be darned if it wasn't one of the best times I've ever had at a winery! read more

It's really great to have a winery so close to home; beats having to drive all the way into Virginia or Maryland. Mike and Shelly were so kind and made us feel welcomed waking through the door. I loved hearing about the the back story to each wine and the interesting flavors! The wine definitely has a different taste from traditional oak-based wines, but I personally like them and that they don't add any additives. The wines are not too dry and not too sweet. Also, you can't beat the $5 wine sampling of all their current wines! Such a great added family-business to the eastern panhandle. Bonus: Our kids enjoyed meeting and petting their friendly hours! I have wanted to try this winery for a while now. Okay, so we are dry red wine drinkers and they have "mostly " sweet wine, but we loved this place. We bought Red Ruby Slippers, which is a drier wine. But, the sweet wines are really unique and better than the typical sweet wine. I thoroughly enjoyed our tasting and talking with the owners! It's very clean and cozy, which I love! The owners are wonderful! I got to pet the "well-taken-care" of horses. I love this place and I know sweet wine drinkers who would love the unique sweet wines.
