8/15/23: My kid (18) and I grabbed some great pieces at actual thrift store prices!! (unlike the chain thrift shops which are priced accordingly for customers to pay their rental fees & employee wages.) This seems to be a legit thrift shop which sits hidden in a small strip mall along Orangethorpe and the railroad tracks. They have been there for a few years, hardly noticeable, until the stores were recently painted a dark-burgandy-maroon-ish color, easily seen from the main road. Clothes appear to be clean and in great condition. We were greeted with a big & happy welcome from Darryl and another young gentleman. Helpful & friendly staff, courteous, professional, appreciative. They do accept donations (clothing, shoes, accessories, bags, jewelry). Store hours may vary with what is posted on their signs, so call ahead especially if you plan to go an hour before closing. I recently visited Motivate My Closet and was extremely pleased. This thrift store supports the company Clear Motivations which support individuals, youths and adults, with disabilities. As we entered, we were enthusiastically greeted by 4 employees and their leaders. We originally went into the store to look at computer monitors, but ended up buying other items as well. Kayla, the manager shadowed a worker named Matt and helped him complete our transaction. Her patience and motivation was refreshing to see. I recommend everyone to support this establishment. Overall, I liked the store. Parking is limited, but not impossible. The selection is quite limited as well, but maybe the clothes just weren't my taste. The staff was very friendly and greeted me kindly. It seems like they regularly have sales, so I'd say it's pretty affordable. Great place. This is a non-profit thrift store that provides jobs for people with special needs. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. And one of the employees makes and sells cute bracelets! I feel good about shopping here and supporting this place. Prices are actually affordable, and today everything was 50% off. Hope I can donate some clothes here as well. read more

What I like most about Motivate My Closet is that the place is well organized and presentable. When I go to other thrift stores and items are all over the place, it stresses me out. So the cleanliness here is awesome. In addition, the moment you walk through their doors you are greeted and welcomed. The employees and the manager, Claudia, do such a great job with customer service, which I truly appreciate. I love the idea of this store. They give jobs to adults with special needs. However, the woman who works in the store is very rude. She's not nice to the other adults working, I have heard her be rude to them. When I had an issue with her once, she said don't get mad at me, I work with disables who probably messed it up. Every time I go in, the store says 50% off yet, whenever I take items up to purchase the woman working will always tell me "well not on this". She will tell me things are tagged wrong or don't apply and I've politely told her that isn't good customer service she has raised her voice at me or said well it's not my problem. read more

I went into this thrift store knowing its a thrift store. The lady there was demanding to everyone working and rushing them. I proceed to shop around I asked her about a salad spinner she said its 4 dollars hands it to me n it was scratched on the side so I said oh thank you I will pass, she replies well its a thrift store nothing is new here ok. I said well ofcourse I know that ma'am. When I was paying for my stuff she was rushing me and my mother saying well I have to leave by 6pm etc. The people they have working there are special needs and I dont even think she threats them good she kept rushing them saying hurry hurry she doesnt deserve to work here at all or any customer service I asked for her name I believe it was Yolanda and then she said wants yours I was so aggravated I said have a good night so she decided to start yelling at me from across the counter when I was on my way out the door, saying I was rude since I walked in that I was a mahadera which mean being stupid . Definitely not a place you want to go even if you find great things this lady deserves to be fired. read more

Oh my god, I love this place. Now this is how every thrift store should look like, so clean and very boutique like. They have such a wide variety of goods, clothing, toys, gifts, jewelry, accessories, furniture, TV's for less than $10. I fell in love with these hand made creations - called Matt's Treasures. I want to point out that the customer service was at its best. Kindly greeted up front, was asked if I needed assistance with anything, and the employee at the register was super nice.
