It is not the hidden or discreet result I was led to believe. Despite the facelift, I have an excessive amount of wrinkles around my neck, chin, and mouth area. As time goes on, the hollows and unevenness are becoming more pronounced rather than settling. The cost of these procedures was incredibly high. I feel that the premium prices patients pay are for his massive marketing and social media production, not for superior surgical skill. For the amount of money spent, one expects precision and personalized care, neither of which I received. When I met with Dr. Karam via Zoom four months post-op to express my dissatisfaction, he was dismissive. He refused to guarantee any revision work to correct these clear issues. In the beginning he said lasers would take care of the mistakes ( but never offered them himself). I was having a difficult recovery I called and emailed multiple times and was finally told Dr Karam was not available to talk to me. His emails also will disappear on his response for his protection so be aware. You will be dismissed, left to try and correct his huge mistakes. My eyelids still had extra skin which will require another lid surgery, he did offer to re-do them early on but after a year of ignored calls I will never let this man touch my face again. He would not allow any kind of red light for healing or oxygen chamber.. very standard with most plastic surgeons. All natural healing is what he promotes, it's just bullshit. The scars left around my face are so incredibly noticeable that I have to get hair-transplanted to cover them. I cannot wear my hair up or back. The scars under my eyes, around my ears and hairline are incredibly noticeable. I have consulted with multiple surgeons in regards to my results, and all are shocked at not only what I paid, but the lack of results and permanent scarring. I have since had to undergo surgery to fix the GIGANTIC scar under my nose from the lip lift (super low), as well as the disproportion of my facelift (jowels left on the left of my face) and the skin that was left under my chin and neck. My neck lift was barely touched, yet the scars are horrendous. I had to have the bags corrected in my 2nd facelift by a SKILLED surgeon. My lower bleph left me with nothing but scars and bags. All of which I pointed out to Dr. Karam. I have asked for a refund to cover the cost of a facelift revision, lower bleph revision, neck lift revision, scar revision therapy as well as the hair transplants to cover the scarring around my face and hairline. Refused to acknowledge a possibility of environmental involvement. I live far away and it is extremely difficult for me to physically come in person. Especially since they insist on torturing me with hot exam rooms that deteriorate me and make me sick and difficult to drive back home. Because of the temperature issues, I struggled tremendously coming in, in person. She refused to take a sample of the liquid oozing from my worse off left ear, to test, and see what was going on. All the ENT cared about was getting me in for as many visits as she possibly could stringing me along taking advantage of my forgetfulness and not addressing everything I came there for. I simply needed an updated form, because we had moved into a new home, and I needed to add new health changes and requirements. My condition is degenerative, lifelong, terminal, so I won't be getting better. Most clinics offer at least a 10-minute grace period, but I was told I could not be seen. It wasn't until I asked to speak to the head nurse that I was allowed to keep my appointment. This was supposed to be my first visit to establish care. I came in with clear symptoms and explained I was in dire need of treatment and likely had an infection. Joseph Shepherd showed zero concern. He refused to test or treat me, told me to come back weeks later, and made me feel like I was wasting his time. The only reason I was tested was because I refused to leave without being cared for. When my results came back positive, no one contacted me. I had to make another same-day appointment to follow up. Joseph then prescribed a medication I am allergic to, without reviewing my chart or discussing options. He told me he "only had 20 minutes" per patient, but ended our visit after just 10 minutes. His lack of effort and disregard for my well-being were clear. What made this experience worse is that the student who was shadowing him cared more than he did. She actually listened to me, showed concern, and tried to help with my care. Joseph Shepherd dismissed her completely and dismissed me right along with her. Patient-centered care is not optional. Communication, empathy, and respect are non-negotiable in healthcare. Joseph Shepherd does not belong in this profession if he can't provide basic care or treat patients with human decency. As a new patient, this was one of the worst medical experiences I've had. Zero stars. He did not care, and it showed.
