The hot water went out at my house. Charity was very quick to send someone out, which i do appreciate from them. The man they sent to my house (I'll edit this later with his name, if I can) was very friendly. After some basic troubleshooting, he determined that I needed to completely replace my tankless water heater. He seemed knowledgeable, and claimed he had 20 years of experience-- 20 years more than me, obviously, i work in finance! His reasoning was it could be multiple things and therefore, it would likely be more expensive to fix the water heater than it would be to just outright replace it. Made sense. I used an analogy of a 1992 Camry that is broken in numerous ways. Could be fixed, but why bother? Just get a new car. I was told it would be a three (3) hour job and it would be 4,875$. According to Home Depot (https://www.homedepot.com/services/c/cost-install-water-heater/9058c024e) the average cost of install is 4,300$. Arizona has fairly high markup on plumbing, so I do believe this is competitive for the services rendered. The cost of a new water heater for me would've been 1,300$. So far so good. After relaying this information to my father (an engineer) he laughed and said if I wanted to pay that and get ripped off, I could, but it would make more sense to have him look at it. So he did. I relayed the specific places of concern to my father (corrosion in the pipes) to which he laughed. "Well no shit. Arizona has hard-water. Of course there's corrosion." When he got to my home, within about ten minutes he identified what the problem was. A faulty valve. The part was about 200$. No big deal. Resolved, hot water now comes out just fine. But then I remembered the quote and reasoning from the plumber they sent out. "It would cost you more to troubleshoot this entire thing than it would to just have me replace it." Please remember: The cost of complete replacement was 4,875$. So lets do some math here. The average salary for a plumber in Arizona is $58,910 per year, or $28 per hour. However, salaries can vary depending on location and experience. So lets say this plumber is being paid 60$/hr. According to ZipRecruiter, 45$ is the higher end for plumbers. But let's be generous here. If he gets paid 60$ hourly, it would be 81.25 hours of troubleshooting-- or two standard work weeks. (assuming he works 8 hours a day) But say, 60$ isn't reasonable enough. Lets push it forward, say he makes 100$ an hour-- then it would take 48 work hours (6 days, if we assume he works 8 hour days) for a man with 20 years of experience to troubleshoot and resolve any potential issue with the water heater. Just so we're clear, on the lower end, it would take a man with 20 years of experience 81 hours and 15 minutes to figure out what the issue was. My suspicion is that he very likely would've made commission upon selling me a new unit, which I have no issue with. Let me be clear-- I have no issue with people making money off me. I understand-- people deserve to be paid, and skilled workers deserve to be paid well. Handsomely, even. I am no plumber. My father isn't a plumber. He's a mechanical engineer. Yet he resolved the issue in less than 15 minutes to see what the issue was. What I have major issues with is when people try to screw me over. Edit: After reviewing the company further, I see that the person who came out to my house was actually the owner. My assumptions about the salary then are likely incorrect, and I can admit to that--Still doesn't justify making the most expensive option the only allegedly reasonable option. read more

I highly recommend Charity's. We had a slow leak from our primary bath tub faucet that quickly turned into a pretty substantial hot water leak. We heard about Charity's from a colleague of ours that had a similar problem and repair done. Charity was able to get us scheduled right away. You ever read some reviews and kinda wonder if they are real customers? I sometimes do , but let me tell you. The reviews on Charity's Plumbing are the real deal! I'm a first time home owner that has faced one thing after another as far as home repairs and after calling Charity , not only did she personally pick up the phone, she was quick to put my mind at ease. My downstairs toilet was not flushing and sewage was coming up from the tub. She assured me one of her guys would be out in just a few hours to take care of it. Rigo showed up , instantly diagnosed the problem and i was happily surprised to see Charity show up to assist! He had to snake the cleanOut valve in the front yard leading to the sewer. They found that my Tree had made its way into my pipes and were able to tear through all the roots clearing up the clogging. It's hard to find the right plumber to trust in your home. I hope this review helps you decide to trust Charity & Rigo. I live in Minnesota and was trying to find a plumber to help my daughter who recently moved to Phoenix. I looked at many different plumbers and their reviews. I even called a few different places, but when I talked to Rigo on the phone, I felt comfortable and assured. My daughter had a faulty toilet that would not stop running water. In Phoenix, that's a problem. Despite their busy schedule, Rigo was able to schedule an appointment for the next day. The next morning, Charity called to confirm the arrival. When I mentioned that it was my daughter all by herself, she offered to come with Rigo (her husband) just to help my daughter feel comfortable with this new experience of having a repair person come to her home.
