Hyman's Seafood Restaurant (terrific) gave us the phone numbers for Charleston Pedicab and another firm. They came within 10 minutes and it was not expensive - a trip of about a mile 1/2 for two persons was $11 (plus tip). The next day I took a similar trip, slightly longer but just myself and the cost was only $5.50. The free shuttle buses that transverse Charleston are great but stop running around 8:30pm, and if you are in a hurry this is the better way to go. A friendly warning...if you don't see any of the yellow shirts around (Charleston Bike Taxi) and you're forced to catch a ride with the blue shirts (Charleston Pedicab), make sure you have exact change. Especially if your driver is named Will. On a recent trip to upper King, he took our money into a local restaurant "to get change" and came back saying we were all set. Gave us no change and argued that we never paid him in the first place. Really?!! Our 20 was right there in his pocket. Told us when we needed a ride home after dinner to call him - at the fake number he gave us - and we'd be square. Enjoy the cash Will, clearly you need it more than we do. Lesson learned. I will continue to take the pedicabs in Charleston, but only if the driver is wearing yellow. read more

These actually are great. You just call the number and they send someone to pick you up (ordered two of them and waited 10-15 mins for each). Our peddler (not sure if that's what you call them), Ben, was super friendly, and the people we talked to on the phone also had great customer service. Both of the rides costed us $6/person. Totally got scammed. Taylor took me for an $8 quoted ride from downtown Charleston to the wharf. Claimed he had no change for a 20$ bill. Total bs. He ended up happily pocketing a 9.00$ tip by claiming he could only give me $3 because"that's all the change I have." We used Charleston Pedicab twice prior to tonight. We had Ali as our driver the first night and had a wonderful and informative ride. Tonight we went for a ride for our final night in Charleston. I feel that we got ripped off tonight. The ride was nothing special and it turned out to be a 50 minute ride costing $60. The other rides to the water took us 30 minutes and cost $36. Lesson learned is to make sure you come up with a plan on how long you will be out so you know in advance. read more

I asked for a ride from the Recovery Room to the Vendue. Google Maps says its a 12 min bike ride. Pedicap charges $5.50 for 10 minutes rides. I gave her $10, which should cover the 12 minutes ride, plus tip. Bike #23 barely got me 5 minutes down King street before dropping me off. Obviously looking for more people to pickup. I called to talk to Pedicab and the dispatch simply told me that I should be happy to give her a 4 dollar tip at 2am. Clearly missing the point, I'm happy to tip her if she fulfilled the service I paid her for first. And worse the dispatch simply dismisses it. I (and you) could just call Uber for less, and actually get where you needed to go. Waste of money!!! And terrible service. I would not recommend. read more

The driver didn't offer us change when we paid--- took more of our money than we intended to give and didn't even take us to our location. He informed us our location was around the corner and it was definitely a 1/2 mile away. I definitely would not recommend them. Got in a pedicab for a route we take once a week. It has ALWAYS been $9. When we got to our destination ED told us it was $ 18. because it took him over 10 min!! The fact was he took a scenic tour and we asked him twice if he knew where he was going. Will NEVER use Charleston Pedicab again; and no need as there are others. Too busy talking to each other/looking at their phones to explain that they were waiting for a large group who had already called in. We had tickets for Chris Botti after dinner last night. Our server suggested a Pedicab to avoid the walk or paid parking and said the restaurant would call for us after dinner. Our driver was Nick. He was waiting for us and did a great job getting us there. Very friendly, knowledgeable and a great personality. We asked about a return ride and he gave us a card to ask for him. Seems like this company has a problem with minorities. After calling a few times, they rode right past me and would not even stop after I told them I was the one that called. This happened multiple times. When they finally called to asked where I was I was, I told them that there riders went right past me. No apologies were given, the first time the excuse was, I didn't expect it to be you, then the second time she just did not respond when I said I tried to tell you it was me. the pedi-cab driver was very rude and seemed to be upset. she charged $11 for two people to drive just a couple blocks, but after i inquired about pricing to another pedicab and he told us the flat rate was $4.50/person. when we reached our destination i handed the girl a $20 and she said she didn't have change. when i walked into the bar to get change she approached me and said, "I don't fucking have time for this shit," and told demanded that i gave her the $20.
