This is a small KOA that is a decent travel stop for a night or two if you're traveling through WV. Many of the sites are absurdly packed together and upon check in we ended up having to pay more money to upgrade to a different site because if we had tried to stay in the site they originally put us in we would have been touching the camper next to us or been mere inches away from them when we put our slides out. This is not an exaggeration. My husband and I walked around the park and from what we observed we suspect at one point many of the pull thru sites may have once been single sites split into two to maximize the park's potential profit. Nice for them but not great for the occupants. Dumpsters are located at the back of the campground which is inconvenient if you're staying in a site near the front. Although the pamphlet does say if "you're leaving in a rush" at the end of your stay you can leave your sealed up trash bag at the end of your site to be picked up. The sites are mostly level but the one we stayed in had that kind of minimal incline that cause you to roll forward just enough to make hitching up a pain. The "upgraded" sites with patios are a bit messy looking. In fact. many sites overlook a neighbor to the campground who appears to be a hoarder so that isn't the most pleasant view if you're vacationing. Although the campground can't control what the neighbor does on their property it would be nice if they invested in a fence along that side of the park to make it look tidier. On the positive side, they did have a couple of little ponds that look pretty well suited to some light recreational fishing but didn't look as appealing for swimming. They have lots of pull thru sites which is convenient for quick stopovers and they are located near a major highway (but be prepared for some road noise). It's also really nice that they're open year round. We didn't have a lot of interaction with the staff but when we did they were cordial. In summary, it's a decent campground that meets the basic needs of a traveler but I would use this more as a layover campground than a destination. Overall would probably rate it about 2.5 stars. 3 stars ranking it against a regular campground but only 2 stars comparing it to KOA's. read more

This is a very cramped campground. We are used to staying in state parks where you have a bit more privacy. We only have a 16ft camper and we were cramped. The weather was quite rainy and our pull through spot was a mud hole. Actually most of the campground was a mud hole. To get to the dog park you had to go through at least a foot of water. Someone even left animal poop (let's hope) in our postage size campsite. All in all, nope, never again. Great people, poor sites. read more

During our stay, 2 families with 2 separate campers pulled in after hours to the sites beside us. During their time there they were extremely loud and doing drugs, and leaving their kids' toys on our site. After one night with those people next to use we decided to leave one night earlier than our reservation. On the way out I filed a written complaint along with my phone number to the person at the front desk. This complaint was never passed on to the manager so a refund was never issued! I was under the impression from the person at the ground desk that this was going to be taken care of but it was never addressed read more

As long as you are prepared for the sharp turn to get in the campground and the hill , you can drive almost any size rig into the campground. We stayed at one of the camping cabins with a full bathroom. Spotlessly clean and outfitted with everything that we would need for our stay. I would totally stay here again and recommend that others do. The location of the cabin is pretty close to the road, but the noise didn't keep me awake. read more

Nice swimming and fishing ponds. The sites are packed together, that is why it isn't a 5 Star rating. Our site looked like it was the only one without grass outside the door. The showers and restrooms are nice. Nice dog walk area. They had a movie night on Saturday night. read more

Great overnight stay. We would've stayed longer if our schedule allowed. Long pullthru site was level with grass and gravel. Utilities in the middle. Great water pressure, we used a pressure regulator. Nice small dog park. Decent free wifi and great cable. Lots of activities. There are lots of longterm or permanent residents here. Office staff were so helpful. If coming from Exit 28, I-64 West, the entrance from Hwy 60 into Fox Fire Rd is a right 180 degree turn (very sharp right turn) so give yourself plenty of room. Great place to stay overnight or longer. read more

Just an overnight stop in a class A with toad. The entry to the park off Hwy 60 is a VERY sharp turn and a sudden drop too, go slow. Helpful staff guided us to our spot and spotted for best placement of hookups. Easy navigation and level space. Great water delivery and cable TV, WiFi ok. I-64 is right through the woods so a bit of traffic noise but not terrible. Didn't try showers or laundry. read more

I called for last-minute reservations for a one-night stay. The lady was extremely accommodating and placed us where we would have the least amount of road noise. Our spot was level, bathrooms, and laundry facilities spotless. read more

Really clean bath houses and very friendly owners! Stayed here overnight last night. Water pressure and internet coverage was really good. Nice level spots. Only drawback was the sites are very close together. For an overnight stay when the weather was 20 degrees at night, it was fine, but we wouldn't be comfy if the weather was warm and everyone was outside. read more

Our site was an absolute muddy mess. There was no pad left and even when the rain quit out fire pit was flooded and our chairs sank. We had to pay extra for two children wvwn though we just spent one night and used no amenities. Furthermore I had to pay extra to do the muddy laundry created from their swampy site. I spoke to the office and they were absolutely unwilling to make any concessions. A free wash or the extra back for the additional children would have went a long way, but their absolute apathy and lack of customer service was very frustrating. There are other area options when we travel this way and we won't choose this one again. read more

Disappointed. It's only one night so no big deal but campers parked what I would call 2 to a normal camp site. They are at your back end and next to you on both sides. Level site is the only plus. I also called because reservations indicated 50 amp we need 30. They assured me all sites had both. When we arrived the guy next to us had the 30 so we had to use dog bone from 50 amp. At $47 a night I've paid less for better. read more

We are traveling with a travel trailer 35 ft. The sites are close together but luckily wasn't crowded so we didn't feel cramped. Nice pond to swim and a nice playground for kids. Staff was friendly. The bathrooms were very clean and upgraded. Laundry room is small but equipment was nice. I would stay here again. read more

Every time we stay at Fox Fire KOA we have a wonderful time! The facilities are very nice and clean! We like to stay in the deluxe cabin and it is perfect for our small family with young children. There are always tons of fun activities and the staff couldn't be nicer. Highly recommend. read more

I called this Rv park 4 or 5 times trying to get a space for our Rv just about 3 weeks ago. I did the very same thing last year too. I was told I would need to speak to Mr. Andrews for a long term space. We needed it for at least a month. I left my name and number and called back and he was never available. The lady told me as soon as he got in to the office, he would call me back. Well it's June 23 and he never called me back. And like I said, we did the same thing last year. I guess he doesn't want our business. That's your last opportunity Mr. Andrews. And I am telling everyone why we weren't able to park our Rv there. read more

This KOA is by far the absolute BEST campground I have EVER been to. The staff is very friendly, there are many trees on site, they have a big lake with designated swimming and fishing areas, cabins with a small pond, and a store at the entrance where you check in, out, and can buy drinks, ice cream, shirts, candy- mostly everything a camper would need!! We arrived at KOA FOXFIRE Campgrounds August 1, 2017. We had reservations for three nights prepaid. The reservations were made for a pull thru. We were assigned site 42, the person who made the reservations told me it was a long pull through with a tree and fire pit. He assured me there was plenty of room for the slide out and the awning. When we were shown to the site by Tom, we pulled through and parked toward the front end where we were told and to park our truck behind the trailer. Which we did. The first night was fine. We got up the next morning and left early, when we returned in the evening site 38 which was to the back and front side of our trailer had been rented. There was two cars, truck, and a motorcycle parked behind our trailer in our spot. Directly behind our back end approximately 3ft away was a four post canopy with several chairs and 7 adults, 9 kids, toys and bikes covering the entire backend of our space and their #38 site. My husband pulled into the site next to us, I got out and told the people we were suppose to park there, that was our spot. They informed me otherwise. I called the front office to find out what to do, and finally I walked there to tell them about the situation. When I told them the two women said no that was our spot they would send someone over. A gentleman who said he was the owner came down and told us we could pull down in front of our trailer sideways in the yard, there was plenty of room as long as we were off the road and he left. I called back to the office to talk with him and he wasn't back. He later returned my call. I told him I was not happy with the situation, that we had paid for a pull through, which they had turned to a back in. He said well that is the way it is. I said this is not what you sold us, the map shows this is a pull through and I we were told to park in the back. He said well if I wasn't happy with it we could move. I said yeah we could move, but that wasn't what we were told and this was false advertising. He said what would make you happy. I told him to have the lot back that we paid for. He said well if you want to park behind your trailer so bad, then he could have them park in our yard, but he didn't think I would want that. By this time I was so upset I told him we would leave the next morning, which was our third day and we had already paid for, but I excepted a refund. He said when we had our trailer ready and hooked up and pulled in front of the office he would fix it. That evening the kids rode bikes and ran across our yard all evening. Well the next morning we weren't able to get things completed so we had to stay on. I informed them that we would not be leaving. The third morning we left and returned that evening. We went out to sit in front of our trailer, I was reading and my husband was relaxing--kids kept running across, riding bikes across and standing and staring at us (9 kids). Finally after about 20 minutes I walked over to the end of our trailer where they people were sitting under the canopy and said "Would you mind asking your children---that's all I got out. One of the women jumped up and said-- We know about you old people---come on kids leave the old people alone you know how they are. I went back and sit down to read, my husband went in. The woman got up turned on the outside stereo rather loud, I just gave up after about 10 minutes and went in. The next morning we had to move bikes and chairs off the back of our trailer in order to leave. This is the first and only time after 17 years of rving that we ever had our spot given away and we felt bullied and intimidated. This is poor management and I would never recommend this place. read more
