The mechanic had my tires rotated and was finished by 2 o'clock, which was great, but I brought a friend with me to introduce a new customer who needed a tire repair from a nail. They refused to repair the tire since it was not scheduled. We went this morning to the local dodge dealership since we have a dodge eco-diesel and they told us they can't do anything for use since it's from Canada and out of basic warranty. We drove to multiple places that ended up being closed and got referred to upper lakes tire. Thank goodness! Brian was beyond helpful! Even though he said he didn't do much with diagnosing, he came out and ran the codes for us. This is a common problem so he was able to clear the code for us so we can get home and get it back to the dealer who gave us the warranty. To top it off, he didn't even charge us! My brother suggested this place and when I called they said they could get the tires and install them that day (even though it was Christmas Eve if I remember correctly) - AWESOME! I took my car in and they completed the work promptly. I was happy with everything. Fast forward about 6 months and I was due for routine maintenance at the dealership (Lexus). Shortly after I dropped it off, they called to ask if I'd recently gotten new tires. I informed them that I had and they told me that whomever had installed them had broken the hub lock. They gave me the broken piece when I came to pick up my car and it was covered in rust where it was broken, so I believe that they (Lexus dealership) didn't break it themselves and try to pass it off as someone else's mistake. Anyway, it cost me $160 to replace it! Also, they told me that I'm lucky I didn't get a flat while I was driving because neither I or the tow truck guy would have been able to remove the tire due to the broken part. Giving 2 stars because they WERE able to accommodate me during the holidays and I appreciate that. However, to let me drive off knowing (they knew...) they'd broken that part is AWFUL. I could have been stranded! I totally understand that mistakes happen, such is life. But to not fess-up and make it right? Sorry, but that's just bad business.

They don't just do tires and brakes - we've had their help for a variety of car troubles. Eric is the type of owner who still answers the phone and is in the shop almost every day. He'll tell you when something's beyond his scope instead of getting every last cent out of you. They have a very normal policy for a non-franchise, locally owned business, of not installing brand new tires that are purchased elsewhere. They are happy to install used tires, but as one would expect, are not going to enable someone buying tires at a discount place and then using their services. This is posted on a sign on their door and their staff is upfront about it as well. If other reviewers were told this on a phone call, it sounds like Royal was as upfront as they could be. Certainly nothing deserving a one-star review. I trust them with anything, and took the time to update my review because that other review guy ticked me off with his pettiness, lol.
