I was interested in purchasing a used trailer from Kitt Trailers in Chilliwack, British Columbia…read more The price was $1,500.00. I looked into financing and I was informed that Kitt Trailers did their financing through Invicta Financial Inc which is out of Langley, British Columbia. However, Kitt called me back and told me that there was a minimum purchase of $2,500.00 for a loan. As a result, I added a brake system, spare tire, and a wheel lock which totalled over $2,600.00. This would satisfy the minimum purchase required for a loan. To begin with, I filled out an online form on the Kitt website. But I got word from Invicta that I had to fill out their application as well. Next, I noticed that Invicta wanted my Social Insurance Number on the application. I did not feel comfortable about supplying that information, but I filled it in. Then I received an email from Raymond to send a copy of my Driver's license to him. I complied. A few days passed when I was informed by Raymond at Invicta that my loan was approved, and he asked when I wanted to pick up the trailer. I said the first week in January 2019. Raymond added that all I needed to do was bring in my Driver's license, a void cheque, and that he would meet me at Kitt as I would have to sign a "lease agreement". I asked Raymond how long would it take to sign the lease agreement and he said about 5 minutes. Yesterday, I was to pick up the trailer when I got an email from Tony. Tony said in order to save time, I was to fill out a form and email it back to him. This was not a lease agreement, but a personal and family reference form. On this form, I was to provide additional information with friends and family names, addresses, and telephone numbers! I was shocked and very upset as I was told that my application was approved, so why did I have to provide this additional personal information after the fact? This should have been part of the application process, not after the application was approved. I felt that this was an unethical request after the fact, and I had decided to cancel the trailer loan. In all my life, I have not had this happen after a loan was approved. Shortly after I canceled the loan, I received a voice mail from Sean at Kitt Trailers wondering why I had canceled the loan as he had already installed the brakes on the trailer? I text Sean and explained to him why. Then I offered to put a $500.00 non-refundable deposit on the trailer and give him non-refundable equal payments over 11 months. The trailer would remain there until paid for. So far, I have not heard from Sean. Finally, I do not recommend Invicta for loans as they do not give the potential customer all the information up front. After the fact does not fly with me. Update: Sean from Kitt text me back today. He said that was how they did business. I will not deal with Kitt anymore as they do not put customers ahead of unethical financiers. That says a lot about Kitt as well.
