Carolyn was very helpful in getting us in a new 2021 WRX. Called her up after submitting an online application and she had the paperwork done in minutes over the phone. 0 out of 5 stars. Do not use Subaru By The Bay's service department. After 6+ months of trying to have a coolant leak fixed by them, I finally had to go to another Subaru dealership to get it fixed. But not before having Subaru By The Bay say a head gasket leak was the problem, try to fix it, and break other parts in the process. The other Subaru dealership discovered there was a fitting by the oil pan leaking that could have been caused when Subaru By The Bay replaced the pan when I purchased the car from them, and that there was coolant in the oil so there was still an internal coolant leak that Subaru By The Bay either did not find when they replaced the head gasket or caused a new leak by breaking something else when doing the repair. I have never experienced such incompetence from a service/mechanic shop. read more

Until now I would have given them a 5. But today I had to get service on my car and when I picked it up none of the staff in the service office had masks on. And when I entered they didn't put masks on. I was also told the technician who drove my car to the service area didn't have a mask on (when I asked). This is the worst covid compliance I have experienced. If you need to take your car in I recommend you call in advance and make sure they mask up. I did talk with the owner (they encourage feedback) and he did seem concerned and indicated he would follow up. read more

My 2015 Subaru Forester started showing three flashing lights on the dash. Research indicated the problem was likely the brake light switch. I replaced the switch which did not correct the problem. The flashing lights issue continued and then it developed an issue where the vehicle would not turn over after it had been run 15-20 minutes and shut down. Took it to Subaru by the Bay for service and explained the issues. They were convinced it was the brake light switch which they replaced and it did not solve the problem. They spent five weeks diagnosing the issue and brought in a regional Subaru mechanic twice. They tried replacing major controllers which did not fix the issue. Eventually, they replaced the battery reported the car was fixed. They presented me with a repair cost of $1650.00 and said Subaru ate about half the cost. About four weeks after the repair, the three flashing lights started happening again and eventually, the issue with starting the vehicle came back. Scared of the time and repair costs associated with Subaru by the Bay, I called another Subaru dealer about 70 miles away and explained the situation. They were shocked by the work and billing presented by Subaru by the Bay and promised that was not the way they would handle the situation. I took the car to the other dealer and in less that two hours they diagnosed and repaired the issue. Turned out to be a wire running through the left fender and firewall that was grounding out and another on the back of the starter that needed to be tightened. I took both repair tickets to Subaru by the Bay and explained the situation as well as my disappointment in their work and billing. Clearly, their work did not fix the vehicle. I requested they review their procedures and what they billed me and correct the situation. After two months of their 'looking into it', it seems they have decided their appropriate action is to ignore me. I would have thought that a business in a small community would have shown some integrity and at least offered some return. Perhaps they could have paid the cost of the other dealer's repair. Talked to Subaru of America customer service. They assured me that Subaru by the Bay is an independent dealer and they have no control over what they do or how they run their business. Hmmm, starting to think Subaru of America doesn't care about who their dealers are or how they represent their brand. At least a got a new battery out of the deal... I think. read more

In town for vacation from the Detroit area, my Crosstrek had its AT oil temp, ABS, traction control, and hill assist lights all come on. After calling and explaining my situation, and no availability until the day after I was scheduled to leave, the team at the dealership agreed to at least look at it to make sure it'd be safe to drive back down state. Luckily, an appointment cancellation occurred, and my car was able to put in same day, and the solenoid in my transmission was replaced. Myself, my girlfriend, and my friends I came up with, are all eternally grateful for the kindness, care, and expeditious work done by the team at Subaru by the Bay. read more

Know what you are entitled to (promotions) before going there to buy a car and bring proof. We did buy a new Subaru from them and have had most of our service done there...not only is it unnecessary for warranty purposes, it's expensive. This is my first new car, I didn't know what to expect and I paid the price. read more
