NEGATIVE -----TEN STARS. BEWARE. Future brides, If you want a Drama-free wedding, I urge you to NOT make this your bridal shop. LOOK ELSEWHERE. There are PLENTY of bridal shops that will carry just the same brand and variety of gowns with BETTER staff, if not more. I purchased a wedding gown from Charisol Bridal and the store's own tailor had completed a hemming job on my dress on my sleeves and the bottom of the skirt. Dissatisfied with the job they had provided me with, I decided to pick up the dress from Charisol Bridal to have it looked at by another independent tailor. Upon trying the dress on at the new tailor's, I noticed the hemline at the bottom was uneven with a portion of it at the front shorter than the rest (SEE PHOTO). I also found a stain on the front of the dress even though I have not taken the dress out of the original bag until that time. I reached out to the manager at Charisol Bridal who told me that there is nothing she could offer to mend the issue rather than to "listen to [us]" over the phone. I asked for a better solution and the manager later called back offering two solutions for the problem: 1) provide me with the refund for the tailoring job, which is $450 OR 2) order an entirely new gown from the designer. I opted to get the full refund of $450 for the tailoring since the wedding was very close and I will be out of the country for a full month before then. The manager was made aware and had agreed to refund me a full amount of $450 + any cleaning fee for the stain. She proceeded to take my credit card number down for the refund which I provided. I was contacted the day after (today 4/12/19) by "Mike" from the shop (owner) saying that this is not their responsibility and that they have contacted the designer for a new dress. I was very upset and dissatisfied that 1) they did not offer me the refund that they had offered even after taking my credit card information over the phone 2) they have requested a new dress to be shipped from the designer fully aware that the bride will be unavailable and WITHOUT ASKING ME. At this time, I am left with a bill from my new tailor of $700 to undo all the previous tailoring done at Charisol Bridal and to tailor the dress all over again with Charisol Bridal Boutique refusing to refund me any money for the botched tailoring job they had done. UPDATE: just called the shop to make a quick visit at the shop to resolve the issue in person, my mom started the conversation pleasantly, then Mike the owner asked "What do you want for your wedding?" and when my mom began to answer, he cut her off constantly, infuriating my mother. My mom asked "why do you ask us what we want if you are not going to listen?" he replied "resolve this matter on YOUR OWN" really? my mom got upset, things got heated up and then he started accusing my mother of using INFORMAL KOREAN LANGUAGE. Done with even trying to put up with their refusal to admit to their own mistakes and failing to give us the refund they verbally agreed to (this is held against them by the Better Business Bureau). Visited charisol almost two years ago to try on some wedding dresses. I was pulled in by the raving reviews and the fact that there was a bridal shop so close to home. I believe I was helped by someone named Kimberly. I was given a questionnaire to fill out and then she selected some dresses for me to try on. My friends and I were able to peruse the collection and find dresses as well. I wasn't sure which style would fit me the best so they were able to help me narrow it down. The bridal attendant was so patient and kind. She really knew which style would fit my body the best and from that visit I knew I wanted a dress that was very fitted and in an A line shape. My friends took a ton of photos so that was very helpful to see which looked good on me. I also tried on a lot of dresses. Fast forward almost two years later and it's my friend looking for a wedding dress. We arrive for an appointment and are met with someone named Vicky. She was ok, a little pushy and didn't really give me the same vibe that Kimberly did. There was a form again to be filled out but since the venue was not determined she suggested that it would be better to find a dress after. A nicer way to approach would have been to not state that at all because it felt like she shouldn't be trying on dresses to see which style fits the best. So currently they only allow 5 free dresses to be tried on. Anything more than that requires a payment of $20 for 5 more dresses. Also mentioned everywhere on the walls were no photography unless it's a say yes to the dress. Um, how are we suppose to help our friend see how she looked like in each dress? Also when I grabbed a dress to pick for her, Vicky snapped telling me to put it down and to listen to her. I didn't really feel so comfortable going around picking out dresses for her after that. At the end she stated that she also does makeup and is available for wedding services too. Overall, if I were the bride again and went through that type of customer service I wouldn't be too compelled to come back after all the new ways of the business. read more

After some hit and miss experiences wedding dress shopping for my bff, I hopped on Yelp to narrow down. Charisol had high reviews and I was somewhat familiar with the area. So we gave them a shot and boy were we happy we gave them a chance! Best experience, great service! They have a great selection of dresses, reasonably priced She was great! Kimberly the owner helped us. She understood what we wanted and was also very helpful when selecting dresses for my petite size 4'11" bff (the bride). We never felt rushed or pushed to select something. Kimberly took her time, even staying a little late to give us time. We found the dress! During the alterations process, Kimberly was very attentive. As the MOH, she made sure I knew how the dress should be put on, how to bustle it, how it should lay, ect. She made it really easy and was so understanding. I would highly recommend Charisol and if I ever get married, this would be the first place I go! I've been to a lot of bridal shops, and I mean in all different parts of the country. I came here and stopped looking. The wedding was in August 2015 in NYC. I didn't live in NY at the time, but had family there. Charisol did everything possible to make multiple fittings work for me on my schedule -- whenever I came to town to see family and make wedding arrangements, I stopped by for another fitting. Service was always extraordinary. We went through small modifications each time, and on the day of, it was absolutely amazing! All of the staff at Charisol Bridal Boutique go above and beyond to assist you. I had such a great experience (especially with Celine and Kim) and would recommend them to any bride out there. One of the major things that I loved was having access to ALL of the dresses and being able to sift through them myself. I did let Celine know the style I was looking for so she could lead me to a few that had that style, but I had full range of all of them! With another shop I went to, we were only able to give them a style or "look" we were interested in, and then they pulled the dresses which wasn't fun at all. It was such a pleasure to work with Celine, Kimberly and Stephanie! They were very attentive and followed up with me in a timely manner. I bought my Allure wedding dress here as well as 6 bridesmaids dresses. Charisol was actually the first place I started to try dresses on and LOVED everything about their dresses, hospitality and the cleanliness of the place. I wasn't so sure of what I wanted for a dress so I kept looking at the typical places such as David's bridal, Macy's and the big chain stores. I realized that a lot of these places don't take their time to actually listen to what you like and just shove dresses at you for you to try on in hopes that you like one of them. Charisol Bridal is so different! After going to all the different stores, I went back to Charisol bridal not only for the dresses, but for the service. They listen to you and actually help you in your dress! Lol. They have tons of selections to choose from and they'll help you find the right fit for your body. Finding a dress is hard and frustrating at times. They made that "choosing the dress moment" exactly how I imagined it. Thank you yelpers for your spot on reviews that led me to this place! After 20+ dresses and four bridal boutiques/warehouses (idk how else to describe rk bridal), I finally said yes to a dress! I had two days of intense dress shopping and was at a point where I just wanted to get it over with. I know two days isn't that much in terms of time, but I was super consumed by it and it was draining me. I was very close to settling on a dress at RK bridal that was flattering, but I just had the uncanny feeling that I could do better that was confirmed by one of my bridesmaids. I was considering heading back into the city when I thought about checking out the local boutiques and stumbled on this place... I called them in the morning, and they were able to graciously squeeze me in for their last appointment that day. It was such a different experience than the places I previously went to. It was so... personal. Celine let me roam around and pick out all the dresses that I wanted to try on. I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted/didn't want, and she was very respectful of my opinions, but made a few suggestions of what she thought would look good on me. They had a nice selection so I didn't feel limited at all - especially compared to another boutique in the area that I visited earlier that day. I was ultimately stuck between two very beautiful, but very different styles that were both well within my budget. I was able to make my decision based on 1. my fiance's preference (I could totally hear his voice in my head saying, lace?! you look nice but you also look like my grandma's curtains) 2. what I felt comfortable wearing (felt a little more self conscious in one of them for some reason, tbh I'm not really a lace person myself) 3. how we kind of envisioned the 'theme' of the wedding to be. I couldn't have been happier with my decision and the amazing service and attention that I got here. I'm uncertain how I feel about this store. I am currently a bride to be and walked in with my fiancé after our dentist appointment which is literally 2 businesses down the block. We walk down and ring the buzzer and are let into the building. We walk in and before I could lift my head a voice was yelling down from the top of the stairs. (Not how I imagined the interaction would go but ok I'll engage.) I informed the woman at the top of the stairs (whom I assume was the seamstress because of the pants and needle in her hands) that I was a bride to be and was interested in looking at bridesmaid's dresses. She told me that viewings are by appointment only and no sales reps were available at the time(it was after 12 pm on a Wednesday). As I was talking to her we were walking to the top of the staircase and when I finally made to an appropriate place to have a conversation she handed me a business card. I would've like to be able to browse around on my own rather than setting an appointment and being timed as I haven't even chosen my bridesmaids yet. Oh well it is to be determined whether I will return or not. read more

I can not say anything negative about Charisol. Celine made my dress shopping experience such a great one! Every girl dreams of the moment when they find their perfect dress and the process was becoming extremely stressful for me. I was set on finding a mermaid style dress but I just couldn't find the "right" one. After meeting Celine, she had me try on a ball gown and I completely changed my mind. People often say that brides usually get the opposite of what they are looking for...this is true! She was amazing and helped me customize my dress to be the perfect dress! Her demeanor was warm and was willing to go above and beyond to help me. I could not be happier with my dress and with Celine as my consultant. I got to speak with Kimberly briefly since Celine was out when I decided on a customization and she was lovely as well! Charisol is extremely professional and every bride should go! The only thing that I questioned was their pricing for alterations. They charge $350 MINIMUM. Although I'm sure they do a great job, I thought the price is a little too high since I'm paying extra to customize my dress with the company. The boutique has moved since I got my bridal gown a year ago. I haven't been to the new place yet so I cannot comment on the space. The staff is amazing and I got to work with Tiffany and Kimberly. I was looking for a Maggie Sottero piece and found them on the retailers list on the MS website. I was called and asked if they had the sample for me to try. They had a huge selection of gowns there as well as a selection of gowns they can order for you from the catalog. I highly recommend this place as I found my ceremony and reception gown there. Staff is amazing! Kim, the owner also designs some of the more high end dresses. I only needed to go to this bridal shop and was able to get my wedding dress AND rent my engagement photo shoot dress. Kim and ----- was super honest and told me when something didn't work or I didn't need it. They weren't out to get a sale. Also made my husband drive - he got lots of free meals for it xD The ladies at Charisol are passionate about what they do and working with them was a wonderful experience even for a bridezilla like myself! They helped me try on so many dresses on multiple days! They even gave me insights on each dress I tried on ie. best time of year, weather, themes, hairdo, jewelry, etc! They helped me visualize it all. They have a very varied and beautiful collection of dresses. I loved the dress we finally chose together! And they were willing to work within my budget! I was a very indecisive and fearful bride but they helped me through the process and accommodated all my requests, tailoring ideas, questions, scheduling conflicts, and last minute changes. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about the service I received at Charisol's. It had been a long day of trying on dresses at 3 other boutique's, and I had just come from an AWFUL experience at David's Bridal. But from the moment I walked through the door - despite being the last appointment of the day - Judie treated me like a queen and really made the day feel special. She was the only one who asked about my groom, asked to see my ring, a photo of the venue, how long we had been together, etc. You could tell the details MATTERED to her and she really loves her job. I tried on a few dresses - she was also the only one out of all my appointments (Kleinfeld's, Pronovia's, David's Bridal) that let my mom and bridesmaids go though the racks and find dresses we love, so that I could take everyone's styles and opinions into consideration without any pressure. I loved that. And after I found the one that I LOVED, she took the time to create the look I want on my wedding as much as possible - substituting belts for me, picking the right veil, even finding a pair of earrings that are nearly identical to the "something old"I will wear on my wedding day. I never asked for any of those details - she just did it. Right before I was ready to say yes to the dress, the incredibly talented seamstress (I didn't catch her name) came in and carefully showed me what they would do to the dress, how they would bustle it, where they would take it in, etc. She answered all of my questions and my mom's, who has experience in this field. It made me confident in her skills, too, and excited for my first fitting! Overall, it was such an amazing experience and I would highly recommend it to any bride. From start to finish, it was an absolute pleasure to work with Kimberly, Stephanie and Celine at Charisol bridal. The personalized customer service, value and EXPERT tailoring all exceeded my expectations for my wedding dress. I came across Charisol through a Yelp search after trying on close to 50 gowns. It's worth noting that I'd tried most of the major shops in NYC before I found Charisol - everywhere from Saks, Lovely, Kleinfeld, RFK, etc. I immediately felt very comfortable working with the Charisol team. In the pushy world of wedding dress sales, Stephanie was very friendly, patient and professional. I had focused my search on lace gowns that weren't strapless, and they had numerous options that fit that criteria. While the sales process was excellent, Charisol truly excelled in alterations. Kimberly was an expert and worked with me on every single detail. She presented my options clearly and explained the process very well. My mother and mother-in-law, both with sewing experience, were blown away. My dress was stunning and fit me perfectly (and was comfortable!) I loved my bustle. Finally, I came in well below my budget. Budget is obviously unique to every bride, but I never once felt that I was being price-gauged. In fact, the dress I ultimately selected was one I had tried on previously at Kleinfield. Charisol was recommended by a friend who also found her wedding dress here. This was the 3rd (AND LAST) place I went to to look for my wedding gown! I worked with Celine and Stephanie, who were both angels. I had a good idea about the style and fit I wanted for a dress, but Celine brought out one dress I wasn't too sure about. She suggested that I try it on anyway. Lo and behold...it was THE ONE! Somehow she knew I was a simple girl and so she picked out a simple dress with very subtle details that brought the dress to life. We added on a beaded sash and it just brought the whole thing together. After putting on a sample veil and holding the bouquet, I started to get emotional. So much so that the staff began to share my joy and joined in with the tears! The day of the wedding, I got many comments on how flattering the dress was on me. Celine & her team have a great eye for fashion! They know what they're doing! The staff are amazing and very supportive. A cozy little bridal boutique located in the midst of Queens' Korean-town, Charisol is run by several warm but informative Korean women. You walk in there with a few ideas of what you want and they bring you some dresses that fit the bill. The dressing room is tiny and crammed, as the store itself is not that big. I knew I didn't want to blow that much of my budget on the gown, and everything they showed me was more than I wanted to spend, plus I didn't see anything I absolutely loved. They are also one of the NYC stores that carries Maggie Sottero dresses, which is the main reason I came. Anyway, unsuccessful for me, but the hospitality was good and basic alterations are included, so give it a try. read more

I had an amazing time at Charisol. I finally bought a dress!!! For about two months, I was searching for a wedding dress that will fit me yet looks great. I tried on about 40-50 dresses but nothing looks great because of my oddly shape body. I went to RK bridal twice, david's bridal in long island, manhattan, and queens, and 6 different boutique stores including Lotus. I had no luck! Majority of the times I dealt with salesperson who has nasty attitudes and will just listen to my mom and grandma but not listening to what kind a dress I want. So they would bring me ball gowns, or ruffles, large flowers dresses etc. So each time I would feel extremely disappointed seeing myself in the mirror, looking fat or short. There are some salesladies in other places aka RK Bridal who are extremely pushy and will force you to buy a dress and tell you "Listen to your mother, you look great in this dress, make your mother happy." It pisses me off when they said that because I know the dress doesnt look great on me. That saleslady tied the back of the dress so tight, and I almost fainted because I could not breathe. There are other sales ladies who will bring out all dresses you asks for and will tell you, you look good in everything but when you look at the pictures you know you dont look great at all. I was so close to buying a dress at David's bridal bec the salesperson was so convincing but when I look at that picture, I look hideous and my friends even thought so. When I went to Charisol, it was a different vibe. The moment I walk in their store, it felt so warm, like you truly belong there. There is this sweet aroma that gives you this feeling of calmness (as we all know shopping for dress is extremely tedious and stressful). Celine is extremely nice, honest, modest, and patient. I found a nice dress on my second try. It was a mermaid dress, the one I've been looking for. She was honest with me and told me the truth of what I really look. She even told me that It is my wedding and I have to feel comfortable in what I wear because I am the one who is wearing the dress, not my mom or grandma. I spent one hour in that one dress and she never complained about it. She was always smiling and grateful that I stop by her shop and she enjoyed having me as a costumer. So i came back the next day brought my mom and sister and grandma, they like the mermaid dress, but tried to convince me to try on the Ballgown dress. I was a little hesitant because of my past experience trying on a ballgown dresses made me look extra short and chubby. But when I tried on that dress, it was mind blowing, I felt extremely great, it made me look skinnier, and I looked like a Princess Bride. So for three hours we were stuck between the mermaid and Ballgown. Celine was so patient with me and allowed me to try on both dresses back and forth. Eventually I went with the ballgown because i felt more comfortable in it since the mermaid was kind a tight and I was afraid I might not be able to walk well. I am really thankful that I found Charisol because now I am stress free from finding a dress. Celine is the best salesperson I ever met. She is so warm, kind, and truly love her job. I brought two other friends who are getting married as well. Both of my friends love her too. We all agreed that the environment and salesperson make a lot of difference in your experience finding a dress. Its hard to feel great on a dress under pressure and when the salesperson is pushing you to purchase something you really don't like. I highly recommend all the brides out there to visit Charisol. So going to many bridal shops with big hopes of finding the dress for me I was sadly let down. I thought to myself my dress must be out there... but where??? I talk to my friends and family members and they suggested more bridal shops and I tried on probably around 60 dresses but to no prevail where any of them the one for me.. so one day just sitting home I went on the Internet and just looked up nearest bridal shop... then charisol bridal came up. I made the appointment and went the following week.... now with only three months to my wedding I was a wreck!!! So walking up to the door I was so nervous but then I was greeted by a loving and caring face( Kimberly) She took me around the boutique and show me many beautiful dresses all different styles etc.. But none of them where for me.. until I saw this one dress hanging and I pulled it off and said to myself no way..... this is not me as I laughed.. but then Kimberly and my mother who was with me said hey just try it on. So I did and let me tell you when I walk down those stairs out of the dressing room an overwhelming feeling came that I have never felt before.. Not only was this the dress( THIS WAS THE DRESS)!! The look on my mother and Kimberly's face was priceless... and with that I had my dress... Now keep in mind I only had 3 months to my wedding and with my weight going up and down I was really nervous.... but Kimberly promise me I would feel comfortable in my dress.. and she did deliver on our promise... through all the fittings of taking in and letting out she assured me that everything will be perfect for the day my wedding... and surely it was... I cannot express how much gratitude I have towards Kimberly and her professionalism... not.only is she a true professional but she has a caring heart and she wants her bride not only to look beautiful but to feel beautiful.... and that is exactly what Kimberly did for me.... Fantastic service! Kimberly and Celine are accommodating and extremely sweet and friendly. They're able to make you feel comfortable when you're with your girlfriends. I have been visiting for bridesmaids dresses but our bride also found her gown here. They have a great selection of different styles and it's not intimidating (such as Kleinfelds). It's pretty private because it's smaller so they don't overbook with multiple appointments going on at the same time. We were able to joke in a group as we swapped trying on gowns. Easy and quick measurement appointment, as well. We haven't gotten the dresses yet but I am happy with the current experience with them!
