Had so much fun running with Charlotte Running co this morning! The owner Brian and his wife Tai were so sweet and welcoming. I am somewhat of a beginner runner and was a first timer. I felt very welcomed and included. There were options for 2mile, 4mile, and 6mile routes. While the group went out for our run, Brian and Tai stayed back to make us some pancakes post-run. It was so sweet to come back to some tasty fuel post-run. You can tell they love what they do. Very encouraging, personable, and knowledgeable. Their store is also well organized and spacious. There's a wide variety of running gear for everyone. Also love the local merch. Everyone seemed really happy, which tells me they are going above and beyond just the business and building a great community. read more

I like CRC but I just spent over an hour picking out a pair of running shoes just to have the store ship me the wrong pair. For such a devoted group of people this is just sloppy. Now I will have to go to my local store and sort it out. Errors like this, even after the sales rep had me come behind the desk and confirm the color are just unacceptable. To add insult to injury their stores' systems are not connected so I have to go back to the original store. What a poor operating model. read more

Just went here to find some good commuter shoes since I'm going abroad this summer and will be walking a ton. Everyone here was SUPER helpful!! I was able to find the perfect shoe and it only took 15 minutes!! I had to go before I could purchase them but will definitely be back later this week. Connor helped me, and we looked at several good walking shoes before I found the right one. There weren't any markups either, the shoes from different brands were the same in store as they were on those brand's websites, which is refreshing because some specialty stores will have needless markups. The foot evaluation was very cool too- it evaluated my gait, where I put the most pressure on my foot, and so much more. And it was free!! Super helpful when looking for the right shoe. Definitely recommend this store and this location!! I'll be coming here in the future for all my fitness shoe purchases. :) read more

Despite how much time I spend here, how much I do with the people affiliated with this store and even how much they do for local charities I find it hard to nudge them higher than three stars. I used to live walking distance from CRC in Northlake and frequented that store in my strictly road-running days. They put me in a pair of shoes years ago that ultimately contributed to some plantar fasciitis. I also found them to be poor communicators when it came to their training plans and programs. I won't hold it against this store though. They have a LOT of shoe selection. They even have a (very) limited supply of trail and low-drop shoes to choose from. However I get the feeling that they are very specifically targeted to the track and field athlete or road runner. Unfortunately they don't carry my brand: Topo Athletic. Since it was literally the brand that saved me I haven't been convinced yet to try anything different. I love the toe-splay they allow. There are lots of skimpy running clothes to choose from here. Plenty of branded and phrase shirts. All of it at rather high prices for my budget. After all, it's just something I'm going to go sweat in and splatter mud all over. It just needs to keep other people from ogling my goodies and keep me on this side of the prison system. Begone, style! Lots of stretching and pressure-point devices for working out those sore muscles and cramps. Plenty of literature on the local running community and events. There are some activity tracker watches and they will give you a fitting here for the shoes you want to try out. My favorite thing is yoga on Sunday mornings at 9am. read more

I stopped in at Charlotte Running Company after having a less-than-great experience at another running store and WOW, was this experience lightyears different! Harry was knowledgeable, friendly and seemed to genuinely care about getting me in the right shoes. I broke my ankle about 4 months ago and have been having knee pain recently as well so it was imperative I find a good, supportive shoe to carry me through my runs and HIIT workouts. Then they'll recommend a few different options from various brands and put you in them for a test drive on their treadmill. These guys are AWESOME. I have never taken up running before in my life, but decided to earlier this year. They had me run on the treadmill and videotaped my gait. By analyzing that, Charlotte Running was able to suggest a couple pairs of possible running shoes for me, tailored to how I run. Based on the way I run, they suggested either Saucony or New Balance. I made the ultimate purchase decision (Saucony), but they knew after watching me run which shoes would be good for me, and which pairs would not. I am running my first 5K in two weeks! I took one of their beginner's running classes which taught me a lot about running. They have running clothes and socks too, and information on area races. John, Dana and Julie are all fantastic and will be happy to help you! UPDATE: I ran my first 5K last week, and it was great! My goal was to finish, and I finished. I plan to sign up for another race ASAP. Also, I recommend visiting the Charlotte Running location in Dilworth (off East Blvd. behind Outback Steakhouse). That store is much bigger than the Ballantyne location and has more running clothes. Before the Yiasou 5K, I had to drop by this store for a new pair of Sauconys because I'd worn out my first pair and Ballantyne was out of my size. Tip: Have these guys help you with the most appropriate footwear for your foot and gait. To be cool with regard to the time they spent with me, I bought my first pair of shoes from them. Beginning with the second pair, however, go to Amazon.com and save some big bucks. No need to pay $120 for a pair of running shoes when you can get the same shoes online. read more

What a great experience! They were super helpful in finding what type of shoe I needed. Spent a minute on the treadmill so they could video me while running where I immediately saw my over-pronation. I then tried on several pairs of shoes that would work for me. I even got some tips on healing my aching Achilles. I will be back for all my future shoes! I saw some people were not happy about the no refund policy, but they give you 30 days to try out the shoes and have such a wide selection, I can't imagine not being able to find a replacement. read more

After two foot surgeries for Morton's Neuroma, and knee surgery for a torn meniscus, I knew it was time to upgrade to a better quality shoe. Kristy was my sales associate, and she listened carefully to what my problems were. She then put me on the treadmill where she videoed me walking. I was shown the video and given a thorough analysis of my gait and what type of shoe would best serve me. After careful foot measurements, Kristy brought out 5 different brands and models which I tried on. She encouraged me to spend plenty of time walking in each shoe to determine the best fit and style for me. We finally settled on a pair with a nice wide toe box to accommodate my surgical scar tissue. I could not be happier. Finally, I can wear shoes that do not cause me foot pain. After a couple of weeks of wearing my new shoes, I went back to the store to order another pair for travel. I know I could have gotten them from Amazon, but I really wanted to support this local business. When there was a problem with the shipping (not due to the store), Harry came to the rescue and tracked down the problem, and made sure that my shoes were shipped overnight directly to my home. I am very impressed with the knowledge, professionalism, enthusiasm, and superior customer support of everyone associated with the Charlotte Running Company. And the prices are very reasonable (same cost as Amazon), particularly when you consider the time spent on gait analysis. We just recently moved to Charlotte from Wilmington and were looking for our new running store. We definitely found it in the Charlotte running company. We went one night after dinner just to look around and get familiar with the area. The two guys in there were so amazing and full of knowledge!! Since then we've been back and bought shoes and other accessories. The variety of shoes is awesome but the knowledge of the staff is worth every penny spent in there! EVERY time the selection is limited, the price is 10-20% higher than the company websight but I support local business. This time they didn't have my size so they ordered it and it just isn't a good fit. TOUGH STUFF for me! I have purchased my last three pairs of running shoes from the Charlotte Running Company and I receive great help every time. The ownership has changed since my last visit, but it is still the same great store! I was helped by the store owner and he is very knowledgeable about running and competing in triathlons. It is nice to know you are receiving advice from a credible source and experienced athlete. One of the interesting points about my visit that was new to the store since my last visit was the option to donate your old shoes to a charity. If you choose to donate your shoes, they are refurbished and are given to someone in need. Not only is that a great cause, but you get 5% off your purchase. There was also recently a sidewalk sale and there are a few mens and womens running shoes at 40-50% off for a few more days. If you are in need, check it out, you might find a great deal on a good pair of running shoes! I am running a marathon in May and I will return for my next pair of shoes. I highly recommend them... I went to the store in Rock Hill at Riverwalk the other day. I took 3 pair of athletic shoes with me and told Taylor what I liked and didn't like about each. I'm a Jazzerciser, so I wasn't looking for running shoes, necessarily, but training/dance shoes. She analyzed my gait and we tried 4 pair of shoes. She was patient and knowledgeable. Charlotte Running's return policy is for store credit, not a refund. I told Taylor I'm very happy with that, as I feel confident they will find me the right shoe if the ones I bought don't work. They are very dedicated to their customers. I totally get those who might want to come in and check out the shoes and want to save money buying on line (possibly Amazon etc). Just remember this is your neighborhood store, you go in because you trust them to help you. If you buy everything from outside,,,, they may not be here one day. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE -- EVER. I'd heard good things about the individualized customer experience at Charlotte Running Company (1412 East Blvd.), and as someone with multiple foot & hip issues, was looking forward to the experience, advice, and *had* been fully prepared to purchase an expensive pair of shoes. Instead, I left the store bewildered and (new) shoe-less. Upon entering I was greeted friendly enough -- "Hi, how are you?" but it was clear that the two store clerks stationed by the check out counter were in deep consultation with another customer. I took the opportunity to peruse the shoe selection while they finished with the customer before me. And waited. And waited. And waited... I finally sat down, and waited some more. When one of the clerks finally noticed i was sitting...and waiting...she asked "Are you with him?" referring to the customer before me. (???) I said no, which is when she finally decided to walk over to me...but instead of apologizing, immediately started to BERATE me for not asking for help. WHAT?!? "Well, I didn't know that you needed help, that's why I ASKED you when you came in!" Again, WHAT?!? Flabbergasted, I said "I'm sorry, I don't remember you asking if I needed help?" She replied "Yeah, I said when you came in, Hi, How are you?, I can't POSSIBLY know that you need help unless you ask". After I regained my composure, I reached down for my purse - to which she replied (dripping with venom) "Ok, well have a GOOD afternoon!" WHAT?!? I left and went to Run for Your Life, staffed with FRIENDLY, knowledgable folks, and after a thorough discussion with a HELPFUL staff member, bought an expensive pair of shoes there instead. read more

They put you up on the treadmill and measure/analyze your gate and stride to put you in the best possible shoes. Took a friend here to get fitted once and he walked away with a good pair of shoes. I needed a pair of non slip shoes for work and my chiropractor suggested Hokas to help combat plantar fasciitis. I found that Charlotte running sold Hokas, so I went to the store to be able to try them on. They didn't have what i needed in stock, so ordered them from Hoka. Hoka was terrible to deal with and cancelled several attempts at ordering my shoes. The guys finallyditched Hoka after a MONTH of trying and started calling around to other stores around the country to find me what I needed! I've purchased a few pairs of running shoes from this location and have had a great experience every time. Now, I'm no Bruce Jenner but I do like to get my jog on. It helps that I've found Groupon deals for the last two pairs I bought ($25 off). The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. If it's your first time, they'll put you on the treadmill to see your running style. The last couple time there they just let me test the shoes by jogging up & down the sidewalk. Decent selection but the 7 day return policy is a little short for determining whether a shoe is working for you. Trysports and Run for Your Life both have longer return windows. CRC price on my shoes was pretty stock MSRP. So without a discount for a customer that has spent less than $250, more generous return policy, I don't really have a need to come back here when I can go to the competitors....or buy online (sad to say). read more
