The service rep told me at the time of pickup that the new transmission and work was covered for 2 years. So 1 year and 6 months later I have a problem with a front wheel bearing and take it to the dealership. The wheel bearing and related items that they found were still covered under my extended warranty all with a 200.00 deductible. The service department calls me and says that I have to pay 1200.00 because the warranty company wont cover the leaking torque converter seal. No matter how I tried to explain to the service department this specific problem should be covered by the dealership, they provided several excuses blaming the extended warranty company. Service dept tells me the warranty company only covered 80% of the parts, but the warranty company said they paid 100%. Service department tells me then that the warranty company disagreed with the time it took to complete the work. When in fact the estimate the service dept sent me showed the exact same hours that the warranty company says was normal, however the dealership increased each job by 1 hour to cover the repair of the torque converter seal. No matter what common sense explanation I asked for, the service department came up with some excuse blaming the warranty company. The warranty company said all I was responsible for was the 200.00 deductible, but once they start the work I was at their mercy. All told and at the end, I was charged 898.00 for work that the dealership should have paid for. The funny thing is that the new service rep that the dealership had looked me straight in the face and told me everything was correct. I asked her how she could ethically and morally do this to people and I never received a response. I am still considering legal action against the dealership.

I had to go back a week later because my battery light had come back on. Because the old alternator was over charging, my battery had boiled over and was now bad. He was able to point me in the right direction to get my battery replaced under warranty as well!

Fortunately, Advance Auto Parts has just opened a new location near the old Haner's site, on Charlevoix Ave. The guys even put the batteries in for us! They said, "Why don't you go back inside where it's warm and I'll do this for you." Wow, what service! That's usual company policy. So the truck is back in action, and we're grateful to have had such great help. We keep going back when we need something else. Great place!

Show up for my service appointment on Wednesday and was told the tires hadn't arrived. Rescheduled for Thursday. Got a call Thursday noon still no tires. I am now officially done being jerked around by the dealership. Found Spies in a Google search, called, spoke with Joel and told him what I needed. By Friday at 1:26 (for 1:00 appointment) I had my new tires and the service was top notch. Even if you are a brand new customer they will treat as if you've been one for 20 years. I wish I had come to Spies from the start, but I KNOW where I will come in the future.

On vacation in the Charlevoix area, we experienced what no vacationer wants to experience: car…read moreproblems. Specifically, a flat tire. Bad luck. Good luck: this business was just a block away. We slowly drove our car into their very busy shop on a Thursday morning and were immediately greeted by two staff who left a project to help us. Within 10-minutes, they had our tire off and in a tub of water to find the leak. Because we had driven a while on a low tire, unknowingly, there was evidence of side wall damage. We dreaded a big bill and long wait. More good luck: a screw was retrieved, the pressure left in the tire was adequate to not ruin it and our hole was foxed within 15-minutes. The auto repair staff and office staff were all wonderful. They were reassuring, honest and made us feel at home. They could have easily put us at the back of the line (we are out of towners) or sold us an expensive new tire. We walked away with a $25 repair bill. They even let us keep our car on their property while we went to breakfast and explored downtown on bikes. You don't find business like this these days. Please give them your business and respect. Wish we lived closer. They would be our go-to for car repairs.
