I called in first to see the process about selling clothes and if it was okay to come in and they…read moresaid yes. I came in to Uptown Cheapskate for the first time today to sell some of my clothes, shoes, and purses. I brought my items in a trash bag and they said they don't accept items in trash bags so next time use a reusable bag. I wasn't told on the phone and didn't see this on the website. They told me to fold my clothes nicely into the laundry basket. I put my items in a laundry basket they had behind the counter. They gave me a 10% off coupon for any purchase I made today in store. I walked around the store while I waited for them to price my items. I was called over for the payout of my items and they bought 5 items out of a large laundry basket size of items I brought in. I'm disappointed because I had namebrand items new with tags and gently used namebrand items that they did not buy, I brought mostly summer items! I was frustrated because a lot of the items in the store were way more beat up than my items. They threw all my clothes into the basket all a mess! I was told to go to the register to pay for the shoes I found, and I waited a couple minutes while making eye contact with an associate at the purse counter, who continued to ignore me as I was waiting to checkout. He finally came over and charged me out and I had the coupon next to the shoes and after being charged out I asked if he use the coupon and he said no, I didn't see it, it's too late. You can use it next time. I went to gather my items to take out to the car and I did use one of their laundry baskets to take all the items they wouldn't take back to my car and the door sensor went off. I went back to the sell item counter and the associate told me he forgot to tell me that there was a security tag on the basket. The employees were very chatty with each other and I feel like the customer service was neglected heavily for my experience. 2 stars because I did find a pair of shoes but I would give a 1 star for customer service.

The store has all of its various sections separated so that you can easily find whatever you're looking for. Whether you want to come in to shop for home goods, knickknacks, jewelry, electronics, books, records, CDs, or either men's women's or children's clothing, it's very easy to find the section that you're looking for. FYI, they have restrooms in the back if you need to take care of that type of business. As is the case with all Savers, the prices here tend to be a bit higher than other thrift stores chains. This is not so much a criticism, it's just something to keep in mind. This is not say that you can't find that great deal. It's just that if you're looking for that cheap shirt, pair of pants, jacket, or whatever else, you may not find it here for the price you desire. In terms of parking, they have a large parking lot directly in front of the the store. This lot is is shared with a few other businesses. Though during peak hours,, it's sometimes can be a bit hard to find space, generally you should be able to find one without too much of a problem. Overall, if you want what Savers has to offer, this is a very nice store, with a very nice staff to find it.

I went inside and the mood shifted, clothes were off the racks, books were stacked on each other, toys on the ground, and the home goods area was a MESS, and there was an employee sitting on the furniture at the front!! When I went to check out, the line was long, the registers were moving slow but I can't blame them, they had no help! There was what looked to be a manager walking between the registers, he was talking more than he was helping. I didn't catch his name but he had a hat with a beard. He seemed to be very "close" with the employees, lots of laughing and touching. I feel like there is a lot that can be done to improve this store, more specifically, the management on the inside.

Prices are consistently good, and I like knowing they're doing meaningful work--it makes me feel better about both shopping and donating here. They usually have a half-off sale toward the end of the month (worth planning around), and the rewards program is a nice little perk--you'll randomly get a few dollars off here and there. I come here on a weekly basis and also visit other Salvation Army locations, and this one has some of the best customer service out of all of them. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience at some of the other locations. What really makes this location stand out is the staff. The workers are what make the shopping experience better. Their kindness, helpful attitude, and positive energy make such a big difference and make people want to come back. From the entrance, on the right side, you'll see the big racks of their current trends or hip items. Had some nice jeans and also some more dressy wear. The lady at the register was pretty chill and said they ran out of shopping bags, I was like it's okay I can just carry them out. I guess it matched the discount store vibe lol. They do have a few changing rooms with staff standing right outside if you need anything - thought that was pretty cool. Parking was pretty much almost full when I got there, but was able to find parking right by the front of the shop. Think I'm gonna add this location to my list of thrift shops in the area.

The prices were high across the board, and there were barely any discounts, which already made it hard to justify buying anything. After spending about 30 minutes searching, I finally found an item I wanted, only to be told at checkout that they couldn't sell it to me because it didn't have a tag. I've been to many Goodwill locations before, and this has never been an issue, usually they just retag the item and/or scan something similar and sell it. Instead, I left empty-handed after wasting my time. Between the pricing and that policy, I won't be returning.

I do wish they would stop this new trend of organizing by size. Half the time, stuff is mixed in anyway so I have to go through it all. It was much easier to do this by color! Also, the new sections don't seem to make much sense. There will be some dresses in one section going from XS-XL, then the XS starts all over again with more dresses. I understand they're trying to organize them by casual/fancy/long sleeve, etc, but it doesn't work when people don't file them correctly. I'm also BEGGING them to stop using those black box "air freshener" perfume machines on the walls. Some of your customers are allergic to scents (me) and it's not fun to get an instant headache and runny nose inside the store. Unfortunately the clothes reek of it even after washing them several times. Please just clean the store instead of covering up smells with more smells. On the plus side, the employees here rock! They're nice in a chill way that doesn't feel fake or customer servicey. They're always busy stocking, and they don't stand around talking (this is a major issue at the Brea store). Dressing rooms are always clean but they're super stringent about the clothing limit of 5 at this store. It can get a little annoying to keep switching stuff out. 8 items would be more reasonable? I do wish they were a little more strict about the 15 min time limit because families of 5 will go in and take 45 min. There's only 2 dressing rooms so sometimes I just try stuff on over my clothes. Overall, this location would be perfect with a couple small changes! Side note, I love the parking lot here, which is huge and always has spaces.

I feel bad for the employees who have to inhale that endocrine-disrupting chemical all day. The store is also super crowded - people had to work hard to navigate around each other - all because GW corporate decided to waste prime retail space with aisles of cheap new products I could find at the Dollar Store. I don't come to goodwill to buy paper towels, guys. Stick to used merchandise - that's why we are here.
