There were only two staff members on site, Kade and Stephanie, and they were clearly short staffed yet completely on point. Kade moved back and forth between myself and another donor to keep triage flowing as efficiently as possible. Both Kade and Stephanie worked diligently and mindfully, clearly respecting our time and the importance of the donation process. What stood out most was their attitude. Despite the circumstances, they remained positive, calm, and professional. We cannot always control the situations we are handed, but we can control our attitude and they did that beautifully. They worked seamlessly as a team, and it was evident they genuinely enjoyed working together. Their teamwork and spirit made the entire experience a positive one, and it was truly appreciated. I truly hope the American Red Cross recognizes what valuable employees they have in Kade and Stephanie. The Community Furniture Bank actually doesn't only deal in furniture; their website says they also accept appliances, linens, and kitchen supplies. No charge for the pickups too! Two friendly men in logo-ed polo shirts showed up right on time and worked speedily and professionally to haul my heavy piece of furniture down a few flights of stairs. I was very impressed. I had also called other charitable organizations that pick up furniture, and they all had about a week's wait or longer. Community Furniture Bank was able to swing by the very next day. I filled out the online donation form and got a faster response than by just e-mailing, so you may want to fill out the form first.

My Kiwanis Club (The Kiwanis Club of Vulcan) joined our Key Club from Jackson Olin here on…read moreyesterday to do some community service. We helped Bundles of Hope Diaper Bank prep diaper packages for families in need in the Birmingham area. They are very organized so we were able to easily learn what we needed to do to be able to jump in and help. We will definitely go back to volunteer our time. The warehouse is kind of cold during these cooler months so be sure to dress warmly if you volunteer during a colder season.

That is the first time I've ever experienced that in a Goodwill. This location is larger than most I've been to. The staff were pretty friendly. The dressing rooms were blocked off with carts and signs. I asked an employee if it was available to use. She stated I could use one of the first rooms. So I'm not sure why it was ALL blocked off.
