So let me start off by standing in line the ambiance of the restaurant was horrific. There were at least 5 tables that had food and used dirty wrappers and food items on the table for the 5 mins I was in line. After we sat down we also noticed a spilt beverage on the floor that they didn't clean up until we finally sat down and even after that it was still wet and sticky. As we waited for our food we noticed the soda machine was leaking all from different places and growing mold and mildew from the bottom of it leaking. The air filters on the ice machine look like they haven't been cleaned in years as well as the air filter on the ceiling. The glass where you order from looks like it's never been wiped down or cleaned ever. The whole time waiting for my food it was grossing me out that I almost threw up my food thinking of the dinning room area looks like this, what does the kitchen look like? I threw away my soda, after seeing what the ice machine looks like, I rather not risk getting sick. The customer service was absolutely terrible and I even paid for extra sauce and they didn't give it to me. The food wasn't all that great I've been to this location prob 3 times within the span of the past 3 years and every time I've come here it get worse. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE ITS DIRTY AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I grew up loving philly steaks and Charley's when I was old enough to drive and go to the mall. But now 15 years later, leaves a lot to be desired. Came in today with no one in line and it took them too long to greet me, enough time passed where the wife and I had enough time to discuss if we wanted something else for dinner, which is too much time to give. I'm sure the owner would agree. Grab your customers attention and make that sale! The woman who greeted us was so plain and character was really lacking, not showing any positivity or happy to be there. Not only was it slow at the time, but the food took to long and our fries where ready before the meal was. By the time our meal was completed, the fries were cold! And everytime I come here... every table is messy. Now I blame the management. The food is always great but some staff members are just awful. Went to lunch with a friend and the girl running the register (my receipt said her name was Laura, not sure if it was really her or if the till was under a different name) looked annoyed as soon as we walked in. She takes my order and didn't ask what size I wanted and automatically charged me for a regular size even though I preferred a small. Nor did she ask what type of fries I wanted, just gave me some regular. Not to sound like a Karen but i expect to be asked since I don't go there often, I mean its common sense for any food setting, right? As I'm paying with Apple pay, she gets on her phone on tiktok or something SUPER LOUD not caring about her surroundings. But its WORK, regardless where you work, its really unprofessional to be on your phone in front of customers. My friend ordered next and all of a sudden she does her job in asking what size, and type of fries. Why couldn't you do that literally 30 seconds ago? I wanted to tell her something but didn't want to make a big deal over 2-3 extra bucks. But yet again as my friend was also doing apple pay, the cashier is on her phone and hands my friend her receipt without even taking her eyes off her damn phone! No "thank you", no "have a nice day". This place doesn't seem to give a shit for customer service. As much as I love the food, the service makes me want to never return, for I felt very unwelcomed, it was ridiculous. I used to love this place until One evening I show up and I order a Philly Cheese steak Sub and the Sub contained very little meat. I am used to ordering these subs and them having a lot of meat, but not this time. What really got to me was that Sara, the order taker, didn't care when I explained my situation and she said that the amount of meat was normal. I asked her to put more meat, but she refused to do so. Unless i payed an extra amount. From the moment I placed my order with Sara I sensed the nasty attitude she was giving. I am so disappointed with Charley's. They were one of my favorite places and I have frequented this location so many times. Where should I even begin. Service was abysmal. Both chefs manning the grill were totally unprofessional. It took me 35 mins to get my meal and even then they messed up the order and missed a few things. Didn't even have the courtesy to apologize when I called it out nicely. I wish I could rate this as zero stars but I cannot. Love stopping here to grab a sub every time I go to the mall but lately the food has been terrible and the service has as well! All the workers seems to be teenagers/young college students and they seem to hate their job. One of them even had wireless earphones on! That's definitely not professional. I also asked for no onions or mushrooms on either of my subs and they both came with onions and mushrooms!!! The worst part is my order was to go so I didn't check them until I arrived at my destination! The lettuce was black like it gets when it's old or in a hot place for too long. Oh Modesto charleys, what can I say, this location is sadly a terrible charleys, but don't be to hasty to blame the crew. As someone who has worked in food, retail, and managed multiple stores, the employees do not seem happy here, poorly staffed, they had their hands full and it was sad see them struggle. But alas they pulled through, my sandwich was spot on, the cook knew what he was doing, the girl at register looked stressed but kept a smile. At the end I tried to offer a tip but they were reluctant to take it, that was a red flag to me. As I sat, the dinning room was a disaster, dirty floors, filled trash can, but the poor staff had to room to stop what they were doing. I cleaned my table and ate, but damn was it good, even though expensive. With that said whoever manages, owns, or if corporate overlooks this store please, I've been to other charleys, this one needs work, and not with its staffing.-side comment- why is a small chicken sandwich 5.99 and a fry 2.99 when you can order the deal for 4.99? However, there was one worker who we saw working and not just hanging around. She was running around cleaning, refilling, and doing samples as the other workers were in a bad mood and lazy.
