Dr. Parthiv Mehta is a con-man and a crook. Please, I beg you to go look at all the 1 star reviews they try and hide. They also dispute almost all the 1-star reviews as you must have the wrong office, never a patient there, even though they have receipts. The reason you see so many 5-star reviews is on your first visit they are overly nice and then begging you for a 5-star review before you leave the building (don't believe me look for yourself). That is the trap then on following visits is when they start to show their authentic selves screwing you over at every turn. Charm Dental is a perfect name, they charm you, then try to charm all the money out of your bank account. His fake smile is a character, when I was there, he was having a staff meeting and I walked around the corner and he was speaking to them like dogs, which you can see in their faces walking around on eggshells not to set off his rage. We paid 3,600 dollars for 3 hours of anesthesia and were told it was from when my son went under until he woke up. That was a lie they added 2.5 hours to his time by including when the vendor they used showed up and then left. We were not even in the office for 5.5 hours so how could my child be under that long? His work was awful, and we had to keep going back to fix it, so we went to another dentist and paid them $500 dollars to fix Dr. Mehtas' mistakes. We had disputed the amount billed and my wife and I were invited by Dr. Mehta to finalize the bill and come to an agreement (see photo below). Little did we know we were walking into an ambush by a very evil man. I came in good faith to get to the bottom of this, he shuts the door and then begins attacking my wife and I out of nowhere. His fake smile turned into rage as he accused me of being a horrible human, and my wife as an awful mother, which is very bizarre because he does not even know us. He then gets mad that we have great dental insurance which is great for us but not as good for him. He prefers cash pay so he can take advantage of the poor people coming in that have no idea he is about to rob them. Many of the reviews state his dad that was a dentist and treated his patients the same way. One of the most bizarre things in his office is he pulls out his phone and shows us a video of his son with a busted forehead that needed stitches. One it is strange he showed us and filmed it but tells us he made his son do it without pain medication. What type of monster does that to his child and films it, then shows it to people he is yelling at to prove he is some kind of tough guy. This is the same monster that wants to torture his patients and staff. Do yourself a HUGE favor read this and do your own research going over real reviews. I have also made a formal complaint to the Texas Medical Review Board for their investigation. This corruption must be exposed, before he is allowed to keep hurting more people under the guise as a doctor. read more

I discovered this place through an ad on TikTok. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. However, they took 15 rounds of pictures of my mouth, which I found a bit excessive. I counted each one. The initial technician appeared unsure and had to ask for assistance multiple times, but it wasn't until her 10th attempt that she received any help. My wife had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled by Dr. Mehta. I was having anxiety about the procedure and opted for iv sedation. My insurance covers sedation but they required me to pay $1000 out of pocket anyway. They also submitted to insurance. At this point so far insurance has paid for sedation and we have not been reimbursed for what we paid out of pocket. After sedation was started (Dr Mehta is the one who inserted catheter) I tried to tell him something was hurting really bad as the iv was started. I was laid back and couldn't see anything. He said... "you know what that is!? Your imagination!" So I let it go... but after a while he realized all the fluids were not actually going into my vein but under my skin. He had to quickly remove and start a catheter in my opposite arm and him and his assistant had to elevate my arm and massage the fluid pocket down. My iv sedation was not effective at all. I remember everything. Dr Mehta even gave me a name to remember and we had a good laugh because at the end of the procedure I actually remembered it. Today I am extremely angry because we called to find out when we'd be reimbursed for the portion we paid since insurance covered. We also tried to express some concerns and Dr Mehta refused to let me or my husband speak. The entire conversation was about covering his own butt. He never once actually stopped to listen to my concerns. He remained very defensive the entire time and he actually hung up on us. I remember him talking about his horses... how he hires someone to take care of them...I remembered the name he gave me to quiz me later...I remember the sound of my teeth coming out...I remember them asking me if I was OK when I was moaning and kinda twisting in my chair...I nodded for them to keep going because I was terrified my local anesthesia would wear off if we paused. I am absolutely horrified not at the fact that billing and sedation mistakes were made... but the zero accountability or concern for my bad experience. He literally had no understanding of the billing situation and was stuck on the fact that I might be trying to get out of paying. But if he would have just stopped and listened he would have known we weren't even after anything. We just want our out of pocket back because right now they've been double paid. The last contact we had with him was a scheduled meeting on phone and he hung up on us. As defensive as he was that entire conversation I have no doubt he'll try to justify everything. He accused me of having baseless concerns because it was my word against his. Please note... I've worked in the medical field all my life. I'm 43. I know how sedation works. I know what kind of experience this should have been. He messed up doing my iv... and it was too risky to start me over so I got what was left in the opposite arm and it wasn't nearly enough. Very very poor quality care and absolutely no accountability. And they claimed he was the best. I would be willing to consider his mistake was a fluke... but the way he handled it is almost unreal! read more

I'm really not sure why this place has negative reviews. I've been a patient of Dr. Mehta for two years now and never have had any issue. Before every procedure, whether it be a simple cleaning, chip repair or fillings, I'm thoroughly explained the process as well has as the cost. The staff is very nice, quick and professional. New to Richmond, and was so happy to have found a dentist so close to my home! The below cons come to mind from my experience: 1. Unorganized. A link was sent prior for me to fill out via phone, but they apparently never got it, and I had to fill out paperwork in-person anyways. 2. A lot of workers there in scrubs, I wasn't sure who did what. 3. I went in for a routine cleaning, only to have left feeling like I had the worst set of teeth the dentist had ever laid her eyes on. I take very good care of my teeth and have recently had lots of work done from my previous orthodontist/dentist. I mind as well just get veneers at this point. 4. Plan to stay for 2+ hours, and don't expect to sit in a compromising position in a respectable area far from the waiting and front desk area while getting examined. 5. A woman at the end comes to you like she's selling a timeshare, to go over how messed up your teeth are and what's recommended. Now, not only are my teeth jacked up, but I also feel extremely poor. 6. I'm almost 40 years old, and the dentist talked to me like I was 12. Reminded me of a nail tech that asks condescendingly "who did your nails before?" with intent to criticize my prior doctor. And why? You don't know every dentist in Texas! 7. For 30 something years, I have never left a dentist that didn't give me a cheap toothbrush and mini set of toothpaste and floss after a cleaning. It's the little things, and this place wasn't it. After charging me $38 for fluoride, they sent me on my merry way empty handed. I'll just continue to drive to downtown Houston, it's worth the drive. read more

I originally chose Charm Dental in Richmond because I use to live right next to the office. After our first visit I got comfortable with them. We don't live as close anymore but we be still chose to come because I Love the staff! It's generally a great environment for children and adults. I'm happy with the services provided! My wife went there today. Scheduled an appointment for a braces consultation - only that. When she arrived they did a regular dental exam. She brought it up multiple times that she was only there for a braces consultation. They did x-rays which she assumed may have been part of the braces consultation - again, mentioning she was only there for a braces consultation. They then recommended she have a wisdom tooth removed which in my opinion is a totally unnecessary procedure since her dentist of 12 years and prior dentist of around another 10 years both recommended to not have it removed unless it started causing problems - nothing more than an attempted money grab. Then when she asked again about braces they told her she would need to schedule a consultation and the dentist that does their orthodontics is only there on Mondays and every other Tuesday... as you may be able to guess by now, not one of the days my wife showed up for the scheduled braces consultation. They did mention they did the exam to make sure there were no cavities before the braces consultation but that could have been very easily explained when she called to book the appointment for a braces consultation. Significant waste of time to go through an unnecessary exam when all she wanted was info on getting braces. Since they did an exam and x-rays, I assume now I will have to pay out of pocket for my wife's scheduled routine exam next month at her regular dentist. This place is a complete rip off. My experience was completely unprofessional and Dr. Mehta tried to charge me for services not provided. I was a new referral from a friend of his and they had already sent over my records two days prior to my visit. His office informed me that the consultation was free with xrays. He still charged my insurance and emailed me with a balance after I said I didn't want my tooth pulled for $600. Oh he also tried to charge me for an emergency visit which I had an appointment for as well as an exam that never properly happened. I called once I got to the office due to corona and I was told to wait in my car and they'd call me right in, I get a call 45 min later asking was I still coming.? I told them I had been there and was waiting to come in mentioning I had already called. I requested my records via email and I was told to pay $25. I drove 60min to get them and he handed me 4 black and white print outs, not email like he mentioned he would. His office assistant Mia was nice. However he asked me to tell my 8year old to go wait in the car because she wasn't a patient but his family member sat in the waiting room during my visit! Zero stars. Terrible experience, bad service. Not to mention the email he sent in response to my request had lots of grammatical errors. Really "doc"?! read more
