I came here with a friend for lunch. We had never been here before, but were interested because of all the good reviews. We were the only customers in the place when we placed out orders. We then waited for 20 minutes while the staff worked on their delivery orders. I finally asked one employee when we would get our order and they then started to work on them and finally brought them to our table. We had ordered 2 four inch french dip sandwiches and 2 cups of soup and honestly they were terrible. There was only a sliver of roast beef on each sandwich and the soup was obviously from a can. Why it took so long to get our order to our table is beyond me, but it was a very disappointing experience. The food was subpar and the bill was $43 which is way too much for what we got. Just tried this place for the first time today and ordered the garlic turkey pesto. It was amazing! One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I normally make my sandwiches at home and never like buying sandwiches out but this one was well worth it. The ingredients tasted really fresh and the sandwich had some spice to it which I love. (I added jalapeños in mine) The people were friendly when we came in and the shop is small but clean and looks just like a regular sandwich shop. I personally have never been a fan of tomato anything but I will say the tomato bisque is so freaking good. One of the most crucial parts of a sandwich is the bread - this place has that part down (one would hope with a name like this :) ) It's the right amount of bread (ie., not ALL bread and minimal contents inside), and the most important part is that it's soft with the perfect amount of delicate crunch. Doesn't break your teeth to take a bite. I saw other reviews mentioning that they skimp on the meat portions but I haven't had that experience yet and I've been here many times now. We had no idea this place was here! We were greeted by a very friendly, high energy woman behind the counter. Place is super clean and has a nice vibe. We had the chicken pesto with chips and the turkey cranberry with lobster bisque. The Bread was fresh and flavorful. They have a great selection of meats and cheeses. The chicken pesto was good, pesto wasn't too overpowering as some can be. The lobster bisque was full of chunks. A bit too tomato-y for me. Served Super hot with beautiful sourdough bread on the side. The turkey cranberry was good, just really skimpy on the cranberry. I could barely see it! I was disappointed with that. I'd seen on Nextdoor that they were open. Beings as I love sourdough bread...I have driven to San Francisco for good bread. This bread is good, it is fresh and the sandwich i got was tasty. I asked for a grilled cheese as nothing pairs with sourdough better in my opinion. I had grilled cheese, the only option was their flavored mayo so I opted for plain. My husband had the brisket sandwich. But... I'm not 100% convinced it's sourdough. Sour dough is sour, when toasted gets crisp and isn't usually a soft bread to eat...you usually have to chew... It presented like maybe a French/sourdough flavor? Or combo? If that's possible. The people were friendly, the inside was cute and reminiscent of being at the pier...food was hot, fairly fast considering they bake as you order. We spoke with someone after being asked how it was, and they gave us the story of how things are made etc. we added on a par baked loaf to go home and a couple of cookies which are huge! The food was good, 9/10 service was great 10/10 Atmosphere good 9/10z...bread? The reason we went today? 7/10. Since sourdough is in the title I was expecting more. It was good, but not great. The loaf we took home baked up quickly and good, this is closer to what I was expecting...but still no wow factor. Ordered via Door Dash! Showed up in a timely fashion, however the AuJus was broken, so I received a bag of soup. I took a picture of my bag of soup, and spoke to the driver about his careless actions. I then called to inform the store, and was placed on hold ( laying the phone on the counter) for over 20 minutes. I listened to customers coming and going, singing etc.... Loud music, horse play in the background for over 20 minutes. You, May ask why did I stay on hold for 20 minutes? Well, it seemed to me that if they don't care about inconveniencing me by ignoring me, I could at least interrupt their cash flow, by blocking any calls for orders that they might receive. Poor customer service! I requested to speak with a Manager, and was told... 1. They were on break (During the busiest part of their day?) 2. There were only two employees working ( During the busiest time of day.) 3. The Manager/owner was at a food show. Excuse after Excuse! All I asked for was a refund! Pretty Simple. The sandwhiches are amazing. They are super flavorful, and with the crunch of the sourdough (if you get the bread toasted like I did), it is just the cherry on top. The clam chowder and mac and cheese are hearty and warms the belly. The service was helpful. There was a new cashier who rang us up, and she was super nice. I want to start off by saying the bread was phenomenal. So delicious and definitely something I'd want a lot of. It had the perfect crisp and fluffiness. The issue here is how the employees made the sandwich. It was DROWNED in sauce. I got the pesto chicken sandwich to be delivered and I couldn't taste any pesto at all because they drowned the sandwich in so much of their sauce. It was overkill. Everything was drenched, it just looked like slop. I also want to add that when you're paying $16 for a sandwich, it should have more than one slice of chicken on it. Let me start by saying the Tully Road Modesto restaurant was clean and the cashier was friendly, so 3 stars for that. However, the "chopped" salad I had was nothing like the one I ordered a week ago in Manteca, which was amazing. The point to a chopped salad is you get a little bit of everything, chopped finely, in each bite. Not this salad. It was large pieces of very wet romaine with a small blob of everything else that makes it good on the top. The salad was so wet I had to drain it when I got it home and then chop it all up again, adding my own ingredients. . It was disappointing because the first try was very positive.
