It seemed as if he was trying to force me out of the lane. When he finally went around me, he drove dangerously close to another driver. His driving is aggressive and reckless. Charleys Towing has been nothing short of a nightmare dealing with the dumbest criminals in Maryland. After my vehicle was unlawfully towed from my apartment's property, I encountered nothing but disrespectful and criminal behavior (they wont even answer why the vehicle was towed) from their staff mainly Kevin Herbert (he is the General Manager he adds fake reviews on google to try to boost the score from 1 to 3 ) and a driver named Johnathen. They not only failed to justify the towing but also attempted to extort fees, showcasing a blatant disregard for customer rights and there own freedom. MAKE SURE YOU FILL OUT A SHOW OF CAUSE HEARING AND MAIL IT IF THEY TOWED YOUR VEHICLE. My vehicle was legally parked at my apartment complex and was towed by Charlies Towing. I contacted the my property manager that verified that my parking pass, registration, tags, and monthly payment for parking were indeed valid and up-to-date. She advsied them to release the vehicle at no charge. Upon arrival they still try to charge me. They illegally towed my vehicle for Abandoment saying that since my car sat stationary in a paid parking spot (my spot) for 72 hours they had the right to tow it off of private property (I pay monthly parking for a private spot and do not need to move the vehicle as its paid for for the month). The IQ level of these employees are non exsistant as I do not even believe the staff even has GED's. Due to the documentation being legit they then said if the vehicle does not start when I try to start it they will charge me $175.00. The vehicle did not start I popped the hood and saw the battery disconnected (when I connected it the battery was completely discharged) I had to have my vehicle towed off the lot by another vendor!!! They ended up illegally charging be $225.00 which is $50 more than they said. I paid and will now use the receipt and payment as evidence in my case showing that not only was my vehicle unlawfully towed, not only were they advised by the property manager to release the vehicle at no charge but they have now blatently extorted me since they charged me for a vehicle that should not even have been in there possession for a reason not pertaining to anything except a made up stipulation which is illegal. Every single action taken by this organization was completely illegal. I had to get a police report as I am taking these intelligent people to court for there conduct and unlawful towing and then sueing them in district court for Unlawful towing and Extortion. Charlie's Towing illegally towed my vehicle. At my girlfriends complex all visitors parking overnight must display a 'Visitors Pass'. I DID. The pass was displayed on the dashboard. When we called them they acknowledged that the pass was in fact on the dash. The woman stated the pass should have been hung from the rear view mirror. 1) That is NOT a requirement written in the by- laws or on their sign and 2) the mirror in my car does NOT have a neck that allows anything to be hung; which is why it was on the dash. They did not charge me to pick it up, but now I'm late for work hoping there's no damage to the undercarriage. read more

My car was towed here from an accident & upon getting the police release, this nasty unprofessional front desk lady tells me I need the police report to get my car & the things out of my car. I called back multiple times to make sure I needed a police report & this snake said yes. I go up there to finally get my car, only to find out she was lying just to keep my car there to rack up more storage fees!! Just straight up nasty. My daughters car wall involved in a hit and run accident and the MD State Police had her car towed to Charley's Crane Service. To help out, I went to Charley's to pick up her keys, EZpass and other items. The young lady, did not get her name, (my apologizes) at the window was extremely helpful and let me in to gather my daughters belongings. I chatted with another employee inside the office and then with the young lady at the front window. She suggested I leave her car keys for the insurance company...turns out she was correct! The woman I spoke with claims her name was Patricia and that she was a manager but I highly disbelieve her because of the lack of professionalism they showed. TLDR: Don't use this company even if they can get someone out to you quick, it's shady and they accuse legitimate customers of insurance fraud. There are plenty of other tow companies in the area. I wish I could rate this company lower. On Friday night I called a couple towing companies to tow my broken down car. The last one I called was Charley's Crane services and after the operator told me that, with the extra costs, the tow would be upward of 300 and he couldn't get a man out to me for an hour and a half one of their operators called me back on my cell saying that he could come get me in half an hour. When the operator arrived I told him that I did not have very much cash on me and could only pay by credit card, to which he said that the companies credit card machine was broken but it might be fixed by the time we arrived at my local auto-shop. When we got there, of course, the machine still wasn't fixed and the operator would not give me back my car until I paid him via check or cash. Not having either a friend loaned me money from a local ATM and that was that. Days later when I tried to file a claim CCS couldn't find my receipt for my insurance company (I have towing coverage). Finally they confirmed my claim, but now a day later they are insisting that the driver just "picked me up and had me call" instead of calling me first! Thank god I didn't have the cash on me or actually get picked up on the side of the road by one of their vehicles before calling! The funny thing is the operator did actually show up promptly and did manage to get my car into a tight and unwieldy spot with his truck. Had it not been for this mess I would have considered using them in the future, or suggesting their business to other marylanders/friends stuck on the side of the road...but instead I will tell them specifically to avoid this company. read more

I find this company reckless. While driving on 50 during rush hour in heavy rain the tow truck from Charley's comes speeding up behind me at at least 70 Mph honking his horn and tailgating aggressively to force me over. I was able to safely move over. However, he did the same to others in front of me aggressively driven up on them honking his horn constantly panicking drivers and causing them to move over unsafely. This was extremely unsafe driving. I called to let the managers know he was incredibly aggressive. I was told he was responding to a police call and that he was warranted by honking, speeding, tailgating and putting others at risk because it was a police call. The manager then asked if the driver had caused an accident? It's irresponsible and reckless to wait for one to happen. A tow truck with flashing lights and a honking horn is not a first responder and not given legal pass to drive dangerously. read more

A follow up: Our truck and trailer are STILL in their yard: Our insurance company paid the claim,next day aired the check which is now up to $7300.00 emailed them the confirmation so they would release our vehicles but no they want the check in their greedy little hands. Charley's Crane Service entered into a contract in our small private development, and installed an excessive number of large menacing signs all around threatening to tow "unauthorized" vehicles. A little while later they appeared and attempted to tow away a resident's personal taxicab from the resident's reserved parking space, even though taxicab parking is not prohibited in our development. Instead of towing, they issued a warning ticket, as if they were the police. read more

What a great experience. Im an operations manager, I knew nothing was going on with my driver or my tractor and trailor. According to my driver, there driver arrived and took pictures. He sent them to his manager, then another big wreck arrived. I recieved a call from their General Manager Chief. He told me my driver was safe and did not need medical attention. He explained that my truck was jack knifed on the beltway and just missed a drainage hole. I arrived shortly after and the Chief guy was setting up chains to pulley's. It was really amazing watching a General Manager getting down and dirty with his drivers. He pulled my truck and trailer with no damage!!! I paid him what I thought was going to be at least double what I paid and then I drove my tractor back to my terminal in Jessup. I really appreciate what he did. I later found out he could have impounded my tractor and trailor, and didnt have to call me at all. He saved me money and saved my truck from inop damage.
