I have been investing with schwab for almost 30 years. In all that time I have only needed 1 to 1 contact with an advisor 3 times. All 3 were extremely helpful and satisfactory. This last time it was to make financial decisions regarding my impending retirement in a few years and putting everything in place for that time. I had several appointments with Biscain Mora. A very competent and helpful advisor. He listened to all my concerns about my current accounts and together we planned the path forward to best meet my retirement financial goals. I'm very pleased with the decisions he helped guide through. I very happy to be a schwab client. I highly recommend this financial service company. read more

Existing customer for 3 years. Called in and spoke with Ayezah regarding opening a second account. Promised to get back to me. Waited a week, no response. Called in and left message. Another week, left message. Never heard again. Contacted Customer Service, who got back to me and said Ayezah was sorry. Truly pathetic! read more

Do not go to this branch. I went in yesterday to get some assistance transferring my 401k to them, when I asked if we could call my institution the older woman at the reception desk said they won't talk to me, you need to call them yourself. She was rude and NOT helpful at all, one of those who works harder to avoid work, perhaps? This was unlike any experience I've ever had with Charles Schwab. This woman should NOT be at the front desk supposedly greeting and helping clients. What this woman didn't know, is I used to work there and they make 3 way calls all of the time to transfer funds between financial institutions. I went home after paying to park no less and called their 800 number and set up the transfer with Schwab's assistance. The woman should NOT have her job! She tarnishes the good name of Charles Schwab!!! read more

I walked in to the Santa Rosa Office to find out how to add a power of attorney to my brother's account. The receptionist had an advisor come out to the lobby and he questioned me in front of another customer. I was embarrassed and quite frankly shocked at his unprofessionalism. He then told me that they don't take a walk ins but that he could make an appointment for me. I told him no thank you and that I would visit the branch where my brother's account was established. The fact that I was a woman might have been part of his dismissive attitude. I have since learned that the Santa Rosa branch does not have any women financial advisors. It is 2018! I made an appointment with a woman in the Oakland office, who was incredibly helpful and professional! read more

I inherited stocks after my Dad died that were managed by Charles Schwab and my 2 daughters also inherited them. Our daughter who took care of my Dad lives closest to the Napa office about an hour away. The Napa Financial Adviser for our account called me on the phone and was very friendly and wanted to come all the way to our home in Santa Rosa to introduce himself and stay the advisor for my account like he is for our 2 daughters who had visited the office in person after my Dad died to sign papers. I said it was more convenient for me to work with the Santa Rosa branch and walked in to have appointment with one of their advisors. He was pleasant enough but when tried to call him over a year later about adding money to my account, he wouldn't return my call. My husband and I decided to move his traditional IRA from Fidelity to Schwab since had been losing money in most of the Fidelity Mutual Funds and his financial advisor wouldn't even let our calls go through to him. Everyone I talked to on the phone with Schwab in their Denver office was very helpful and professional, but what they stated in emails after phone conversations turned out not to be true. First an application to open and move my husband's IRA was emailed to download with a mailing address or said to take into the Santa Rosa Office. We took it in because taking a check to add to my account, and we wanted to make sure had all the correct information on the application. The woman who runs the front office, first said, it was an old application - it had been sent by email only a few days before. Then she said a page was missing. I accidently left at home the one page that requires only that one box not checked if agreed to online communication. First she said we would have to take the whole application back home to get the missing page - about a 30 minute drive and inconvenient. Then she printed the page and was able to accept the application. I help manage my husband's IRA account since we are seniors with health conditions. Schwab emailed a Power of Attorney form and said had to be notarized and just take to a Schwab office to have done. After making another inconvenient trip to the downtown office was told that we had to make an appointment to have notarized. While there I asked for a mailing envelope since we have a notary who comes to our home. The envelope wasn't even long enough to hold one sheet of paper without bending the ends and couldn't hold the 8 sheets of the Power of Attorney doc at all. The last visit to Schwab there was a pleasant young man also helping us at the front desk who wasn't there before. There are many financial advisor individual small offices in back but the last 2 visits there hasn't been one other client there in the front or back besides us and only a few of the individual offices were occupied. I wish now I would have stayed with the Napa advisor, a very friendly mature aged man who is always available on the phone when our daughters call to make withdrawals. He seems to be the only Schwab mature aged advisor and all the phone reps sound like young men also. Nothing against young men at all but wondering reason why. Also wondering how long the downtown Santa Rosa office is going to remain profitable. read more

This is not about a particular branch. This is about my overall Charles Schwab experience. If there was an online/telephone choice, I'd leave my review on that. I had an account for a year with Charles Schwab. I specifically asked to be able to do options trading. I am a bit of a conservative trader so it was a year later that I decided to buy stock options for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Low and behold, my account was at a level that didn't allow me to trade standard call and put options. Schwab has 4 different levels and my approval level didn't give me the ability to. I was told by multiple reps that I needed to fax in a new application with the higher level request. I didn't have access to a fax. On my own a couple days later, I discovered I could do this online. I requested the higher options level (for what* should* be allowed on a basic options account) kept calling every couple of days with each rep saying "it's in review but I will expedite it; it takes about 2 days". A week later I get an email survey so I put down my dissatisfaction. I get a call and I am finally approved for the level I was seeking, with an apology, and a choice between free trades and $50.. A few weeks later, last night, I decided to do an option trade. I am told I was not approved for that level and never was. I sent an email showing I was approved. Then I am told "you were approved but downgraded 2 days later". WHOA!!!! This is now 2 out of 2 times Schwab has tied my hands on a very time sensitive trade! I was told it was because of my dissatisfaction. Note, I was in Northern California and was dealing with the famous fire over here for a week so I was not "peaches and cream" during the first attempt to trade options. I was told it was "very unfortunate that happened to you but because of it you are going to be 'punished' for 6 months, when you call ask for a review again." Holy smokes! If they want to punish me for being upset, fine. But the fact that my account was downgraded a 2nd time and NO HEADS UP was given to let me know is just unbelievable. Imagine thinking you are set up to trade time sensitive options and to learn that your account was downgraded and you were never informed. That is NOT RIGHT!! Unless you are a perhaps a millionaire, you and your money means nothing to them. read more

I went in after calling and talking with the call center. They told me that they can sell my stock certificates. When I got there I explained what the call center told me to do. She wanted to have nothing to do with me. She said they don't deal with stock certificates,only compushare stock accounts. Then tried to tell me how much it would cost like I couldn't afford it. Good by ass. Went to scotttrade and they took care of me ,no problem. read more
