I have thin hair and a scalp condition that causes some of this. The stylist suggested a few hair extensions might help. She said that they are easy to take care of and to wash and style my hair just like I always did but to use a soft brush. I wanted to buy one but she said I didn't need to. She had cut and highlighted my hair a couple times in the past and did a good job. My only complaint would be that she was easily distracted by other staff while she was doing my hair. She is an experienced stylist who charges $100 for a haircut. After about a month or so, I decided to have the extensions removed. I washed and dried my hair like I usually do but the extensions tangled and I could not get a brush through them and I needed a highlight. When I sat down she looked at my hair and started to scold me Like I was a child. She said the hair around the extensions had matted and continued to condescend to me and mock me as she started literally ripping them from my scalp with a rat tail comb, pulling my hair out by the roots in clumps. I watched the clumps fall on the black cover. This was so incredibly painful and she was well aware. I endured it because I knew they had to come out. The whole time she worked on my hair, she took phone calls and returned texts. She finally got them out and proceeded with my highlight continuing to text with her son about some event they were planning. My hair was processing and she left me in the chair so long (much longer than necessary) I had to ask the receptionist to ask Lisa if she had forgotten about me. During the cut, I asked her not to cut into the sides but she did it anyway. I couldn't wait to get out of there. This just went from bad to worse but I wanted it to be done. It's not as if I could have stopped the process halfway. I certainly won't go back. I've never experienced anything like this. read more

Had a consult yesterday from this highly rated salon after driving 45 minutes. What we will do for hair! :) Made the drive again this AM for 9:45 appt. Unfortunately, 5 cars ahead of me hit two deer running across the road, causing an accident and so I called salon to tell them I was running a little late, but in the way. 10 minutes I figured. Didn't give them the whole story. Receptionist said, she'd call if it was a problem. No call. Proceeded to drive, I walk in the door at 10am, precisely 15 minutes after scheduled time. They said I'd have to reschedule as hair stylist had another client directly after me. I asked if they could just do the highlights and forget the trim. Guess not. She went to ask the stylist, but didn't even know where her booth was, obviously she's new. I could rebook? Um, yeah no. So I drove home. There wasn't anything I could do. A proper receptionist should had mentioned they had a booking so close to mine when I was on the phone, and not have had me drive so far. So... I went and had a piece of cake nearby. I walked in and met with Tara. Tara told me she did not feel comfortable rushing through the haircut because she only had 30 minutes and so I would need to come back later in the day. I came back four hours later and met with Molly. Molly was confident and did a pretty great job chopping my hair off. I haven't washed it yet, but I am happy with the initial results. Thank you, Molly! I dropped a star because of the inconvenience of having to come back, and another star because my haircut was $57 which I just think is too much. I would give Molly five stars. A week ago I went and got a white shellac manicure. The white color the nail tech was using was running out as she worked on my nails but it seemed enough to get by. It's when she did the last coat that I knew it would be bad. The top coat was nearly empty, the brush kept leaving hairs on my nails that she continually had to pick out and you could see she wasn't protecting the tips of the polish enough. Less than a week later the tips of the nails is wearing off and they are literally dirty. Not the perfect way to look at a destination wedding. The nail tech seemed less than enthused to even be doing my nails that day, in no hurry to go back. read more

After years of telling myself "I'll get a massage soon" I finally did. I scoured just about every yoga studio, spa, salon, and whathaveyou to find a place to get my first massage. I chose Charles Scott in Rocky River. - it wasn't far from home but seemed to be a sophisticated establishment with fair pricing. I called to set it up and I was able to get squared away pretty quickly with a friendly staff member. I had my appointment with Aisha - a 60 minute relaxation. I felt totally at ease the whole time - I lost all sense of time and just relaxed and had my body restored to a level of comfort and relaxation I can't ever remember feeling. I walked out completely languid with the biggest smile I've ever worn and a fondness for this spa. read more

Charles Scott is my go to salon. Laine has been doing my hair (along with my moms, sisters, aunts, and a few cousins) for the past 10 years! We love her. I currently live in DC and always make it a priority to see her when I come back to town. I've gone from very long to very short to long again and Laine handles it all - along with color! In addition the salon itself is always clean and welcoming. I have never had any of the spa treatments so I can't comment on any of them here. read more

My Mom, Chris, has struggled and dreaded getting her hair done for YEARS! She's always unhappy with the color, the cut, her grays and most of all, the brassy orange that shortly follows. She finally made a trip into this salon and made an appointment with Lizmarie Rosa and she was the BEST! She matched her hair perfectly and gave her full highlights to transition her to gray. I booked a massage, 1 1/2 hours, at the Rocky River location. I haven't been there in a few years because the quality has become inconsistent. This time, the massage therapist was excellent, but unfortunately there was a manicurist in the space immediately adjacent to the massage room that I was in. My therapist had asked her to keep her voice down, but that essentially went ignored and she spoke at full volume, sometimes almost yelling; my therapist turned up the volume of the music, which did help drown it out a bit. Luckily, the manicurist eventually finished so I got to enjoy the rest of the massage in peace, as it should be. As I checked out, I did make a polite complaint with the woman at the desk who I believe was the manager. She did apologize but there was no offer to rectify the situation in anyway. I understand the social distancing Requirements made them spread out their services to other areas, that normally wouldn't be there. However, every other salon/spa that I've been to has managed to keep the volume down in the massage areas By having a "quiet zone".. Unfortunately, Charles Scott has not managed to do so although it looks like it would really be quite easy. Because of this, I won't be returning for massage there until after the pandemic. read more

There is no one like Claudia! I moved to Cleveland and started having trouble with my skin breakouts, redness, dryness and hyper pigmentation. I went in thinking it will be the typical facial and it was anything but.  She is knowledgable when it comes to what kind of treatment your skin need and how to treat it.  She talked me through things like diet, exercise, stress levels, etc. to help me figure out why my skin was a bit of a mess. After a few treatment's and a new skin care regiment the hyperpigmentation went away. I always leave with glowing happy skin I Can't say enough great things. read more

I would not trust this salon to groom my dog. I like his hair coat too much to lose it. My hair was 24 inches long for 5 years until I had it colored by Tracy at Charles Scott salon and it proceeded to then fall out entirely. Upon reporting this to the salon manager, the salon not only refused to ever take full responsibility for it, I did not even get so much as an apology. I was told it would be looked into immediately, and never heard from her again. They were totally unprofessional and brushed it off when a mistake was made on their part. I don't think I've ever reviewed anything before, but having left without any services, just feel this one needs to be mentioned. Made a hair appointment two weeks ago, specifying I would like two French braids. When I get there, the lady about to do my hair says "I don't really know how to braid, but I can try." So let me get this straight, I pay $75 for an "up-do" plus tip, for you to try to braid my hair. May I mention, I can braid my own hair, but wanted to treat myself, for an upcoming vacation. I've been seeing Tina now for about two years after having a stylist of over 8 years doing my hair. She's the absolute best. I'm pretty adventurous when it comes to cut and color and Tina has been able to not only help me change my hair up every few months, but also keep it extremely healthy in the process. She's always giving advice and offering up products that will help to keep my hair healthy and in the best shape possible. I've also been going to her for up-dos and styles for special events and I have never been disappointed. The best part? She truly listens and understands but will always advise her clients - something that has been a huge help for me, personally. She's always on time and beyond fun to hang out with for the hour or two while you are getting your hair done. Because of the service, I've started to go to Charles Scott for all of my services (spa treatments, waxing, etc.) and all of the people that I've seen have been helpful and extremely professional. I had been going to the to the same salon for about 10-ish years and the last couple times I had not been very impressed by any means. I would even drive over an hour (each way) just to get a cut and color for it to simply wash out in the shower within days. I then decided to do some research to find a good salon that was more local. My research led me to this salon. As somewhat of a back story, I had gotten my hair cut and colored (from the other salon) and it was a mess. At first, it looked great, I seemed happy but as days went on it was like I already needed my hair redone completely! Not too thrilled about that because I was wasting so much money and time. So I called Charles Scott in a panic because the holidays were coming up and my hair just wasn't working. The receptionist was EXTREMELY helpful, I wish I had gotten her name. She was even able to fit me in right before Christmas with Janet. I arrived at my appointment about 15 minutes early, greeted with snacks and drinks, checked in, and met my new stylist, Janet. She was so great throughout my appointment. She listened to what I had to say, my concerns, and I overall felt comfortable asking questions and just talking in general. Janet helped fix my color, we added some layers, as well as more bangs. I loved it (and still do!) My favorite part of the entire experience is that Janet did such a fab job that I am able to go home and duplicate my hair just like when I had it done initially. I know many times, once you leave the salon you are never able to do your hair the way the stylist had it and it becomes frustrating. But not this time. As I was leaving, check out did that quite some time, but I wasn't in any hurry. I was also given a new customer gift bag that had a survey, coupons for future use, and a sample of Wella's Enrich Shampoo and Conditioner. Some of these reviews left me compelled to inform you that although its a bit pricey its definitely worth it if you have the right stylist! If you want great service and a stylist who actually takes the time to understand what you want and what reality will allow and helps you find a happy ending Tina is the person to see! Although due to popularity it is definitely best to schedule well in advance its well worth the wait! Unfortunately I am the worst so when she finally does see me I am a hot mess and in a matter of an appointment she makes me feel my best. My color last an over exceptional amount of time, I don't know how she does it but it's way longer than any salon/stylist I have seen in the past. She takes the time to make sure you are happy with everything including asking you questions for that near perfect cut. I have seen many different stylists in Cleveland and haven't had a great haircut since shortly after high school when my stylist on the east side moved to North Carolina. However, today, I went to Charles Scott for the first time and had a great experience! I called in on Monday or Tuesday for an appointment with Tina and I could have gone in as early as Thursday, but due to my work schedule, I was able to make an appointment that fit my schedule today. As soon as I walked in, I checked in and was greeted by Tina immediately. She took me back and took a look at my hair. She asked me what my typical hair routine was like and what I liked and disliked about my hair and what I would change about it if I could. After we talked about what I wanted and she had an idea about what would work in my hair, she took me back and shampooed and conditioned my hair, then started cutting. She talked me through what she was doing and was very chatty. I am so thrilled with my hair. She showed me the products that she had used and I didn't feel any pressure to buy them. I started getting my brows waxed by Claudia at Charles Scott in Rocky River when I was 16 years old. I'm 28 now and since then, I've lived in 4 different cities including New York and Baltimore and I can quite honestly say that Claudia is the best around. I have a hard time letting anyone else touch my brows because she's that good. I have very dark, thick brows and she is able to tame them in a way few can - not overly trimmed or plucked - just the right amount to make me feel manicured, put-together, and my very best. I always have a little spring in my step after seeing her, not only from her work but also from her kind and warm personality. To put it simply: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CLAUDIA FOR WAXING. I usually visit the Crocker Park location but decided to give the Rocky River location a try. I scheduled a facial wax which I've been getting for over 15 years with no issues. Claudia was running 15 minutes late for my appointment. She kept mentioning she had another client who last minute scheduled a full body wax. She proceeded to wax me very quickly when the wax wasn't warm enough. She ended up waxing off a layer of my skin leaving me with a bad burn across my bottom lip line. It's been three days and it still hasn't healed. Needless to say I will never return. read more

I have been a client of Charles Scott for a couple years now. I always used their spa and had at least a satisfactory experience. I needed a cut and color today. I called at noon to schedule and after an agonizing experience trying to schedule because I could barely understand their receptionist and she kept changing what she was saying, I booked two back to back appointments. I should have had an appointment from 5:45 for a color than 7:30 for a cut. After my hairstylist shows up at 6, she tells me she can't do my hair because what I am asking for isn't enough time. Number one: I told them when I scheduled what I wanted, the receptionist couldn't communicate that so my time was wasted. Number two: the hair stylist was late, not my fault. Number three: I have never been told by a hair stylist they can't do their job. I was on her schedule for over two hours and apparently they booked someone in between? Is my appointment less important than others? I have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars at this place and to be treated with such little respect is upsetting. Timing should not have been an issue because I was booked back to back with two appointments - it is not my fault they booked someone in between. Also, I had no idea what she was talking about. She kept trying to explain why she couldn't give me the color I wanted and it was making no sense. I don't think she was listening to me in general when I explained what I wanted and that she didn't need to "re-color" my root because that wasn't the color I wanted. Her apology was incredibly disingenuous. She didn't really offer any other options besides a corrective color, which in my experience is expensive and probably would have cost another $100. I would expect more from this place for their prices. Incredibly unprofessional experience and I will not longer be giving them my business. read more

I have gone here to the same lady for a good many years now. I really like this place and recently it has been given a facelift. There are new floors, new chairs, new lighting and a newly designed waiting room. The stylist I go to is very nice and a good friend. The business itself has good policies - I've never had an issue. My only complaint is that I always seem to get put on hold every time I call. Thankfully now there is an online reservation system - however you must prepay when booking online so if you have to change your appointment you would then have to call in the change. read more

So I am a constant customer of this place and have been going there for a couple of years now... specifically for brazilian waxing. It is not easy to find someone that actually knows what they are doing down there. I have been with about 4 of the "waxing" professional and all of them do a great job. There are two reasons why I give them just 4 stars: though the service is good, they are a bit pricey and....I decided to get my hair cut and styled and dyed for my 30th birthday party. Since it is so nice inside and the cost... you are going to get a great hair cut, right? Dye was perfect. But the cut was not even close to what I wanted. I think my stylist only worked on old white people hair (FYI i happen to have asian hair). But one bad experience does not mean everyone is bad. With respect to the facility, Its always clean and professionaI. I like the fact that I usually can get an appointment on the day that I call but I do agree with Ben's remark about always being put on hold. Parking can be a problem if it is a busy day since they share parking with so many other businesses. read more

Came back to get my haircut here again and the experience was way better. The manager helped me find someone who would be a good fit for what i was looking for and im glad she did. The location of this store is great and it has a great atmosphere so i am happy that i found a good stylist now! My cut looks great and it was well styled when I left, which is half the fun of a haircut. I appreciate the manager reaching out to me and asking me to give them another chance.
