Royal Tire is a place where the owner still answers the phone, they communicate with honesty, and provide great value for their service. I've trusted them with three different cars (Ford & Nissan makes) and thousands of dollars over the years, as has my family. Most recently, they swapped out my old snow tires for Nokian Solstice 4 all-season tires, on Eric's recommendation. The improvement was immediate and goes to show how great it is having local people who know what they're doing and want to help! My wife dropped in with tires bought from another store. They install them within the hour. I drop in five days later with my own tires. They refused to install them because the tires were not bought in their store. When I presented the situation above, Eric, the representative I was in contact with, provided me a nonsensical explanation that had nothing to do with the conversation at hand. This is not the first time I received mediocre service and customer support from them, but since it turns out to be not a one time thing, I figured I would warn others to search for alternatives. read more

I really do not know why I go anywhere else. I drive from Alba to Petoskey to see these guys, and they NEVER disappoint! I had my 2005 GMV Envoy looked at back in July by Belle Tire in Gaylord, and they quoted me at 850+ for tie rods, ball joints and an alignment. If I wanted them to do my bearings, too, it would have been upwards of 1200+. Luckily, the husband and I have recently educated ourselves on bearing and breaks (thank you, Youtube!) and did those ourselves, and in the process saved about $250 -300. But we had to put off the other work due to finances. So today, we finally got ol' Betsy in for the above work to Royal tire...and they are doing ALL of it, AND found that my water pump needed replacing, so the pump, too...for an estimate of a little over 900. Tie Rods, Alignment, Ball Joints and Water pump. Under a grand. To me, that is an amazing deal. I know of several other mechanics closer to home that would have charged me closer to 1500+ for the same work....and taken a week+ to do the work, leaving me stranded. Royal is doing this all in one day, by appointment. No muss, no fuss. And ALWAYS, the NICEST, MOST POLITE GUYS!!! I had figured that every mechanic came automatically with a sour disposition and horrible customer service skills...but not these guys. I was 35 minutes late due to slick roads and traffic. They took it in stride and understood. The front of the house fellow was Dwayne. My mechanic was Duane. Both of them were genuine, caring, thorough, and took the time to explain to me what was done. Both were complete gentlemen and the nicest guys I've met in the auto business to date. I will continue to bring my vehicles to these guys. They are the best, hands down, in a 100 mile radius, if not more. Oh, and BTW, my final price for all the work? Actually BELOW quote, for a total of only 823.00 !!!! read more

I was stranded on vacation with a dead mini van and no where to turn. I did a bit of research in the area I happened to be in at the time. Everyone I asked, told me that the guys at Royal Tire were great. Not knowing any better, I asked the RT folks to help me out. One of the guys brought a portable car charger to me and got my van enough power to get to their shop. They quickly repaired my vehicle and got me back on the road in less than a day. They had my car for days and when I got upset that they had it so long and couldn't figure out what was wrong with it, the guy Jim was rude and threatened to push my car out into the road. The older man Herb is also rude and impersonal. Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. I will tell everyone I know about my experience there. When I asked to speak to the owner I got the run around. I left my number and the owner never called me back. I would suggest they stick to tires instead of "trying" to fix cars, but I'm not sure they can even do that right. We bought our tires at Royal Tire and have been pleased with past service. Really nice guys. However, when we took the car in on Friday we were disappointed to see that they are not making any attempts to prevent the spread of COVID19. When I asked about masks, the response was, "We're social distancing." That was not true at the counter and, when I got back into the car after service, there was no indication that the steering wheel had been wiped down. We left feeling that we had just had our biggest exposure to the virus in the last several months. For the safety of your employees and your customers, please put protective measures in place. Until then, those considering service might want to use the other dealers in town that are making efforts to protect the health and safety of their customers. read more

Came in during a cross country road trip because I had felt the vehicle pulling left at several times during my multi-state drive. Their analysis concluded no need for an alignment -rather we tried a tire rotation. Seems like a very honest shop as they turned down an opportunity to make more money on something I did not need. read more

This place is terrible. Worst attitude ever from Eric. I came in with 4 new wheels and tired already mounted and balanced and TPMS already on from an outside retailer. He said he would swap them $5 a tire. Good price. I wait about 45 minutes and then he comes storming out of the back stating that was a "slap in the face" because he didn't sell me the tires. I explained to him that I was up front with him, that they were already ready from an outside shop and he could have explained his policy at the initial conversation and I would have understood and expressed that. I then told him I didn't mean to insult him and I wish he was upfront about his policy - his shop, his rules - and I wouldn't have wasted me time. I then told him I could pay him extra, a total of $30, and he said it would not pay his overhead (that dumbfounds me - just 20 lug nuts). Then he said he would do it, but wouldn't guarantee his work. I told him then I would rather take me business else and because of his demonstrative behavior and insulting me I would not be coming back. He then insulted me again and said, "good we don't want it." What a real unprofessional jerk with no business acumen. Good luck, you're going to need it or evolve to remain relevant in changing marketplaces. read more

I stopped into Royal Tire on 6/14/18. I went in and ask the person at the desk if they could check the air in my tires. The gentleman behind the counter said it would cost $10. I told him that I just spent over $1,000 on tires and brakes. He said they have free air across the street at the gas station. I'm sure the next time I need anything for my car I can go elsewhere. Was simply looking for a place to put some tires on my car that were previously bought. The guy very rudely told me that they were in a business to sell tires not install competitors tires. Now this is fine and understandable but the way he talked to me was ridiculous. Find a different job if you can't deal with the public in a respectful manner. Very poor customer service read more

This place is great. Service is above and beyond. On multiple occasions, they've gotten us in on extremely late notice - even staying open past close to take a look at our car's alignment. They're honest and fees are reasonable. They charge significantly less for basics like tire rotation, balancing and alignment than most other shops - definitely less than most dealers. I only wish this place offered more repair services - I'd gladly ditch the usual mechanics and auto centers in favor of their work. read more

Do not use Royal tire petoskey Michigan drop the car off to have snow tires put on for the winter season.I did walk around inspection and noticed three of my wheels had scratches on them .went back into the and ask for a manager/owner he came out and looked at the wheels and said that I had scratched them and that his equipment did not, he also told me never to come back that my kind was not welcome in his store,also told me to go jump in a lake refused to refund my money. read more

Very confused, can't really comment on service because I never received it. I'll start with the appointment, they were very accommodating, they set me up about 24 hours in advance for an alignment. I scheduled a time for 4pm stating on the phone id leave work early and get there asap. So today, I left work early too get a simple front wheel alignment done. Typical petoskey traffic and spring construction led me there about 10 minutes late. I walked in at 4:10 on my cell phone, gentleman was on the phone for a few minutes before he got too me (once again not a problem). He checked my appointment I apologized for being a few minutes late stating that I had left work early and rushed here, got caught up in traffic and construction shutting down lanes ( I should have been on time, it's a set appointment I do understand, nothing I could do in my situation already being allowed too leave work an hour early for a service that I can never find time too fit into my schedule). So, the man stated that they wouldn't have time too do this service because it's normally an hour, I asked what time it was and he stated 4:13. Mind you I pulled in at about 4:07. He said he liked his guys too do a good job and not be rushed (I respect that) and that the quickest they could do it would be 45 minutes, he stated they closed at 5. I drove 35 minutes because I read this was a fair priced, well maintained business that treated customers well. I'll have too conclude that is incorrect. I work, I work a lot, and for a company too refuse business too a first time customer because he didn't want his guys too work an extra 12 minutes according too his schedule estimation AT THE MOST is absolute garbage. Small towns businesses should not operate like this if they want too stick around with everyone else. Word of mouth goes a long way and I'll be sure to let everyone know how they treated me, a first time customer. An extra 10 minutes for a job, if they schedule people at 4pm for a job that takes an hour (according too them) how can they possibly deny someone for being a few minutes late. They never once mentioned that if I don't arrive exactly at or before 4 pm that I would be denied. Wasted my time and gas and now have too find another time too leave work just too get this simple procedure done, I'll find someone else that actually wants too take my money too do their God damn job! read more
