After they took a full set of x-rays, photos of all my teeth and other things MANY of which were both unnecessary and not covere. She and her business manager met with me. The teeth could not be saved. I needed to make an appointment with the surgeon from CT WHO DOESN'T take any insurance according to them needs to be paid in full in advance. TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE! Since I was in pain I paid and made an appointment. Upon arrival I was presented by a (3) page consent to treat form which listed 20 things that could go wrong. I said that I did not want to sign it. I was Told if I refused he would not treat me. I said,"When will I get a refund". I don't know I was told after all he came fromCT. I could not lose $1,242.00 so I signed. I later found he saw 20 patients that day. When they filled out the claim form they showed that they were not paid and kept my insurance reimbursement. BEWARE. I have been a patient of this office for 9 years and I cannot tell you how furious I am with them…read moreright now. When I first went to their office, I saw Dr Samuels (who no longer works at this practice). She, after an exam, gave me two options for treatment: bonding my two teeth causing me an issue or have 2 implants placed. She convinced me that if I didn't have the surgery, there was a strong likelihood that I would not only lose those two teeth but that I might lose others in the process. I was terrified and agreed to the implants. I was told that day that it was $1,600 a tooth for implants. Great. I agreed. She sent me to another doctor to have the posts placed and I would have to return in 6-8 months to have the crowns placed. NO WHERE DID SHE STATE THAT THESE WERE TWO DIFFERENT SITUATIONS AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A SECOND FEE. I had the posts placed and paid my $3,200 fee. When I returned 8 months later, I was told it would be ANOTHER $1,600 a tooth. Are you kidding?! Unfortunately, I was financially strapped and I couldn't afford another $3,200 to complete the crowns at that time. Fast forward about 3.5 years...I finally have the $3,200 she needed to complete my crowns and now she no longer practices at the office. Dr Handleman took over my case and did an exam. He states at THAT time that he can't do my implants because "your teeth are too twisted" and sent me to an orthodontist. Now...on top of the $3,200 I've already paid AND the additional $3,200 I was expected to pay for the teeth, I had to pay nearly $4,000 for braces. I had to wait almost 2.5 years for my teeth to straighten out and to save the $3,200 YET AGAIN to have the crowns made. So. That brings us to today's epic disaster of a situation. I made an appointment 2 weeks ago to have the first appointment for my crowns. I asked the secretary to confirm the cost so that I could have the money at the appointment and she stated she would call me back in a day or so when she talked to the doctor. I never got a call. I called this morning, about an hour and a half prior to my appointment to ask about the cost and if I should stop at the orthodontist office to have my wire removed for the appointment. She says "I wish you would've told me you had braces". I've been a patient there for 9 years. I have a chart. I've been there in the last 6 months for a cleaning and xrays. SURELY IT IS IN MY CHART THAT I HAVE BRACES. I digress. She puts me on hold for about 10 minutes and comes back to tell me "it's $2,800 for the TOOTH." I reply "it's TEETH. I am getting TWO TEETH DONE." She says "oh. Well you didn't tell me that either." *****WHAATTTT IIIIIII HAAAVVVEEE AAAAAA CCCCHHHHAAARRRRTTTTTT!!!!!!!!! LOOK AT THE CHART!!!!!****** I show up to the appointment because, at this point, I'm convinced that this girl hasn't a clue what is going on or she's too new to know anything and it is confirmed by Dr Handleman himself that he is now charging me $2,800 a tooth. After reminding him of my situation, he states "that's what I have always charged"....which is a lie because MY FATHER who I RECOMMENDED TO DR HANDLEMAN was charged $1,500 for his implant crown...to which I said enough was enough. I requested copies of my records and I am going elsewhere. This place is a nightmare and I will NEVER EVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE AGAIN. They don't deserve any new patients. HORRIBLE.

I've never had a cavity and a lot of the reviews for dentists seemed like they wanted to rush into all of this dental work. I was calling around to many offices getting so much attitude and lack of care for my pain - no one could allegedly see me for more than 3 months, even in an emergency. Frustrated, I finally found doctor freedman! His receptionists were the ONLY ones I spoke to over the phone who had an ounce of compassion and although they couldn't get me in asap, they put me on the emergency call list which happened to get me in the next day due to a cancellation. When I got there the process was seamless - quick check in and wait time and incredibly pleasant staff from the front desk to the X-ray tech to the doctor himself. Doctor freedman was incredibly honest, I came in thinking I needed an emergency root canal because of a cavity so he could have totally swindled me and recommended all of this work and I would have believed him. Instead, he said in a calm manner that everything is fine and he could refer me to an orthodontic surgery if I wanted but it wasn't necessary. The pain has mostly subsided but I wanted to see a professional just to be sure. Definitely recommend for an honest and experienced professional!
