My experience was not from Dr Virden himself but it was with his "Thereapellets" a.k.a. "Bioidentical Hormones". While they did originally bring me a great deal of relief from menopause, what they've caused in my body has turned in to a complete nightmare. I have been a patient in his office for over 2 years, paying $350 out of pocket for every dose of hormones I received. In the beginning, I felt great, but I have been chasing that feeling unsuccessfully for many months now. What they've caused is for me, at 54 years of age, is to end up with fibroids (muscular tumors) in/on my uterus. These fibroids, combined in size, are bigger than my actual uterus and have been causing me major issues with my bladder, horrible back pain and post menopausal bleeding. I came to find out that women my age do not get fibroids & that they were caused by the estrogen in the pellets. The last time I was in his office the woman who puts the pellets in decided to only use the testosterone pellet because of all of the problems with the post menopausal bleeding I had been experiencing. I literally bled every day for over 2 months! Now, having too much testosterone in my body has caused me to have HORRIBLE ACNE on my face, neck, chest & back, unlike anything I've ever experienced in my life! I have also gained THIRTEEN POUNDS with no dietary changes and am now having strange irregular heartbeats. I am going to have to have the fibroids surgically removed in the near future and my health insurance only covers 40% of the procedure. I am the proof of what can happen to someone after using these Therapellets and let me tell you, this has been a HORRIFIC nightmare to have to go through. And it's not over yet. And to think I was paying $350 every 3 months of my hard earned money to end up like this makes me sick. I purchased Botox through one of his holiday specials for a gift. The person was unable to use it so I asked if they could honor it for me in the future as I had just given birth and was breastfeeding. After waiting on a long hold I was told the office manager would call me, she never did. I called again and again and was finally told that there was nothing they could do. $500 down the drain! I'm the one that posted the hideous photos of the breasts. Yep, those are mine, care of yours truly, Charles P. Virden. He doesn't like women to say mean things about him-bad things happen to them; for instance once I ended up in the hospital and WOULDN'T see him, it was interesting how the minute I got to my room every nurse was mean and cruel, and I found out the reason was that they said I was a drug-seeker. His little friend, Dr. Amy Barratt, the ex-cop fired from police work was a perfect stooge to set me up! Problem was, they didn't know me; I hadn't been to Saint Mary's "seeking drugs"...I had no history with that hospital for that behavior, so where would they have gotten that idea? Was somebody butt-hurt because I called him an "asshole" in front of his peers? Must explain the text I got from him telling me I was passive/aggressive, that the "superficial" skin infection I had was "common", and my result was "high quality". You be the judge, eh? I guess it was also common to be on weeks of IV antibiotics through a pic line in my artery to my heart and 4 months of oral antibiotics. Oh, and the Saint Mary's nurses I had while in isolation those days on 6-2-14 thru 6-4-14? I guess not ONE of them could determine OBVIOUS pain from faking-while I was BEGGING for relief. They ALL just followed their scripts to almost, ALMOST destroy the life of a former outgoing, happy self-confident woman...who now struggles with severe PTSD. Imagine going to your hospital for help to treat severe pain and then being told that you're faking it while also being held in isolation with possible MRSA. As it turned out I only had cellulitis, a very painful staph/streptococcus infection that only kills 200K a year in the US. Ha. And imagine that your DOCTORS ego is so HUGE that he needs to annihilate anyone that would actually dare to challenge him, much less refuse to see him in a hospital setting because, well, you read it above. The damage he and his tank of sharks did is far more than physical. They're ALL without moral compass', and the damage is still being addressed. I'm literally warning any person that thinks they have any intention of doing anything other than what HE wants to RUN AWAY! I'm no longer afraid of any of them. I had a breast lift and my implants replaced. My breasts look HORRIBLE! It's been four months and the scars have healed pretty well but the way he cut, the placement of the incisions, and the placement of my breasts is so ugly and wrong I cried almost every day for the first two months. The doctor said I needed to give it more time and push my breasts down and over several times a day to try to get the breasts to sit in the correct position. I've tried and really worked to do that, but my breast are still too high and over too far to the sides. I push them together, and hold for a minute, many times a day, but my implants are still halfway under my armpits. I'm beyond disappointed. I've had much interaction with the medical community in my (long) life, both from my family (father was a physician) and a number of surgical procedures I've had done throughout the years. Never have I come across a better practice than that of Dr. Charles Virden. He did an excellent job for me, was very fair and thorough, and never took any "short cuts". I have had no work done by him. However, my WIFE needed her thighs and stomach worked on after she lost over 120 pounds after a gastric bypass. My wife saw three plastic surgeons before deciding to go with Dr. Virden. One was a female who just did not inspire confidence. One wanted to do the surgery in a hospital, adding over $10,000 to the bill. Dr. Virden did inspire confidence and does his work in an outpatient surgery center which made it so we could afford the surgery. The surgery went as explained and when she had problems with a few stitches after surgery, he was willing to see her immediately, even once on Saturday. The follow up care was excellent. Dr. Virden performed three procedures on me Aug. 2010 (eyes, breasts and skin tightening on my stomach). I believed him when he told me "my eye shape would not change, I would have the same level of feeling in my breasts and the scar on my stomach would be just above my pubic area" - In truth my eyes are round, the ONLY feeling I have left in my breasts is pain and he ruined my stomach. When I spoke to a woman that works for him, all she said was to come back in and have him look at everything. Really???? This was and still is horrible. I have had another plastic surgeon look at everything and he said he could only fix 50% to 60% of what Dr. Virden ruined. This has been a nightmare. Time to update my review! 14 years later. The past 14 years, with my implants have been amazing. They held up great - even through two pregnancies (and breast feeding - yes, he was extremely careful when placing the implants, to allow me to do this). I received so many compliments about how natural they looked. Well, fast forward...it was time for me to get them out. (They don't last forever!) About two months ago, I had my explant surgery. Dr. Virden removes the implants via En Bloc (where the capsules are removed, intact, with the implants inside). This is a very difficult procedure to perform, and he is the only surgeon in Northern Nevada that does this procedure. Not only did the explant go great, he assured me I wouldn't need a lift and I would be happy with the results. Who does that? I mean, seriously, don't doctors want to make that extra money? Well, Dr. Virden doesn't! He truly cares about his patients and won't perform unnecessary procedures. I am so happy that I listened to him. I couldn't be happier with my results. He is a fabulous surgeon. Throughout my whole explant, his staff (and him) treated me like family. His receptionist always greeted me by my first name, the second I would walk in the door. I recently had my 19 year old breast implants removed and replaced by Dr. Virden. My old implants were way to big for my body. They had given me neck and back issues. I could not wear a sports bra due to the weight of holding them up. They were a round implant that was over the muscle. Over the 19 years they had stretched my skin so that it sagged. For 19 years I have tried to cover up my overly large round breast. Nothing ever fit correctly. Not a bathing suit, a cute shirt, dresses, bra's, nothing. My children were always embarrassed by the size and how I looked in a swimsuit. I had to have implants removed, a lift and new implants placed under the muscle. I chose Dr. Virden as I felt he had the experience and expertise for this extremely tough repair job. I had seen his work from many of my doctor's wives. The all looked amazing. The minute I got to see my new breast Dr. Virden had given me, I cried (I don't cry.. ever). Finally, they were beautiful, they look like real breasts and they fit my body size. They were where they were supposed to be, they are cute and perky. They look like when I was 16yrs old. And in a bathing suit, OMG amazing!!! I knew I loved them but when I went to a high school baseball game and walked up to my son, he just looked at me and said, "mom you look normal, you look amazing". Dr. Virden has me given me back life, my smile, the way I carry myself and my confidence. I thank Dr. Virden from the bottom of my heart for making me me again. I'm a breast cancer survivor and had Dr Virden remove my reconstruction because I had breast implant illness. I was very sick, and could barely leave the house. He seemed great when I interviewed him (I went to two others for a consultation). He was funny and kind, and believed me that I was sick. I told him several time that I wanted to keep the implants after they came out, and he agreed. When I was in the recovery room after surgery, my worried husband asked how I was. Dr. Virden made a crude, insensitive joke about me being flat now (as I'd had a double mastectomy). He also threw my implants in the trash, and was very defensive about it when I asked him for them. He didn't put drains in after the surgery, so a week later my chest had filled with fluid and it looked like I had breasts again. I was confused. When I went to see him for my postop, he again made horrible jokes about my chest, to my face this time. He then announced that he was going to have to put drains in while I was awake and manually empty my chest. After it was done, I was lying on my back on the table in his office crying. He jovially slaps his hand down on my newly drained breast and says, 'NOW you're flat!'. It was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life, and I've had cancer. Really feel bad about writing anything bad about anyone but I had a bad experience with Doctor Charles Virden and I don't want anyone else to experience this. In 1996 I had laser surgery done on my face because I felt I had a lot of wrinkles. I thought the surgery would take away the wrinkles and make me feel more youthful. The surgery was in January and the wrinkles were gone. Sadly though I was left with 6 really big scars on my face. Three on each cheek. The biggest is an inch by 1/16. It may not sound big but when you consider how small the face actually is. An inch at any width is very noticeable. Anyhow,I have to wear makeup every day to cover the scars. When I called Dr Charles Virden to discuss my concerns he told me to wait a year. So I did. It has been 5 years and the scars are still very noticeable. Dr Virden also preformed a cheek pad lift and that was very successful but wouldn't advise anyone to take the risk. read more

Dr. Virden did an excellent job on my Breast Aug Exchange. Originally I got my first ones in the Bay Area 11 years ago. I wanted to go bigger to fill the post baby sag. Dr. Virden stayed true to his word on going as big as possible keeping a natural look and avoiding any health problems in the future. Because of my small frame he came up with a great game plan of the teardrop (not commonly used by surgeons) and 'serrating' the inside bottom of my Breasts so that the big size would expand making them lay naturally and not high. None of the other surgeons mentioned this. Dr. V was more expensive than the other quotes I got, but he provided personalized custom work. The other surgeons never came up with a game plan to achieve the look I wanted. I was able to text any issues, questions, or problems directly to Dr. V post surgery. This comes in handy when your a perfectionist and OCD like me. I'm so glad I went with Dr. V as I feel that you get what you pay for, and he is truly the best.
