We highly recommend his service. **Something we just learned was that all of our family photos came with a "unedited" watermark unlike wedding and event photos. You are allotted 10 photos to have edited (included w. your fee) but every additional photo will have to be edited and comes with an additional cost. For example if you have 30 photos altogether, you picked your top ten you'd like to have edited and want the other 20 for your photo album, you will have to pay for those photos without the watermark. We still recommend his services but it could turn into a $1000 expense if you like all of your photos like we did.

This was due to the large number of folks who signed up for each of his free class but failed to show up. There are a lot of flaky peeps out there who take up spots in class while others who really want to come to class and learn are put on the waiting list and do not get to come to the class. Charging a small $10 fee ensures only those who are serious about learning comes. And judging from last night, it worked! It is definitely worth every penny we paid as every time I learn something new and it does not make sense that he does not charge as he has bills to pay and he needs to make a living!! Now the class size is much smaller; there were only 6 of us last night, and each of us got to ask more questions and get more individual attention. Another great lesson on how to effectively manage your work flows starting from your camera to the organization and file structures on your computer. Most of us in class use Light Room so he focused more time on that. Len is definitely a great teacher and I especially appreciate that he takes the time to explain using examples and to make sure you understand each concept, as opposed to just rushing through his course materials without knowing if the class is really learning. (This is in contrary to another class I took at another guy's photography workshops.) He does not rush and is quite patient if the class is not getting it. He'll explain even in more details and using more examples. A couple months ago I also took his lighting workshop and learned about the basics of using strobe and even got some equipment from him for real cheap. I do not understand the one star rating from someone on Yelp. If you look around everyone gives a 5-star rating. What she described about Len does not sound like him at all. She must have got it on a wrong date, or went to a wrong address, or whatever. Note that once you get to the location, the door is sometimes close especially in winter time as the studio is cold. You can just go ahead and open the door as it is unlocked when he has a class. Len is a very nice guy and he has been in the photography business for at least 20 years. He knows how to work with and serve clients so this negative review looks very fishy. Anyway I found out he is going to teach a 6-week series on Light Room in which you will learning every module including the developing module. This is what I am looking for so I am looking forward to taking the class soon.

Our engagement photo shoot was in Richmond at the local marina. Ever professional, Preston scouted the location prior to our appointment and really turned out some wonderful shots. We did a change of clothes and were finished with our shots in all of 45 mins (which was perfect for our busy schedules and my ADD). He turned around our finished shots in 2 weeks and they were perfect. We used them for everything: Holiday cards, save the date, wedding invitation (video montage), wedding website, you name it, we did it. We hired Preston for the full 8 hours on our wedding day. He was able to shoot both bride and groom before the wedding and even some family shots prior. The ceremony photos he posted on the blog were splendid. He even met with me and the wedding planner the week prior to the ceremony to scout the site and hash out details. I spent hours reviewing photographer's websites and Preston's was one that both myself and my husband could agree on. We knew at our first meeting with him in person that his photos were beautiful, his work was high quality, and that he would be easy to work with. He accommodated our far flung locations and drove all the way to Santa Cruz for our engagement session and then to Grass Valley for our wedding, both of which are pretty long trips for him. On the day of the wedding, Preston showed up early and worked hard the full 8 hours. Having never been married before I had not a clue how the whole process worked, but trust in Preston to know what to do. He got shots of us, the wedding party, and our family members prior to the ceremony. The man works fast! He also had time to get all the little details before the ceremony. Post-ceremony was a bit of a blur for me and most of the time I didn't even know he was there, but he was catching all of the main events for the evening. I know Preston had to deal with photography demands from our family and wedding party and handled them like a pro. He also tried to catch my misbehaving dogs on film which required a bit of patience.
