This is one of the best locations in OC! A hidden gem. It may be a small store but it's packed with great stuff (both housewares and clothing). I do wish they would stop this new trend of organizing by size. Half the time, stuff is mixed in anyway so I have to go through it all. It was much easier to do this by color! Also, the new sections don't seem to make much sense. There will be some dresses in one section going from XS-XL, then the XS starts all over again with more dresses. I understand they're trying to organize them by casual/fancy/long sleeve, etc, but it doesn't work when people don't file them correctly. I'm also BEGGING them to stop using those black box "air freshener" perfume machines on the walls. Some of your customers are allergic to scents (me) and it's not fun to get an instant headache and runny nose inside the store. Unfortunately the clothes reek of it even after washing them several times. Please just clean the store instead of covering up smells with more smells. On the plus side, the employees here rock! They're nice in a chill way that doesn't feel fake or customer servicey. They're always busy stocking, and they don't stand around talking (this is a major issue at the Brea store). Dressing rooms are always clean but they're super stringent about the clothing limit of 5 at this store. It can get a little annoying to keep switching stuff out. 8 items would be more reasonable? I do wish they were a little more strict about the 15 min time limit because families of 5 will go in and take 45 min. There's only 2 dressing rooms so sometimes I just try stuff on over my clothes. Overall, this location would be perfect with a couple small changes! Side note, I love the parking lot here, which is huge and always has spaces. read more

The very intense and artificial smell that permeates this store was inescapable. I'm not even sensitive to odors, but the aroma was incredibly off-putting. I feel bad for the employees who have to inhale that endocrine-disrupting chemical all day. The store is also super crowded - people had to work hard to navigate around each other - all because GW corporate decided to waste prime retail space with aisles of cheap new products I could find at the Dollar Store. A good stop for thrifted treasures. Place is always clean and staff super courteous. They'll often have some new decor or some other home goods that are new/overstock type stuff. As with any thrift store, it's a mixed bag, but I have left with top brand name slacks and sweaters that looked new. read more

An employee was taking items off the shelf today that had blue stickers. The color of this week: BLUE. I asked her why she was tossing them in a cart and she said " to make more room" and that "they are old and have been there too long". I told her I thought it was strange that she is only removing items that are the color of the week. A few other shoppers heard our conversation and we all agreed that Goodwill does this so you will buy items that are not 50% off. I always wondered why I could hardly find anything with the sticker matching the color of the week. They change the colors on Fridays so you would think they would wait until then to remove "old" items. How does she know how long something has been on the shelf? I don't think there are dates on those stickers and they use all of the primary colors daily. Total scam. read more

This is one of the Goodwill locations where we donate when we are on vacation. We picked up this idea from a travel magazine. The author mentioned how sometimes people get gear or clothes for a specific trip and then plan on not using it again and that it can help donating it right away at the location where you're at so that people planning on a similar activity in that area can find what they need for less and help reduce recycle reuse. We also try to travel with items that we plan to donate so that we can pack lighter bags on the way home. This way we can wear what we plan on donating, then wash it and drop it off before heading back home. It is good to know that our gently used items can help someone who can get more good use out of them. read more

No returns or exchanges for OC, but that policy is not listed on any signage in the building. This policy needs to be clearly communicated verbally before completing any transaction. I would not have shopped here for a theater production had I known. I have never heard of this, in fact, OC is the only county with this policy. It's super disgusting here too. Came into to check out some records and was rudely approached by a worker named Rose. She complained that I had moved the records to an area she was working on and that she only had 15 minutes to work on it, reminding me that the store was about to close. Look It's not my issue if the employee needs to complete a task by a certain amount of time. The aggressive attitude that she displayed has turned me off to any more future visits at this location. This Goodwill is now off my radar and off my map. I will shop at Savers for all future shopping sprees where customer service is stellar and there is no harassment to check out. read more

FYI: If you are a person of color, you might want to keep an eye on the employees at this location. Uncomfortable shopping experience. They tell on themselves. They will follow you pretending to be working i.e. checking on tags (stupid), moving around clothes on the racks for no reason, they will be hovering around you. It's obvious. The moment you go to the register to check out, miraculously all the employees disappear to other parts of the store or to the back of the store via the double doors. Not only are the clothes overpriced compared to other Goodwills I've shopped at, but I am never able to find any color tag item that is marked 50% off. This location is so overpriced compared to others in the area, you may want to stop by if you're in need of some comedic relief. A pair of infant shorts that I had literally seen at the other location were selling for twice the price. Picked up a dress without a brand tag and it was priced at 14&! Keep in mind that Goodwill gets all of their items for free, as it's "donation based". You're much better off going to literally any other location-- better selection and more reasonable prices. Thrifting is personally just a hobby for myself, but it's extremely unfortunate that nowadays some locations are pricing items so high that those in need may be unable to afford them. I had to donate a box of stuffed books and stuffed animals, as well as a bag of clothes. There was only one man working, as it was a Friday afternoon, but he was busy working a little forklift when I arrived. I brought my bag out of my car and he immediately instructed me as to where to put it. I then got the rather large box out of my car and asked him where to put it, and he said he'd take care of it and proceeded to take the box. Donations: I dropped off some items for donation. One thing was a three piece collectible soup serving set. It was packed carefully in an open top box. The attendant dumped it into the bin and I watched it fall. He proceeded to smash it in. That was an item I had a hard time parting with because I did really like it but need to clear out my kitchen. Has good stuff, but the staff/management are super unprofessional and unfriendly. They don't say a word to customers, only each other. And their conversations should definitely be private. And she said no I can't change the price but it clearly said on the tag intimately it should have been 4.99 not 9.99 not a lot but the point! So she said no and wrote on my receipt final sale! One of the newer Goodwill's around, this one tends to be pretty good. My rule of thumb is that a thrift shop is only as good as the community around it that is supplying it. This particular store, though technically in Placentia is surrounded by Brea and Yorba Linda so you can always count on something nice to be found. My wife always tends to find something nice in the cabinets near the check out counter, usually you can find some Coach sunglasses, purses, etc. at this store. Make sure you check the aisles with a careful eye as you can spot some nice finds around here. There is plenty of parking as it is located in a large-ish shopping center with plenty of places to eat around it. read more

Well organized, staff is friendly here. We went on a Wednesday evening and found a ton if great items here for our home and a few great purses and even a great nightlight for my niece who is disabled. All items were very clean and in working order and even came with batteries which is more than most locations! Of course there was quite a crowd so check out was a bit of a wait, but that's to be expected. They did open additional registers to handle the crowd and we were out fairly quickly. I will definitely visit this store again whenever I'm in the area for business in the future! read more

We recently went to Goodwill and donated what was left of my father's treasures. We wanted to make sure his things went to a good place and also a place where people could benefit from the things he no longer needed. All of his things were in excellent condition. As we began to pass off the boxes that we had carefully boxed as not to break anything, the guy working there took each box and dumped it into a bigger box. All we could hear was the shatter of glass. It almost brought me to tears. When I questioned this process, the gentleman replied "it's just the way we do it." It would have been no different for me to just throw my father's belongings in the trash. So sad. I will never donate here again. They don't care about anything. read more

I read all the horrible reviews regarding the donation center and decided to go donate my stuff anyways. And boy were these reviews on the nose! Pulled up and said "hey how are you?" to the employee who proceeded to grunt at me. Then he reluctantly helped unload our truck refusing to take a small (lightweight) patio set stating they don't take large furniture. however he then proceeded to take my upholstered accent chair that was bulkier and heavier . I ended up taking my patio set to savers (which was in quite nice condition too). As soon as we pulled up to savers we were pleasantly greeted with a smile. The whole experience at savers was much more professional! Definitely save yourself the awkwardness and burdensome feeling and JUST GO TO SAVERS!!!! read more

**Donation Center Review Only** I have mixed emotions about this donation center. Sometimes they earn 5 stars. They are friendly, helpful, and seem thankful for the donation. Sometimes they help me empty the car and I just kick back and say bye to my stuff. I've moved a lot recently so I've had lots of trips to the goodwill. Other times I feel like an inconvenience. I'll pull up with a car full. No one else is there donating. The guy won't come out or bring me a bin, he'll just be off doing whatever else. I can't carry as much weight and some times I'm forced to leave stuff in the car for a time my hubby is with me cause they won't help me get it out and it's too heavy. Another time I came with my Mom and the guy was like, "Just throw it over there." Every time my hubby has gone without me he says he's had a pretty pleasant experience. Must be me. Lol. read more
