Yon is honestly a miracle worker. She made my wedding gown into my dream dress. I came to her with a custom gown that was way too big and needed a ton of work. I think I had at least 4 fittings with her and she made sure that it fit just right. She also bustled the back of my dress in two places and trimmed extra fabric to make my dress lighter. For the amount of work she did, she easily could have charged me double. She and Christine are so sweet too. My last fitting happened to be on my birthday and she even steamed the dress I went out to dinner in before I left. She truly is an expert in her craft and the kindest woman. Yon is the most incredible seamstress!!! My wedding dress did not fit me properly and she worked with me for months to ensure that the dress fit absolutely perfectly on wedding day. She is professional, extremely talented and ensures what you are wearing is perfect for your body. I bought my dress from Jaehee bridal and was recommended to come here for alterations. I was told they do alterations ala carte, so you only pay for what you need done and it's not a package. I came for my fitting and the woman jokingly said, so what do you need done? Because I'm basically sample size and it fit very well. The only work we agreed needed to be done was to add a thicker cup on one side since my girls aren't exactly even. And to take in 1/4 inch in the top by the bust. They said it would be $899. I'm not a seamstress but my grandmother was, and she would slap me from heaven if I paid that much for such a simple alteration. I was told the sales rep from Jaehee wasn't suppose to quote any pricing. Not a huge deal, will be taking my dress elsewhere. Lastly, when they brought out my dress the woman started ripping through the plastic and tearing off the paper wrapping, would have been nice to unwrap my own dress. read more

Yon is amazing! I brought in my wedding dress that I purchased at another shop, which she had no problem with. Dress needed a lot of work in the chest area. She built in a corset, took in and out different parts of the top, took a bunch of the length off, and made double French bustle (double French. It was so easy to do that I was able to direct my husband, my sister, and brother-in-law how to do it and they bustled me up in less than 1minute. My photographer said he's never seen a bustle done up so fast nor has he ever seen the groom partake in it! Would totally recommend Yon for any formalwear or wedding dress! Beware: this company either has a dishonest salesperson or is a dishonest business. I chose My Daughter's Wedding III in Englewood, NJ because the reviews said it was a little pricey, but very reliable. Initially, I brought two dresses to get tailored--one needed straps shortened and skirt hemmed; the other needed shoulder pads removed. None of these is actually very complicated. AFTER everything was pinned and whisked away, I was quoted $650. I was SHOCKED at the price tag, but I told myself seamstresses needed to make living, too? The girl at the front desk told me paying with credit card would incur a 3.5% surcharge, which was WILD on top of $650. Because my bank was only two blocks away, I withdrew the cash and handed it to her, getting a receipt for my records. When I needed another outfit tailored for the same weekend, I figured I'd keep things simple and bring it to the same place. My bad. I was again quoted $650 (the job was a little more complicated this time, so I felt a little better about the exorbitant price?). After I handed over the cash a second time, the girl at the front desk printed my account with them, to date. My charge of $650 was listed, BUT THE PREVIOUS CHARGE HAD BEEN RETROACTIVELY CHANGED to $400. Red flag! She had entered it accurately in the system the first time (I still had the receipt), so she must have gone back in and changed it. When I came back a week later for a follow-up fitting, I asked for another printout of my account, wondering whether the MORE RECENT charge had now ALSO been changed. But the girl behind the front desk was too slippery for me! Before she printed, she ASKED ME TO REMIND HER how much I'd paid the week before. Why would she need to be reminded of this? Because SHE NO LONGER HAD THE CORRECT AMOUNT LISTED. What this tells me is that EITHER THIS GIRL IS THE NEXT ANNA DELVEY, pocketing $250 from each of my payments, OR SHE WAS HIDING THAT MONEY ON BEHALF OF THE STORE? I really liked the seamstress I worked with. She was sweet and capable. But THE GIRL BEHIND THE DESK STOLE $500 FROM ME! read more

This is where you should have your wedding dress altered. No question. I live in Manhattan and was getting married in Long Island and did a detailed desk top search and then did a tailor "tour" trying on my dress for various tailors. MDW III was the most professional, they seemed to be experts, and they knew the time, care and detail that goes into a wedding dress. Lastly, they are around the corner from the Great Neck Train station and have amenable hours, so I was able to easily hop on the LIRR train after work on weekdays for fittings. My dress turned out to be far more complicated that anyone originally thought. I bought the dress off the rack and it fit fairly well. I needed a hem, the removal of a tiny stain, and perhaps a little bit of body work. Over the course of the tailoring process I lost about 10-15lbs and Yon managed this process seamlessly. She went above and beyond what I could have ever asked for, sewing in cups in the bodice and an additional support structure within the waist area of the dress. The dress also had a flowy layered structure, and Yon was able to match that look instead of doing the hem to maintain the look and feel of the dress. My dress (see photos) looked amazing and fit perfectly. Most importantly, they really care about their work and the dress fitting perfectly. This was comforting and I trusted them completely. STAY AWAY. this place is awful. they prey on the emotions of the bride to make a buck. First of all, the person working the front desk was dressed so inappropriately it was clear she did not care about her appearance, this job, and much less the customers. She wore a spandex short jumpsuit and sneakers (think richard simmons) and this would be forgivable were she pleasant and welcoming. Spoiler* She was neither. At no point did anyone ask me any questions about my wedding or compliment me or my dress. These are all things you would expect for a bride's first fitting. It felt as if I was disturbing the staff. As for their pricing....completely predatory. I was quoted more for my alterations than the cost of my dress. It was as if they just indiscrimitately charge what they want and hope no one says no. When I sat in the lobby I heard them quoting every person between $800-1200. I decided I would do my alterations elsewhere and while I inspected my dress I realized It was honey and not ivory. It is a very subtle difference but this is something that the staff should be quality controlling. They also did not review my veil. I was given the royal instead of the cathedral. When we asked if they could replace it they informed us that they did not have any and that we would have to wait for the shop to send one. It was not until after I pushed back on the price, expressed my concerns over the wrong dress, and was growing noticeably upset that they said they did have a veil in the back they could give me. It was clear this point they simply wanted to get me out of the store. What they provided was a piece of tulle attached to a comb with edges so jagged it looked like the girl cut it from a roll with her teeth. I left the shop so upset and I wish I could tell you this was the end of this saga but it was just the beginning. The proceeding weeks after this and leading up to my wedding were spent trying to chase down someone from this shop to confirm they would be providing me with a replacement veil and the correct dress. Both this store and the shop dodged my calls and were not in any way sympathetic or assumed responsbility for messing up the order. Again mistakes happen but having a staff with zero customer service and accountability is unforgiveable. read more

Yon was efficient and very knowledgeable in my experience. I had bought my gown at another retailer and had heard horror stories about their alterations department. I Live fairly close to MDIII and always admired the gowns in the window, and noticed they did outside alterations. I brought my gown in 3 months before my wedding date and Yon, immediately knew what to do to make a bustle that would mimic the pleating in my dress. She had no issue working and manipulating the tulle and she also had a very kind and funny disposition while doing so. I had a quote for my alterations and a few fitting appointments and was happily out the door in a timely manner. I was back about 3 more times after that and was always happy with each visit. My alterations, cleaning and steaming were $350, for the amount of work done I though that was more than reasonable, it is a wedding gown after all and I did pay a significant amount of money for it. I couldn't have been more pleased with my experience at my daughter's wedding III. I will be bringing my gown in for preservation, as they also do that. If you are bigger than a size 4 in any way, do NOT come here. I'm a size 2-6 in dresses (usually a 6 if it's fitted and a 4 if's not) and a 6 in pants. They did not have a single dress I tried on that fit me. They all HUGGED my butt like they were suffocating it. What bridal store only has dresses for size 0-2 women? This one! The woman I worked with also didn't really know the dresses, fit, or what I was asking for. All the dresses are mixed on a rack that you have to pull off to see. I went through everything on the rack like it was Forever 21. The prices are low, like all between $800-1500 which may explain what was going on, but I would NEVER EVER recommend this place. My Italian butt will be looking elsewhere. read more

My daughter was incredible picky about her wedding dress. She knew exactly what she wanted. It was no where to be found. At my daughters wedding, we came close, it was the right cut, the right back, It was almost what she wanted...but it wasn't a halter neckline, it was strapless. Yon literally just saved my life. First I went to a dry cleaner's "tailor" on a recommendation (they will remain nameless for this review) to take in my bridesmaid's dress at the very top of the bust. When I came by to get it, she (to make a long story short) messed it up. Royally. One day before the wedding. Then I knew my friend had taken her wedding dress to My Daughter's Wedding III and was pleased with how it came out, so I went there as soon as they opened at 10am and begged Yon to help me to save this dress. Very professional, asked me what happened, when the wedding is, how I wanted the dress to actually fit. She asked me what my schedule was like today, if I could come by to try on the dress before she completed fixing the dress to make sure I liked the fit and it was what I wanted. I left it in her capable hands and she said she would call me when I should come to try it on (told me to expect around 12:30pm). She called around 11:45am and had me come in, made some more adjustments and told me to pick it up at 1:30pm. I did and it looks AMAZING!!! They could have taken advantage of me knowing the wedding is tomorrow but it was reasonably priced IMO for the amount of work that needed to be undone and then redone, and the time she did it in!! 3.5 hours and she fixed my dress!! I cannot sing their praises enough. I will always go here to get alterations from now on, and will recommend to anyone that needs alterations done to clothing - GO TO MY DAUGHTER'S WEDDING III !!!! This is a wonderful shop to bring your wedding dress for alteration, they specialize in wedding dress and formal dress alterations. I needed my wedding dress altered in 2 weeks and they were able to accommodate me so I was very grateful. You go in for multiple fittings so they can do your shoulders and top part first then they move onto the bottom for length and whatever else. The owner who altered my dress was so meticulous and you can tell she takes pride in her job. Just remember that this isnt a mom and pop dry cleaner/alteration business so it wont be cheap. But that's the price you pay for going to a professional. For me it was worth every dollar, because I had a peace of mind knowing that my dress would fit me perfect at the end. In the future, if I need formal dresses altered I would definately take it to this shop. Its appointment only so dont forget to call if you need to go in for consultation! read more

My mother ordered a dress here for my sister's wedding. They told her it would take 10 weeks for the dress to come in. 11 and a half weeks later, they finally gave her a call that the dress was there. When we went for the first fitting, we looked at the dress: not only was it a different style, it was the wrong color too! They kept insisting it was the dress that we ordered until we went to the front of the store and took the sample dress to show them what we had ordered. They responded by saying "Oh. You can have your money back if you want." 3 weeks before my sister's wedding. My mother had the biggest panic attack and wound up buying a dress from a different store off the rack that she was not really in love with. They were completely not sympathetic and didn't even apologize! For such a high-end store I was completely disappointed in the customer service. read more

My daughter had said "Yes" to a wedding dress from another salon. It was a sample, and it was in pretty rough shape. Yan took at look at my daughter in the dress, set up a schedule of appointments and produced a finished product that made the sample look every inch the expensive custom gown it might have been at 3 times the money. It's true that the alterations were expensive, but she put a lot of time into it: double hem, bustle, sewn-in undergarment, boning and fixing torn lace. My point is - you get what you pay for - Yan was a pleasure to work with, a real professional who delivered a spectacular product. This bridal shop saved the day for me and my best friend's wedding. The staff are angels! I had left my bridesmaids dress on my flight. I didn't notice until Wednesday night at 1 AM and the wedding was Friday. As you can imagine, I was flipping out. After spending hours calling the airline and even going back to the airport, I was about to give up. Then I figured I'd try to call bridal shops and see if anyone had the dress in stock. I looked up every bridal shop that carried the maker of the dress and finally I called My Daughter's Wedding III. They didn't have the exact dress but they had a very similar one by the same maker that had the same length and color. I had less than 24 hours to get and alter a dress but they were so sensitive to my needs and they said they could do it for me. They made a miracle happen. They sold me the dress and altered it so that it was nearly identical to the one I lost. Not only did they totally save the day, but they were so sympathetic. They could have totally taken advantage of me but they were really fair too. I'll never forget the lengths that they went to for me to get the dress in time. read more

I just picked up my dress from my daughters wedding. The dress was beautiful and the service was good. I just had one major problem, how do you charge someone $600.00 for alterations on a $600.00 dress. I was never quoted this price. I agreed to $335.00. When i go back and they are making adjustment, they keep adding $$$$ without your knowing it. I have to say I am disappointed because I never knew about the add on cost. . I could have had a dress made from scratch for that price. I am sorry to say that even though the place was nice, and so were the people, they mislead you. At this point I had no choice, the wedding is in a week. Shop here but be very careful about the alterations charges. read more

Terrible! They make you think one group of women own store but really its the woman in the back making the alterations who owns the store! and not only is she not talented at alterations, if you find a problem with the work she's done, she will laugh in your face! I have never been so upset with a store or store owner before. My sisters wedding was a week away and when I went in for my final fitting which was suppose to be me checking to make sure it was all perfect, I got there and the work that she had done to the roucheing on the top of my dress was massacred!!!!! bubbling, uneven, it was horrible, i broke down into tears on the spot, and she laughed at me and proceeded to cut my hem without measuring . UNFORTUNATELY my sisters wedding was a week away so a new dress could not be ordered to match the rest of the brides maids (not that she offered to order a new dress) and I will have to go to my sisters wedding in a dress I wouldn't wear to a learn how to sew class. I forgive mistakes and I was willing to work with her but her manner and tone was disgusting I left in tears dress in hand and went to another seamstress in Great Neck, who was a pleasure to work with. NEVER I MEAN NEVER go to this store, its one headache after the other, I ended up paying 300 dollars for a dress that was originally 200 dollars, which in my opinion was too much to begin with. What did this experience tell me, ORDER your bridesmaid dresses from a well known store, with policies in place that help the customer. I wouldn't go back there if my life depended on it. And that is a shame because the women that work the front were actually very nice, too bad the alterations and owner was such a bad seamstress . Ugh what happened to the customer being right? The owner's only interest is money.....and the prices for alterations is as she sees fit.... Seriously, the most unprofessional wedding store ever. I called the store and inquired about two bridesmaid dresses (Alexia 4264 and Alexia 4260). I wanted to know if They carried one of the dresses, and if could come to the store with one of my bridesmaids so she could try it on. I saw the dress in a catalog and found out through the Alexia website that this venue sold Alexia dresses. I was told on the phone that if i wanted to try on the dress I would have to leave a deposit because the dress was in a box and they did not want to open the box. Then, the woman tried to justify her reasoning to me. Out of all the things I have heard, I have NEVER heard of paying a wedding store a deposit to TRY ON a dress because they are too lazy to open a box. This sounds like a scam to get more money to me. In the end the joke is on them because all of my bridesmaids and Maid of honor would have gotten their dresses from them (9 girls). She did my wedding dress and built it up where there was no fabric to help me have less cleavage - and you would never know it wasn't the original dress. She's now working on my bridesmaid dress for my sister in laws wedding which I bought in March. I am now 25 weeks pregnant and she's been able to alter it so that I still look and feel fabulous (and fit in it!) The alterations are on the pricier side but are worth every penny for feeling beautiful and comfortable. read more

I had my wedding i the summer if 2013. I live in nj but I'm from Long Island. I needed to find a place where my mother could find a dress. We went to My Daughters Wedding because my sister heard from a friend that the shop was small, but the staff us awesome and the owner is amazing. She rebuilt her dress and improved in it so that her friend could look her very best at Tiber sons wedding. Mom found a dress, Yon completely transformed it and she looked wonderful. My sister and I also had our dresses altered there as well. Yon said that she needed to do something she had never done before. She made a bustle for the front and back of my dress. If she had not dine thst the dress would have looked awful when the back was bustled. My casablanca dress had a train and it was all tulle, very unforgiving material if you make the wrong cut. When the dress was complete I was just amazed at how it had transformed. It was easily my best looking day to date. I couldn't have bee happier. The girls are awesome there. Let me start off by saying, I never like to give a bad review, but this place 100% deserves it! I've been married 3 years and planning my own wedding, particularly the gown aspect, was magical. I bought my gown at The Wedding Salon of Manhasset - a truly fabulous bridal experience. Recently, my best friend asked me to be her matron-of-honor. She had already ordered her wedding gown from My Daughter's Wedding III in Great Neck, so she found bridesmaids dresses there too. When I ordered my dress for her wedding, she had me order a gown. The store knew full well that my friend wanted me to cut the gown to a cocktail length dress. They also knew that the cup size of the gown was too small for me and that I wanted to 100% add straps to the dress. They told me that to cut the gown would cost me between $40-$50, but alteration fees were capped at $100. Seemed a little steep considering the local tailor at the cleaners would only charge $17 to cut the gown down to a cocktail dress, but at the same time, I figured, the dress shop would do better alterations since they specialized in dresses... All 7 bridesmaid/matron dresses were supposed to be in by the 1st week of July. Every week after we called and they said, next week. The dresses finally came in the last week of August, with only 6 weeks until the wedding. When I went in to pick up my dress, they told me that if I was planning to cut it down it would cost $40 (as previously discussed), but it would also need to be tapered at each individual seem, which would be a signifcant additional charge. I was angry because this was not discussed when I purchased the gown. I discussed it with the bride and she said I should just leave the gown as a gown instead of cutting it down. I scheduled my fittig appointment, went in and was very pleased with the alterations discussed to add straps and to add one extra pleat in the neckline so that my bust did not runneth-over! When I came out of the fitting room to find out when I could pick up my altered gown, they said the cost of the alterations (strap and neckline) would cost $175. This did not include slightly hemming the bottom of the dress. I was shocked and appalled. When I had ordered the dress I was told alteration fees were capped at $100. Now they say that I am reconstructing the dress, not altering, even though they knew full well when I ordered the dress what I was planning to do. They told me I could pay them $25 to leave all of the pins in (for the 10 minutes she spent pinning me) or I could have them remove the pins - either way, take the dress someplace else to see if I could get it altered cheaper... Bottom line, this place is not upfront with their alteration fees. Buyer beware! In addition to my problems, I also encountered another bridesmaid in the store fighting about false alteration advertisements as well. They also ordered one of our bridesmaid dresses in the wrong size and they told her she would have to have the dress let out and to lose weight. The bride goes for her fittings and leaves every time feeling anxious and stressed - the complete opposite of what a bridal fitting she be about! My fittings at THE WEDDING SALON of Manhasset were superb. They made me feel like a princess. MY DAUGHTER'S WEDDING III is a filthy store run by rude manipulators. DO NOT GO THERE! read more
